Chapter 2805: Chapter 2806: The Sage’s Compromise

Back then, Adanis already had traces of her current elegance. Intelligent, graceful, indifferent, proud, and obsessive.

Moreover, Adanis had already made significant achievements in the Magical Energy Array.

When the Wise Sovereign first met Adanis, they discussed various topics regarding the Magical Energy Array. At that time, although Adanis’s understanding of the Magical Energy Array was still immature, her talent was astonishing. The Wise Sovereign estimated that it wouldn’t be long before Adanis surpassed that realm to reach a higher level of proficiency.

The Wise Sovereign admired talent without envying it, because he understood clearly that everyone has their own gifts and specialties, and such innate spirituality is something to marvel at rather than envy.

Therefore, during their first meeting, the Wise Sovereign had quite a favorable impression of Adanis.

However, by their second meeting, the Wise Sovereign and Adanis were already at daggers drawn.

”It came to a confrontation? Did she do something?” Angel asked curiously.

The Wise Sovereign sighed lightly: ”You should know she calls herself the ’Mirror Demon God.’ Aren’t you curious why she’s doing this?”

Angel thought for a moment: ”Stealing the Warden’s treasure?”

According to the records they found in the Underground Church, the actions of those who called themselves followers of the Mirror Demon God were indeed aimed at the Warden’s treasure.

But what specific treasure it was, their findings did not document.

The Wise Sovereign nodded: ”That’s right.”

The Wise Sovereign didn’t mean for Angel to guess the answer. Since Angel and the others had found the Mirror Demon God’s followers’ church, it wasn’t hard to find related records.

”People say Naraku City fell overnight, but that’s just an exaggeration. How could it truly last just one night? Naraku City also had powerful Dominators expert in warfare, as well as Magical Energy Arrays and various Alchemy Tools. It definitely lasted more than a day or two.”

”To be honest, I forgot how long it really lasted. During that time, I was constantly handling various affairs in the pitch-black underground without any gap to count time.”

”However, I do remember the last living area in the Underground Aqueduct being breached three years after Naraku City fell publicly.”

”From when the upheaval in Naraku City started to its downfall, and finally to all living areas being breached into uninhabited ruins, it might have lasted five years.”

A few years later, the Wise Sovereign finally had the chance to visit the Qingkong Poetry Room and met Adanis for the first time.

At that time, the Wise Sovereign didn’t know what Adanis had done, just felt she was a very intelligent person.

But afterwards, while conducting follow-up work in the Underground Aqueduct, the Wise Sovereign discovered that Warden Franklin’s residence had been destroyed.

One must know, even after Naraku City’s fall, the Hanging Jail Stairway was unharmed! The guards here weren’t ordinary, plus there were Magical Creatures in the void—who dared storm in so easily?

Through the Wise Sovereign’s investigation, it was finally revealed that a group of self-claimed followers of the Mirror Demon God was behind it.

These people had almost no other thoughts, deeply worshipping the Mirror Demon God. According to the Wise Sovereign, they were essentially fanatics.

Even if the Wise Sovereign captured them, they would demonstrate their loyalty by choosing death.

In the eyes of Transcendents, death doesn’t necessarily mean the end of information; clues can still be found. Yet what surprised the Wise Sovereign was that even after death, these fanatics’ souls remained blank, void of any memories. Their sole memory was worshipping the Demon God.

”The soul’s memories... blank?” Upon hearing this, everyone seemed to recall something. ”Empty-hearted People? Sea of Void Mirror?”

The Wise Sovereign nodded: ”Correct, it was the Sea of Void Mirror that caused them to lose memories, turning into fanatics of the Mirror Demon God.”

”However, at that time, I was unaware of the Mirror Domain.”

Later on, the Wise Sovereign investigated the emblem of the Mirror Demon God. Upon comparison, it was found that one figure on the emblem looked like Olao and the other bore a striking resemblance to Adanis.

Thus, the Wise Sovereign returned to the Qingkong Poetry Room.

But this time, he was met with closed doors, with no one coming out to meet him. And since the Qingkong Poetry Room was not controlled by the Magical Energy Array, there was no way for the Wise Sovereign to forcibly enter.

”I employed some tactics and eventually forced Adanis to reveal herself.” The Wise Sovereign didn’t elaborate on these tactics, nor did anyone ask, as many matters aren’t to be probed too deeply.

