Chapter 1494 Labyrinth of Sound(16)

Chapter 1494: Labyrinth of Sound(16)

As its name suggested, the Labyrinth of Sound was a maze where even a minor sound turned into a dangerous intensity. Every step taken there resulted in an explosion-like sound, rupturing the eardrums of the user.

As the danger was high, so was the reward associated with it. Anyone who entered the labyrinth and safely brought the prince outside would be awarded five low Experience Cores and a medal from the Kingdom.

The medal wasnʼt a simple reward; it had real effects. The medal bearer could ask the Kingdom for its help once. Since the medal would be of the lowest level, the user could summon a helper between Level 1 and Level 3, and the Kingdom couldnʼt refuse that.

Anyway, the challenger couldnʼt refuse the challenge until Level 4, so Huo Jinglin had no choice in that case at all.

He still had nine more free teleportations left, so he immediately used another of them and teleported to the entry point of the labyrinth.

It was a dangerous area that had been long in existence, even before the creation of the Heles Kingdom, so there were always guards stationed all around it.

When Huo Jinglin appeared there, he found thousands of people like him who wanted to partake due to the high reward. He heard discussions about the prince and the situation of those who had entered the labyrinth before.

When Huo Jinglin appeared there, he found thousands of people like him who wanted to partake due to the high reward. He heard discussions about the prince and the situation of those who had entered the labyrinth before.

As Huo Jinglin had expected, all those who had entered the labyrinth had been proven to be dead. He could only sigh helplessly. If he had the choice, he wouldnʼt accept the mission at all.

But since he was already there, he couldnʼt keep being afraid. He took a deep breath and walked toward the entry point.

A guard was waiting there and as he was about to enter, the guard asked Huo Jinglin to leave some of his aura on the device in the guardʼs hands.

Huo Jinglin nodded since the device was the reason behind the Kingdom announcing the death of all those who had entered the labyrinth before him.

After leaving some of his aura, Huo Jinglin took a deep breath and stepped inside the labyrinth. The next moment, Huo Jinglin found himself inside, staring at the sprawling network of twisting passageways that seemed to be carved from one stone. The walls were smooth and unyielding, rising to towering heights. They cast long shadows that seemed to dance with the flickering light of the torches placed at regular distances along the corridor.

The labyrinth didnʼt seem dangerous from its outer appearance at all. No one who would come there for the first time without having any information about it would believe that it had killed tens of thousands of people in just a span of three days.

Once he entered the passageway, the true terror of the labyrinth would reveal itself, so he walked forward after taking a deep breath.

BOOM!

A loud sound rang in Huo Jinglinʼs ears as his right foot landed in the passageway. Since it was only the start, it wasnʼt that intense, but it still shook him.

Fortunately for him, he had anticipated him, so he had already prepared himself to remain steady and not make even a slight sound from his unsteady movement.

”How can you hope for power from this trial when your father is worried outside?” Suddenly, a voice that sounded just like Huo Pinglu rang in his ears.

Knowing that the voice was coming from the air inside the passageways, Huo Jinglin gritted his teeth and ignored it. If simply the enhancement of the sound was the danger, the labyrinth would have been fully explored until now. The enhancement of the sound was only one of its dangers.

The inside of the passageway finally revealed itself to him after his entry, so he looked around. Strange symbols adorned the walls, with their meaning unknown to Huo Jinglin. Yet he could feel an otherworldly aura from their presence in the maze.

The voices ringing in his ears were not stopping, so Huo Jinglin decided to end the challenge as quickly as he could. Since the prince was still alive, he shouldnʼt have gone deeper into the labyrinth.

Since there was only one passageway to enter the labyrinth, Huo Jinglin started in the right direction.

After every step he took, Huo Jinglin had to stop and face the brunt of an explosion like sound in his ears. When he reached the end of the road, there were now two passageways in front of him. At that time, his ears were bleeding.

The sound wasnʼt simply auditory, so even if Huo Jinglin were to destroy his eardrums, he would still hear them with such intensity.

Now that there were two pathways, Huo Jinglin could choose the wrong direction in comparison to the prince. Since his divine senses were restricted, he couldnʼt use them to explore the road firsthand. He could only enter a pathway and hope to find the prince, or he would have to return to the road and choose another pathway.

Huo Jinglin chose the road on the right and walked inside after a deep breath.

RING!

Immediately, a ringing sound rang in his ears. It seemed to have drilling capability, and in no time, the injury in his ears grew to a higher level.

Huo Jinglin gritted his teeth so as not to make any sound from his mouth.

After his fourth step, his eardrums were completely ruptured. The soundʼs intensity only grew and began to affect other senses.

When Huo Jinglin reached the end of the road, he found another dual pathway ahead of him.

He could only frown when he saw the path, but after thinking for a while, he turned around and decided to walk toward the first road.

There was no change from the pain, so when Huo Jinglin again returned to the end of the first road with two paths in front of him, his eyes were also bleeding.

Huo Jinglin couldnʼt even dare to take a deep breath since even that would make some sound.
