Chapter 1288: What to Do?(6)

As Kernel came out of the effects of the aura, he attacked. His eyes began glowing blue as if the wave of a tsunami was coming.

The Abyssal Butterfly knew it was an attack, so it didnʼt want to look into his eyes. But there was a weird attraction, not allowing it to move its eyes, and it pushed toward it. When the Abyssal Butterfly looked into Kernelʼs eye, it found the world around it changing. The next moment, it was in front of a gigantic ocean wave approaching it while a silent ocean was at its back.

The wave was coming at it at full speed, aiming to throw it and drown it in the ocean. Suddenly, the tendrils atop its wingtips moved.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The next moment, cracks began to emerge from the gigantic wave and the calm ocean at the back. In no time, the entire environment cracked into countless shards like glass. As soon as it came out of the illusion, it was attacked.

Kernel knew he wouldnʼt be able to force the creature to stay in that illusion for long enough to severely injure it, so it was only a distraction before his next attack.

Kernel had five blue energies atop the tips of each of his right fingers. They looked like sharp needles that could pierce through even the sky. He then reached the beast and slashed it.

The Abyssal Butterfly had only come out of the illusion, so it was extremely difficult for it to dodge the attack. It had no choice but to defend.

Time flew by, and several hours had passed since the battle between Kernel and the Abyssal Butterfly began.

Sometimes Kernel would be in the lead, and other times it would be the Abyssal Butterfly.

Kernel was still saving his ultimate attack for the climax, and it would come once the Abyssal Butterfly activated [Eternal Shadow].

The characteristic was like a boost but of its own kind. It not only boosted the beastʼs strength, but it also had a variety of skills that could be used during the activation.

The most significant moment of the battle finally arrived as the Abyssal Butterfly felt the time to activate the [Eternal Shadow] had arrived.

As the activation was complete, a wave of darkness emerged from the wings of the beast and began to submerge the surroundings. In no time, the darkness had engulfed an area of ten thousand miles.

That range became the Abyssal Butterflyʼs playground. It could instantly teleport to any corner of that region, while Kernel would be bound by intense pressure if he wanted to move around.

Kernelʼs face had grown solemn, as despite fearing it so much, he had underestimated the effect of the characteristic.

The next moment, a beautiful yet spine-chilling melody began ringing. As Kernel heard it, his ears began to bleed, and his body started to shake in fright.

His eyes had turned horrified as if he had seen something terrible. It was only the beginning, as more time passed, the effect of the melody grew.

The Abyssal Butterflyʼs eyes were cold, as if nothing else mattered at that stage. It couldnʼt let Kernel survive the phase because once the boost was deactivated, it would be in a weak condition, waiting to get subdued by the opponent.

One of the abilities it gained during the activated state was Foresight. It allowed the Abyssal Butterfly to see the attacks of its opponents for five seconds in the future.

Because of the Foresight ability, the beast knew Kernel would be able to free himself, so it immediately attacked. Wisps of tendril began to emerge from the ground and started to seep into Kernel, who was shaking with fright.

As more and more tendrils seeped into his body, the effect of the pressure on Kernel grew. At first, his body was stable, but after the tendrils, it could be seen that his back was bent as if he were carrying something heavy.

Time flew by, and Kernelʼs consciousness returned to the store. His back and forehead were wet with sweat as he looked at the beast card.

Kernel was not wrong in fearing the [Eternal Shadow]. What he had feared happened in the end. It was as if the battle had completely changed.

The boost was active for three minutes, but it took less than a minute to defeat Kernel, and a brutal defeat at that.

Kernel took a deep breath, with disappointment clearly evident in his eyes, when he saw the beast card fade from the card compartment. The effects of the battle didnʼt come out with Kernel, so his condition was as stable as it was before entering the taming battle.

The next moment, an alert about payment rang in his head. Since failing the taming battle had a cost of one percent of the beastʼs price, Kernel needed to pay that.

The store owner had already told him about it, so he wasnʼt very surprised. He accepted the alert, and the next moment, seventy ultimate and eleven higher Sacred stones were deducted from the stones in the card.

Kernel then left the queue since other customers were waiting behind him. Once he left the line, he stopped and began thinking of what to do next.

Seventy stones werenʼt that big of a sum for him, so it didnʼt affect him much. What made him fall into a dilemma was whether to summon another beast or wait to get strong enough to defeat the Abyssal Butterfly.

Kernel then suddenly took out cards from his space ring, and when he looked at them, he had already gotten his answer.

Kernel wanted to step into the Sacred King level as quickly as he could since it would be equivalent to reaching the Supreme God from the Divine Lord level.

But the Abyssal Butterfly made him put a halt to that decision. He no longer wanted to step into the Sacred King level at that stage. What he needed was to learn the skills and come back to defeat the Abyssal Butterfly. After that, he would think of the breakthrough.

Once Kernel thought like that, he felt it was the correct choice, so he immediately decided to implement it.
