THE GOD EATER

Not only did the bullets break the defense of the armor of the giant rhino phantom, but they also flew through the phantom flesh of the giant rhino and dug into the body of the warrior at the center. Then they blasted apart the part of the body of the warrior that they struck.

The rank 4 warrior refused to fall after the first attack, so Loki shot more bullets at him. After three rounds of firing, the giant phantom rhino finally fell from the sky.

He immediately received notification that he had earned 4 grade 4 merit points, which brought a smile to his face. He said, “Four down, six more to go.”

Then he looked back to where his allies were and said, “Where are these people? Do they expect me to do all the work?”

He saw that they were still lagging behind, so he shouted at them and said, “Hurry up. I’m leaving the rest to you.”

After saying this, he took out his token to inform Amelia of his progress. As for the attack on the city, he doesn’t plan to do anymore. This is because he has done the most important things for the city to be defeated.

He has also gained the most that he can gain from this attack. Killing more people won’t earn him any grade 4 merit points, so he left the rest of the defenders to his subordinates.

He said to Amelia, “I have breached the defenses of the city.”

Her voice was full of surprise as she said, “What? So soon?”

He replied, saying, “Yes. The city will fall soon.”

She still couldn’t believe it, so she asked, “What about their protector? I heard he is very powerful.”

Loki said, “He was a rank 4 transformation warrior. He was powerful, but he is dead now.”

She said in disbelief, “To think that the powerful protector that they left there to block our advance has fallen in such a short amount of time. That’s unbelievable.”

“In that case, after the city is secure, you should advance in a straight line to the next city inland. I will take care of the cities adjacent to the one you just took.”

Loki saw her message and realized what she was doing. But he didn’t mind it, so he said to her, “Understood.”

By this time, his subordinates had arrived and were working to clear out the remnants of the warriors still in the city. These remnants were not much since most of the warriors had escaped.

The warriors that had escaped were not going to the cities that flanked this one for refuge. They were falling backwards into the city inland because of the order of their superior before he died.

Since he was going to attack that city anyway, he decided to take his soldiers to pursue the warriors. That way, the warriors won’t be able to reinforce this second city and make it more difficult.

Their pursuit was by land. They caught up to the warriors, surrounded them, and killed them.

What no one expected was for them to encounter a team of warriors rushing to reinforce the city that had just attacked. They were coming from inland, so Loki’s team met them and fought with them for a while.

Loki didn’t do much in this battle. He just killed the most powerful rank 3, which was enough for his team to secure victory.

This fight slowed them down considerably. But even then, they still managed to catch the next city off guard because no one expected the Four Directions Sect to go further inland.

Usually, when a city is attacked and falls, the cities on the left and right are next to be attacked. No one goes further inland to attack because it means risking being surrounded by enemies and cut off from reinforcement.

But Amelia had asked him to take the attack inland, so here he was, doing exactly that. And it was even very easy to do. This was because not only were the defenders of the city not ready for an attack, but they also didn’t have a rank 4 protector.

This city also had far fewer defenders because they had sent their defenders to reinforce the first city that was attacked. It was their soldiers that Loki encountered on the way over.

This situation, plus the fact that any and all reinforcements had gone to the first city that was attacked or to the two cities flanking it, made the city too easy to take.

Loki broke the energy shield again. Then he stood by and let his subordinates mop up the rest of the defenders. That was easy for them because the defenders of the city didn’t put up much of a fight.

As he watched them work from where he was in the air, he said, “This is easy now, but if I’m right about what Amelia is doing, things will become very difficult later on.”

For now, his subordinates didn’t think that there was any problem. In fact, things appear to be going very well for them. Their captain was absurdly strong, and they were killing their enemies easily. So there shouldn’t be a problem.

But even the most ignorant of them realized that something was wrong when the next target was another city further inland. This will make it so that they will be four cities deep into enemy ranks.

Post 419, his original post, is where the ranks of the Four Directions Sect end. Post 421, the one Greg was dismissed from, and he took over recently, is where the ranks of the Martial Body Sect begin.

So post 421 was already within enemy territory. This makes it so that the first city that they attacked is two cities deep within enemy lines, and the second city that they attacked is three cities deep in enemy ranks.

At this point, they are already at risk of being surrounded and submerged by the enemies. But Amelia still wants them to go deeper.