”She admitted her actions, but claimed it was to help the Noah Family retrieve what belonged to Augustine, and to also reclaim Margaret’s belongings for better preservation in the Qingkong Poetry Room.”

Naturally, the Wise Sovereign was skeptical because the Warden’s room, protected by the Magical Energy Array, had never been breached, and even the Wise Sovereign didn’t know its contents.

Yet Adanis had directed those Demon God believers to dismantle the Magical Energy Array. Who knew what she had taken or what her motivations were?

The Wise Sovereign’s main reason for distrust lay in their second meeting; the Wise Sovereign hadn’t yet figured out Adanis’s true intentions and thus couldn’t trust her words.

The Wise Sovereign wished to meet Olao.

But no matter what the Wise Sovereign said, Olao never appeared. So, the Wise Sovereign thought of capturing Adanis first before proceeding further.

Thus, the tense standoff between the Wise Sovereign and Adanis unfolded.

However, it was only a standoff with no further outcome.

Because Adanis never physically appeared; she confronted the Wise Sovereign from within the mirror. At that time, the Wise Sovereign had just learned about the Mirror Domain, but knew little about it. Breaking the mirror by force didn’t lead to capturing Adanis.

In the subsequent times, the Wise Sovereign confronted Adanis multiple times without succeeding in capturing her.

Moreover, as time passed, Adanis’s strength grew, and the Wise Sovereign didn’t want to see her continue growing. Thus, he was determined to resolve the matter quickly.

As for what the Wise Sovereign planned to do this time, and how the process went, he didn’t elaborate, only revealing the outcome.

The outcome was—

He signed a covenant with Adanis, achieving balance, and this covenant remains in effect to this day.

From the outcome, it seems the Wise Sovereign suffered a loss, and indeed he did... But he didn’t come away empty-handed. It was then that Adanis, to help the Wise Sovereign clean up the filth in the Underground Aqueduct, to prevent unexpected issues with the Magical Energy Array, assigned You Nu to him. Not long after You Nu joined the Wise Sovereign, the Cyclops Family emerged.

Perhaps considering You Nu’s affection for children, or perhaps for maintaining balance, Adanis didn’t forcibly recall the Cyclops Family. Thus, allowing the Wise Sovereign to educate the Cyclops Family, leading to the current Eldest, Second, and Youngest Baos.

Apart from You Nu and the Cyclops Family, the Wise Sovereign gained another thing: Laplace’s friendship.

This the Wise Sovereign did not elaborate on, only briefly mentioning it.

However, since the Wise Sovereign mentioned Laplace, everyone couldn’t help but speculate, that perhaps during the past battle between the Wise Sovereign and Adanis, he might have ended up in the Mirror Domain?

In reality, the Wise Sovereign might have easily defeated Adanis at that time, but in the Mirror Domain, it’s hard to say.

No wonder the Wise Sovereign never elaborated on what happened back then, only speaking of the result.

When the Wise Sovereign spoke to this point, he had already briefly organized his relationships with the Relic Site, Mirror Demon God, and Adanis. He didn’t continue because he noticed the confusion in everyone’s expressions was almost overflowing.

”I can assure you, what I said above is true. If you have any doubts, you can ask now.”

After his words, the Black Earl quickly said, ”What on earth did she take? And why say it was to help the Noah Family retrieve it?”

The Wise Sovereign shrugged: ”I don’t know so far. It might be Augustine’s handbook? Or something else.”

”As for why Augustine’s belongings were in the Warden’s room... I seem to have mentioned before, Margaret is the Warden’s daughter, and they all lived on the top floor of the Hanging Jail Stairway. It’s very normal for Augustine to have left things with Margaret.”

”However, Adanis once said she would hand these things over to the descendants of the Noah Family.”

At this point, the Wise Sovereign looked deeply at the Black Earl and Vay, and then said, ”But as you know, over the millennia, Adanis’s mind has changed, and the trials for the Noah descendants have become stricter each time, ultimately resulting in most of these Noah descendants ending up in the Sea of Void Mirror.”

”This is also why the records about the Qingkong Poetry Room from your ancestors have gradually decreased, because the Noah descendants who knew of these things have all been washed into Empty-hearted People by the Sea of Void Mirror.”

