THE GOD EATER

Anyway, he had refused to accept her offers. Not only did he kill her avatars and make her lose the two pathways, but he had also taken those pathways for himself. So yes, he expected her to be angry with him.

But despite his suspicion and attentiveness, he didn’t notice anything out of place with her oath. He also didn’t notice anything wrong when she dropped the divine crystals.

He could only shake his head and think, ’Maybe I was being paranoid.’

This thought didn’t escape the notice of the Dao Lords, who were amused when they saw it. What amused them the most about what he was thinking was that he was worried about her when he should be worried about a lot more than her.

Martial Will chuckled and said, ”I am still undecided about what to feel about this Ragnarok fellow, but I am sure Black Chain has made up his mind about what to feel.”

With a smile, Tepid Scholar said, ”Maybe he is right not to be worried about Black Chain. After all, once he becomes a Dao Lord, he will be in control of one pathway, which is exactly the same number of pathways that Black Chain currently possesses.”

Immobile Mountain added fuel to the fire by saying, ”What’s more, he will have more room for Entropy than Black Chain. So he will be able to use more of their insignificant power compared to Black Chain.”

This brought about another bout of laughter among the Dao Lords. Down below, Loki could hear their laughter. But he didn’t know what they were laughing about since he couldn’t hear what they were saying.

He didn’t care, though, and was quick to move on.

”Next up is the Money Supreme Metac. Who is interested in this Grand Dao of great power and...”

Before he could finish, Heavenly Eye said, ”5,000 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection.”

Again, no one could compete with her. Just like that, she laid claim to the Money Supreme Metac.

”How can you have so many divine crystals?” Martial Will asked in anger.

But Heavenly Eye only smiled.

Next, Loki presented the Forging Supreme Metac. He raised the silver ball of woven metal to the sky to the Dao Lords while presenting it.

This time, they let him finish presenting the Supreme Metac before bidding on it. But the first person to bid still called out an atrocious price.

Tepid Scholar said, ”5,000 years of divine crystals and 20 years of protection.”

Everyone looked at Heavenly Eye to see if she would compete. But just like she responded to Martial Will earlier, she only smiled while keeping quiet.

When they saw this, everyone knew that something was wrong. It had become too clear to be ignored.

Sword Maestro, as if realizing something, said, ”Wait a minute. You two clearly have a lot of money. So you could have continued to compete earlier for the Death Supreme Metac.”

”You two also didn’t fight for the Luck Supreme Metac or the Money Supreme Metac even though they are powerful and could be useful to the two of you. What is going on?”

Martial Will had a frown on his face as he said, ”I knew that there was a scheme afoot. These two schemers are planning to cheat us.”

Heavenly Eye finally decided to speak. With a sarcastic smile on her face, she said, ”There is no scheme. There is no trickery. We’re only getting what we want. We don’t need to fight over everything. The fact that we’re not fighting doesn’t mean that there is a trick.”

Green Fire nodded and said with certainty, ”She is right. There is definitely a scheme.”

No one believed her. In fact, her saying that there was no scheme made them sure that there was a scheme.

Black Chain, without an ounce of anger, said to Tepid Scholar, ”It seems your advantage of being the first Dao Lord is greater than I imagined.”

Tepid Scholar said with all of the false humility that he could muster, ”It is nothing much. It is just enough to make a living.”

When he saw this pretentious behavior, Martial Will shook his head and said, ”No wonder when I entered the third heaven back then, I didn’t find many divine crystals.”

”I thought that they were very rare to begin with. But now I’m not so sure. Now, I suspect that you took most of the divine crystals available.”

Tepid Scholar didn’t say anything in response to this accusation. In fact, he ignored what Martial Will said and behaved as if he didn’t hear anything at all.

The truth was exactly as Martial Will put it. When Tepid Scholar became the first Dao Lord, he also got to have first pick at every resource available in the upper realm.

Not only did he have the right to choose first, but he could also take as many as he wanted, as if he were at an all-you-can-eat buffet party. And the longer he remained the only Dao Lord, the more he got to eat.

By the time another Dao Lord arrived in the third heaven, he had picked up every easily accessible and valuable resource. So it became very difficult for subsequent Dao Lords to get those precious resources.

Because of this advantage, he was set up to become the richest Dao Lord in the Sea of Worlds. The only Dao Lords who could compete with him were the three Cosmic Dao brothers and Heavenly Eye.

It was easy for Heavenly Eye to find scarce resources in every book and cranny they were hiding in, but the three brothers didn’t need to go looking for resources. For Golden Sun in particular, this Dao Lord of the Luck Pathway was always stumbling into treasure troves of resources.

For some reason, Time Traveler always knew where resources were, while Wandering Thief could go far in his search for resources. The combination of the three made them nearly unstoppable in terms of resource acquisition.
