The Quest for Immortality

”Mm-hmm!” Mo Hua nodded.

Back when he travelled with his master, he learned many things.

Cultivate for a hundred years, read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles.

Sometimes, if you don’t go outside, don’t open your eyes, don’t look at this vast world, your perspective will inevitably be narrow, and you won’t recognize the true Dao.

He also wanted to take more walks and see more things when he had the time.

But…

Mo Hua asked, “Senior Brother Feng, won’t you wait until forming a Golden Core before traveling?”

”Traveling after forming a Golden Core would be a bit late,” Ouyang Feng said, “Whether it’s a family or sect, once a Golden Core is formed, it counts as a ‘main pillar,’ and you’ll be assigned duties or guard a place, with less free time.”

”Moreover, whether it’s Foundation Establishment Late Stage or Golden Core traveling, it’s actually similar, you can only mix in Second Grade state boundaries.”

”Just after advancing to Golden Core, going to a Third-Grade state boundary especially one where the Taoist Court’s control is lax, laws are relaxed, and evil cultivators are rampant, it is actually more dangerous.”

”Furthermore, forming a Golden Core is not that easy, most cultivators fail many times before succeeding.”

”And, to form a Golden Core with good quality, one must not rush, comprehensive preparation, and a solid foundation is necessary…”

”Just like during Qi Refinement, laying the Taoist Foundation?” Mo Hua asked.

Ouyang Feng shook his head and said, “It’s harder than Qi Refinement, after all, this is Core Formation. Even in Great Families and Great Sects, Core Formation is a watershed, a major threshold in Tao cultivation.”

”Advance, and the sea is boundless; retreat, and you may be trapped your whole life…”

”Oh…” Mo Hua nodded solemnly.

Ouyang Feng looked at Mo Hua with some concern, then said, “Junior Brother Mo, I have a few words, they may sound a bit abrupt…”

Mo Hua nodded, “Please, speak, Senior Brother.”

Ouyang Feng earnestly said, “Junior Brother Mo, regarding cultivation, you need to pay more attention to your spiritual power foundation.”

”Your various techniques are endless; even I watch in amazement, but your spiritual power is too weak, ultimately it’s a disadvantage.”

”The more you progress, the more this becomes evident.”

”Not to mention participating in the Sword Discussion Conference, which requires enduring numerous fierce battles, greatly consuming spiritual power. If the spiritual power is weak, innately deficient, you will deplete after just one or two rounds.”

”In cultivator magic battles, sometimes, dragging to the end, it often depends not on the superiority of Taoist skills, but purely on whose spiritual power foundation is deeper. If it’s deep, you can sustain until the end and win; otherwise, even if the Taoist skill is strong, you can’t outlast others and can only be defeated.”

This point Ouyang Feng deeply understood.

This time at the Sword Discussion Conference, the Tai’a Sect was at a disadvantage in terms of manpower, and many times he was forced to exhaust his spiritual power, leading to defeat.

”Also, have you considered your own Magical Treasure yet?” Ouyang Feng further asked.

Mo Hua shook his head and frankly said, “I haven’t had much thought on that yet.”

Choosing an own Magical Treasure, this issue was indeed tricky.

He had no inheritance, no top-grade Spiritual Artifact, and did not have the opportunity to nurture it from a young age.

Even his cultivation technique was unique, carving out a separate path in the system of Taoist skills, some spell points were even learned by trial and error, without any precedent to refer to. ꞦÀNỖ𝔟ƐṦ

As a result, Taixu Gate’s existing own Magical Treasure inheritances mostly do not fit his cultivation and abilities.

Mo Hua had considered this issue in his spare time, but after thinking it over, he found no good solutions.

In addition, he had many other things to learn, like swordsmanship, formations, movement techniques, leaving little spare time, so the matter of his own Magical Treasure had to be postponed for now.

Ouyang Feng earnestly said, “Golden Core Cultivators rely heavily on their own Magical Treasures; crafting one that aligns life and spirit, melding with spiritual meat, with superior quality, is as crucial as forming a superior-grade Golden Core.”

”It’s best to plan early…”

Ouyang Feng laughed, “I might be talking too much, please don’t take offense, Junior Brother.”

Mo Hua shook his head, “Not at all, thank you, Senior Brother Feng.”

These words indeed reminded him of something.

Some things need to be scheduled earlier, at least start preparing in advance.

Forewarned is forearmed, unprepared means failure.

Don’t wait until you’re about to form a Golden Core to think about your own Magical Treasure.

The two chatted for a while longer, then Ouyang Feng bid farewell, before leaving, he requested Mo Hua:

”Little Wood is my only brother, he is reserved, not very adaptable, in the future, I must ask Junior Brother Mo to take care of him a lot.”

Mo Hua confidently said, “Little Wood can stick with me, don’t worry, Senior Brother Feng!”

Ouyang Feng couldn’t help but smile, then solemnly clasped his hands towards Mo Hua:

”Off to travel, the road is long and uncertain, Junior Brother Mo, farewell in the Jianghu.”

Mo Hua felt reluctant, also clasped his hands and said, “Senior Brother Feng, farewell in the Jianghu!”

The two parted.

In the following years, Mo Hua had not seen Senior Brother Ouyang Feng in Taixu Gate.

Senior Brother Feng should be traveling alone, wandering through various places.

Mo Hua felt melancholy in his heart and could only silently wish him a safe journey…

…

After some time, through numerous disciple exchanges, elder teachings, three-way communication, merit sharing… and a series of methodical measures, the Three Sects Unification plan was gradually being implemented.

And the procedures at the Taoist Court finally reached the last stage.

As long as the Heavenly Right Pavilion of the Taoist Court central approves it, this matter will be conclusive.

By then, there will no longer be separate Tai’a, Chongxu, Taixu Three Sects, only the unified, “Three Mountains” Great Sect—Taixu Gate.