”So, even if you go to the Qingkong Poetry Room, I cannot guarantee that she will eventually hand Augustine’s belongings over to you.”

The Wise Sovereign, while speaking, also wrote all his words into the True Words Tome, proving he wasn’t lying.

The True Words Tome’s lack of reaction also proved that the Wise Sovereign truly didn’t know what Adanis took.

The Black Earl gazed at every word in the True Words Tome, falling into contemplation.

At this moment, Angel spoke: ”When exactly was Adanis born, is she a Mirror Domain entity, or a spiritual being?”

The Wise Sovereign: ”When I first met Adanis, she already possessed high intelligence and her own way of handling matters. She should have been born for some time, or one could say she had absorbed a lot of knowledge before her birth.”

”I don’t know her exact birth time, but it can be confirmed that she never saw the true forms of Margaret and Augustine. So, she should have been born after Margaret and Augustine left Naraku City.”

”As for what she is... I can confirm she is not a native being of the Mirror Domain; she has a true form in reality. But what exactly her true form is, I don’t know, possibly something like a mirror.”

Angel asked again, ”And what about Olao? What exactly is Olao?”

The Wise Sovereign: ”Olao is a spirit, and it can be confirmed to have been born from an alchemy tool. I once asked Augustine before Naraku’s fall, but Augustine gave a vague answer, only saying it was a mirror.”

”So, it’s not wrong to call Olao a Mirror Spirit. However, based on the information I’ve gathered over the years from Adanis, as well as You Nu and the Cyclops Family, one thing can be roughly determined.”

—”Olao has lost its true form.”

”This is my speculation, so I won’t write it in the True Words Tome, but it should be quite accurate.”

”Think about why Olao hardly leaves the Qingkong Poetry Room, and later didn’t even show up; I guess it’s mostly in slumber because it lost its true form and can only maintain its body in other ways.”

”And why Adanis’s power easily surpasses Olao’s, because she has a true form while Olao does not.”

”As for why Olao lost its body, my speculation is... it was taken away by Augustine or Margaret. They thought they’d return soon, so they took the alchemy tool, but unexpectedly, they never returned, causing Olao to lose its body, becoming increasingly weak.”

”The owner of the Qingkong Poetry Room has now become Adanis.”

These words were all the Wise Sovereign’s speculation, so he did not write them in the True Words Tome. But everyone didn’t mind, because from the Wise Sovereign’s perspective, after the Naraku incident, he only met Olao once, and never again in the millennia that followed, making it difficult for him to know these matters, leaving him with only speculation.”

At this time, Dox also posed a question: ”Then, what exactly is the relationship between Olao and Adanis?”

This question was asked in Dox’s typical style.

However, this was precisely what everyone was concerned about.

For this question, the Wise Sovereign pondered for a moment before replying: ”The last time I saw Olao, he introduced Adanis to me.”

”He described Adanis with these words—”

”Her name is Adanis, and I am her Guide.”

”And Adanis’s reaction was quite interesting; she said, ’I don’t like this name.’ Olao then said, ’But this is the name given by the Master.’”

”Adanis continued to retort, ’But I’ve never met the Master; my name should be determined by myself.’

The Wise Sovereign paused: ”That was the only time they discussed each other.”

Here, Olao’s mention of the Master refers to Augustine. Augustine was also an alchemy genius, and Olao was a spirit born from an artifact he crafted.”

According to this speculation, Adanis might also be some tool crafted by Augustine, which eventually gave birth to a spirit. However, by then, Augustine had already left, but before leaving, Augustine had named the potential spirit, which was Adanis.

And when Olao said he was Adanis’s guide, in other words, it’s like the relationship of a guide and a Talented One, teaching Adanis the meaning of existing in this world.

That is to say, instilling Adanis, a blank slate at birth, with a worldview, values, and morality.

Of course, Olao was not a very qualified guide because Adanis was clearly not someone who just follows orders; she had a very strong individual personality, not even liking the name Augustine gave her.

Moreover, as time passed, the Wise Sovereign also noticed the change in Adanis’s attitude towards Noah’s descendants; she even dared to attack Noah’s descendants, no longer regarding herself as a ’Guardian.’

This was also why the Wise Sovereign felt that Olao was an unfit guide.
