THE GOD EATER

After thinking deeply about the issue of a reward, the dragon emperor came to a conclusion, His vertical serpentine eyes lit as he said, ”I am a fair and just emperor, so I must do what’s fair and just. I believe that means I must give you the same reward I gave Ajax.”

The dragon informant, who had just relaxed, began to shake again as it said, ”I don’t want a reward, my emperor. Just being of use to you is enough reward for a lifetime.”

But the dragon emperor didn’t listen to him. The dragon emperor had already made up its mind to be fair and just, and the colossal dragon bit down on the dragon informant.

”Please, no. I didn’t do anything wrong. Have mercy on me,” the dragon said as it pleaded for mercy.

But it was too late to plead now. Justice had to be served, so it had to die the same gruesome death that Ajax died.

As the dragon emperor ripped its servants to bloody bits, it said, ”I don’t make the rules. That’s how the world works.”

Sloan, who was lying prostrate on the ground nearby, was subject to blood splattering over her body. She tried to be brave and calm, but the death throes and the sound of rendering meat beside her made it impossible to remain calm.

She wanted to close her eyes and shut off her senses to avoid this gory scene, but she didn’t dare do something so foolish for fear of offending the dragon emperor. So even though she didn’t want to, she paid close attention to everything happening and saw someone being rewarded for doing their job.

As it turned out, it was a good thing that she was paying attention because when the dragon emperor was done rewarding the dragon informant, it said to her, ”What do you think about these two pieces of information? Do you think it is very important?”

Without thinking, she said in reply, ”I believe that it is up to Your Majesty to decide its importance.”

Hearing this, the dragon emperor nodded in satisfaction and said, ”In that case, I think they are important news. I have judged the news to be so important that I would like to recruit that dragon.”

”Of course, that’s if the dragon manages to survive at the end of the day. If it can get away with what it did, then it is worthy of being my second in command.”

Shaking its head, the dragon emperor said in admonishment, ”I still think it was foolish of it to go to the Blessed Heaven World and kill divine beings there. But I’ll still allow it to become my subordinate.”

”Ever since the fall of the dragon god, it has become imperative for us dragons to stick together. So I will take on the responsibility of giving this dragon a purpose.”

Then it smirked and said, ”Maybe it is a good thing that it is foolish. I don’t need it to be smart anyway. I will be the brains, and the brawns, while it will be my extra brawns.”

The dragon emperor was surprised earlier that some random dragon from an unknown, probably backwards world was able to kill some of the strongest cultivators under two Dao Lords. But he didn’t think the dragon could threaten him.

As a rank 8 dragon serving as the dragon king of a large world with a size of 9.9 billion, with seven dragon world kings under its command, and access to 8 World Authorities, it would be very easy for him to kill Monarch Dragon Master and Monarch Dragon Strength.

In the entire sea of worlds, the only ones he believed could threaten him were the avatars of Dao Lords. He was proud, but he didn’t think he could fight the avatar of any Dao Lord.

Not to mention that he is only at rank 8 currently, but even if he advances to rank 9, it will still be very difficult for him to defeat the avatar of a Dao Lord. Especially the avatars of the Dao Lords of the Blessed Heaven World.

So what had surprised him earlier about the unknown Dragon’s feat was that he didn’t think it was possible for any dragon to threaten the strongest cultivators of the Blessed Heaven World.

His disbelief stemmed from the fact that this would be the first time he had heard such news. Ever since this world was sealed away from the rest of the Sea of Worlds, all that they’ve heard is news of dragons being hunted and killed all over the Sea of Worlds.

So the news that a dragon had done something he had never done and could never do in his current situation caught him off guard. His disbelief made him sure that Ajax was lying, so he killed Ajax.

Now that the truth had come to light, he felt hopeful for the future. His lips curled into a smile as he said, ”If that dragon can survive, the two of us can work together to bring back the heyday of dragons to the Sea of Worlds.”

”Don’t you think so?” he asked Sloan.

Sloan, like a good obedient servant, nodded her head in agreement as she said, ”Yes, Your Majesty. You’re always right.”

This made the dragon emperor laugh out loud, ”Hahaha.”

”This is why I keep you around, Sloan. You have a good head on your shoulders and know what to say. For that, you should be rewarded.”

Saying so, he threw something to her.

Sloan hurriedly caught the gift and bowed again and again, knocking her head to the ground, saying, ”Thank you for your generosity, your majesty. Your goodness and mercy know no bounds. Your grace is endless, and may your reign last forever and ever.”

The dragon emperor basked in her praises for a long while. It was a very long while. Sloan had to praise him nonstop for more than 40 minutes before he was satisfied.
