THE GOD EATER

The cold, mysterious force was like water trying to put out the fire of his Divine Spark. It caused his lifespan to leak out like water from a broken dam.

In his bid to stop the loss of his lifespan, he activated the Intangible Divine Metac. The job of this Divine Metac was to free him from touch and any sort of interaction with his existence.

If anything could stop the river of death from killing him, he believed that this was the best tool for it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.

As the Intangible Divine Metac took effect, his body became ethereal and untouchable. But for some reason, the black water could still touch him. The river of death could accurately grasp his ethereal figure and the cold, mysterious force of death was still draining him of his lifespan.

To make it work, he combined the size of all of his Supreme Metacs together to enhance the Freedom Supreme Metac. He now had 15 Supreme Metacs with a combined size of 783, so the power of the Freedom Supreme Metac jumped by 9.67 times.

Despite all of this power, the river of death remained unmoved by him. It was as if he was blustering in vain.

The feeling of being thwarted again made him angry, so he said, ”Is that so? Are you that powerful? Let’s see how you fare against this.”

As he said this, he activated the rank 9 Untouchable Divine Metac of the Domination Pathway.

The Untouchable Divine Metac does the same job as the Intangible Divine Metac but through a different method. It actually creates a barrier around him that is supposed to make external influence unable to interact with him.

Unfortunately, this one failed too. The river of death could still touch the barrier, so the mysterious force could still drain him of his lifespan.

When that didn’t work, he activated the Devouring Ability in anger to see if he could devour the river. This time, his actions backfired.

The mysterious force of death in the black water was able to gain easy and direct access to his Divine Spark through the black force field. So instead of passing through his body like before, the river of death was able to drain him directly from his source.

Earlier, he felt like he was drowning and dying. But when he activated the Devouring Ability, he felt as if he was dead. His entire being froze, including his thoughts.

If not for the fact that his consciousness resided in the spark of power and was largely unaffected by the black water, he would have remained frozen until the river of death drained him to death.

In less than a second of being subjected to this harrowing experience, he withdrew the Devouring Ability. He was like a child withdrawing his hand from touching a flame. He had really been burned.

”So the Danger Sense Metac wasn’t kidding when it said the river of death was dangerous. Why is it dangerous though? Surely, there has to be a level of power that can break free from it.”

”Also, is it me or is the river of death draining more of my lifespan per second than before? Is the power of the river increasing with my power or because of my resistance?”

Then he shook his head and said, ”Forget about it. This isn’t why I came here anyway.”

So he deactivated all of the Supreme Metacs he had activated and withdrew their effects. Only the Divine Metacs of the Freedom Pathway were kept activated.

He kept them activated because he came here to test their effects. If he deactivated them, then he would have come here for nothing.

Fortunately, when the other 14 Supreme Metacs were deactivated, the speed of the loss of his lifespan did decrease. For some reason, the force of death draining his lifespan weakened as he became weaker.

This made him click his tongue and say, ”If the power of the river of death scales infinitely with power, does that mean it can kill everything? But what kind of power is capable of such a thing?”

”Maybe the Divine Metac I need to create next for the Freedom Pathway is something to free me from the power of death. Unfortunately, I still don’t know exactly how the river of death works. It seems the power of my perception is still limited.”

As he spoke, he let his body sink deeper into the river of death. He also didn’t go straight down. Instead, he wandered in a circle around a point as he went down.

For a while, his entire world was that of darkness and silence. There wasn’t even the sound of roaring water from the river around him. It was all cold and dark silence.

He was roaming around in the river of death like this when he bumped into something. What he bumped into gave way for him with a pop like a bubble bursting. Then, all of a sudden, the world changed around him.

The darkness of the black water of the river of death disappeared in a flash, and a new heaven and earth appeared in front of him. This heaven and earth was smaller than the Blessed Heaven World, but it was still as big as a super world.

There was also a red star at the center of this world. The star didn’t have a face, but Loki could tell that it was surprised by the recent development.

With shock, the red star said, ”How did you do? Who are you?”

In response, Loki smiled and said, ”Haven’t you heard? I am free to go anywhere I want now.”

”As for who I am? You can call me Ragnarok,” he said with the same unnerving smile on his face. ”For I am the destroyer of worlds and the end of worlds.”

As he spoke, he activated the Devouring Ability, so a black tide with the power to annihilate a whole world accompanied his words and submerged the whole world.
