THE GOD EATER

He hasn’t quite reached the level that Greg was before the crazy fellow was dismissed from his rank, but this is the highest he can buy with grade 3 merit points.

He can still earn grade 3 merit points to buy Reincarnation Insurance, Awakening Insurance, Awakening Bestowal, and Society Creation Authority. But he doesn’t need those things as he is sure that he won’t be able to take them with him when he reverses time.

He is sure that he won’t be able to take them with him because they are linked to his identity as a member of the sect, not to himself. So if he loses his identity, which he will do when he reverses time, he will have to earn merit points to buy them again.

As it is, he is not yet sure if he can take his Dao Status into the past. But he is sure that he won’t be able to take the Life Insurance with him.

However, he still acquired the Life Insurance because it will make those who want to kill him hesitate to do so. The sight of the banner above his head informing every inner sect disciple of the Four Directions Sect that he is captain in the sect army, and also possessed a grade life insurance, gave him some confidence to be fearless.

Of course, only inner sect disciples of the Four Directions Sect who can see the banner can be deterred by it. Outer sect disciples who haven’t paid their awakening debt won’t be able to see the banner and won’t be deterred by it.

The disciples of the Martial Body Sect also can’t see the banner. But this only made him chuckle and say, “Not that they will care even if they can see the banner. Certainly not after what I have done to them, what I am doing to them, and what I am going to do to them. So I can only fight them to the death when I see them.”

He liked the peace and quiet on the airship as it let him easily focus on his energy threads. Unfortunately for him, the peace didn’t last long.

A few hours after he began to concentrate, he heard a siren from the city. This was a sign that the city was under attack.

So he groaned and said, “It looks like the warriors are back for another round. What a hassle.”

As he stood up, he popped the joints of the bones in his neck by bending them. Then he said, “I just hope that they brought a rank 4 warrior this time around. It is the least that they can do after wasting my time now.”

After standing up, he moved his head around looking for the enemy. What he saw was a band of people rushing over on foot.

From what he could see, there had to have been over a hundred of them. The many strong people smashing their feet into the ground made a sound as loud as the passing of a thousand horses.

They were not a thousand horses. They were just a hundred warriors, but no one who saw them doubted that they were not an army.

They were as loud as an army, they kicked up as much dust as an army, and they looked as imposing as an army. By Loki’s definition, this made them an army.

The giants among this group were the most obvious ones. Even from his position so far away, he could see the giants stomping on the ground.

The giants stood out from the group like peacocks among a flock of chickens. Some of them were even leaping great distances in their bid to reach the city as fast as possible. They literally jumped out of the group as if they couldn’t wait for him to see them.

Behind the giants were the transformers. They were surrounded by phantom figures of various animals. These phantom animals were giant things and were of various colors.

In general, the giants were about as fast as the transformers. This is despite the fact that the giants were surely stronger than the transformation cultivators.

The transformation cultivators made it so that what he saw was a tide of various giant creatures stampeding towards the city. Then there were the humans who were as big as the giant creatures running along the giant creatures.

Finally, there were two warriors flying above and ahead of the group. Both of them were giants, so both of them were huge specimens of the human form.

This sight of the two giants made the other disciples of the Four Directions Sect begin to fear for their lives. Even Ivory, who was a rank 4 cultivator, said gravely, “It seems the Martial Body Sect is taking things seriously this time around.”

Only Loki’s eye lit up as he said cheerfully, “Wow! Two at a time? Lucky me.”

In order to get a better look at them, he squinted at the two giants. He saw that both of them had long hair and a feminine face, which indicates that they were female. But he couldn’t be sure that they were females because both of them were wearing metal armor.

The armor they were wearing was mostly a helmet and chest armor. They were wearing nothing to protect their arms and legs.

As scanty as the armor was, he still complained about it by throwing his hands into the air and saying, “Come on. I thought they didn’t like technology. What’s with this armor now? They are clearly cheating with it.”

“If they can run here on their two feet instead of taking a vehicle, they should be able to come here to participate in a fight to the death without armor. Wasn’t it a matter of pride not to use any technology and only rely on their body?”

“This is just shameful. If they are not ashamed of the armor, I am ashamed for them.”

Then, when he spotted their weapons, he began another round of complaints.
