Warhammer Divine Throne

”Mr. Laine saved me, I feel obliged to wait for him, don’t I?” Banda straightened his back as much as possible. He was dressed head to toe in brand new chain armor, with the two-handed greatsword behind him shining like new. His hair and face had been carefully washed and groomed, clearly trying his best to present himself.

”...” Teresa didn’t respond, she felt anxious. She had naturally seen records of the Doomsday Bull in Celestial Vault Castle, so her mood was particularly irritable.

Banda stood behind the female sorcerer, greedily inhaling the fragrance emanating from Teresa, the scent of lavender almost intoxicating him. The duty of standing guard was not a hardship; for the Little Mercenary, it was an ultimate pleasure.

If only that White Wolf Knight would stay out in the wild for a few more days, Banda thought suddenly as he gazed at Teresa’s back and her black hair shimmering with light.

The Blood Axe Mercenary Corps ”successfully” escorted Teresa to this place called Mijordenhaven. At Viert’s insistence, the contract was declared terminated, yet Teresa still paid the Blood Axe a considerable portion of the commission. After the severe loss of manpower in this poor Mercenary Corps, even though Viert took out a sum from the commission as compensation, each person still received a fair share. Banda took the opportunity to buy a set of ready-made chain armor from the city blacksmiths, and then dressed himself anew. He spent every moment of these past two days accompanying Teresa at the city gate.

He really wished these days could last longer.

But reason told the Little Mercenary that this was impossible.

Why was he acting as Lady Trovik’s guard?

Because that knight named Laine had not yet returned.

But what if he did return?

Banda had naturally placed himself into the role of the female sorcerer’s protective duty.

Looking at Teresa’s slender body, Banda continued his thoughts: If Laine was alive, he would soon return, and then Lady Trovik would leave with him. As a member of the Blood Axe Mercenary Corps, he would have to leave her.

If Laine was missing, Lady Trovik would likely go find him or return to Celestial Vault Castle, and he would find no good reason to follow.

So, what if Laine were dead?

As soon as this thought popped into his head, the Little Mercenary scared himself: No, no, Mr. Laine saved my life!

But another voice suddenly said: So what, didn’t you hate these knights of noble birth the most? It would be best if he were dead! Anyway, it wasn’t you who did it, what does it have to do with you?

In an instant, Banda broke into a sweat, and in the cold wind of midwinter, he subconsciously shrank his neck.

But once this thought arose, it couldn’t be banished.

While the Little Mercenary was lost in his wild thoughts, the female sorcerer before him suddenly let out a cry filled with uncontainable joy: ”Laine!!!”

Wearing high-heeled boots, Teresa’s long legs moved quickly. She dashed to the newcomer under the surprised eyes of the guards, her expression fluctuating between surprise and delight. She wanted to get closer but held a bit of hesitation.

”Are you alright?” The female sorcerer, in her sky-blue coat, stood strikingly in front of the man.

”I’m fine, I told you, I promised you I would come back alive.” Laine’s face still bore some scars, but the man managed to muster a smile, assuring Teresa he was alright.

”Yes, I’ve always believed you~” The mountain of heaviness on Teresa’s heart lifted, and she couldn’t help but display a brilliant smile. But she quickly realized something and raised her chin: ”To be my partner, how could you possibly die so easily?”

On the mountain, the snow lotus bloomed.
