The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 419: A Family with Past Entanglements

After that, no matter what Jacinta said, Shien couldn’t listen anymore.

This guy not only wanted to poach his maid, but also his dragon. How could Shien give him a good look?

He hadn’t even had enough fun being a dragon knight yet!

Therefore, Shien refused to listen to Jacinta anymore.

However, Jacinta did say one thing right.

“She should have a better future. You can’t ignore her future and prevent her from transforming into a human just because of your own selfish desires, right?”

Shien agreed with Jacinta on this point.

After all, Yulin was a dragon with a bright future, just one step away from the level cap of one hundred. Not letting her transform into a human, become a demon, and gain even greater potential and power would be a waste of her talent and a delay of her growth.

In fact, Yulin herself was very tempted by this.

However, her pride as a dragon wouldn’t allow her to abandon her master after willingly submitting to him.

Dragons were proud beings.

Airi, apart from things she was interested in, was indifferent to everything else.

Jacinta seemed smooth and slick, but this Tyrant was also known for his arrogance and brutality in the past, a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield a thousand years ago.

Dragons were like this, possessing strong pride. If others tried to force them, they would rather die together or even commit suicide.

For example, during the demonic transformation ritual in the Atlus Gorge, Yulin stubbornly resisted the ritual, refusing to compromise and become a monstrous being.

But once they recognized someone, their pride wouldn’t allow them to betray that recognition.

Airi was like this. After acknowledging Shien, even if she was bullied by him, she would only be annoyed, retaliate, or even teach Shien a lesson, but she wouldn’t resent him and always stayed by his side.

Yulin was the same. After submitting to Shien, he was her only master. Even Airi, the Dragon Lord, the King of Dragons, couldn’t order or force her to do anything, let alone make her abandon Shien and leave alone.

Therefore, Shien knew that Yulin was actually very tempted by Jacinta’s proposal, but she was unwilling to abandon him.

Under such circumstances, Shien naturally wouldn’t keep Yulin by his side just to not lose his mount.

Of course, Shien also didn’t intend to accept Jacinta’s persuasion.

Because his name was Shien, not Ash Ketchum.

Therefore, Shien retorted directly,

“You make it sound so nice, but aren’t you just trying to get Yulin to go to the Demon Realm and join you?”

“Does she have to go to the Demon Realm to transform into a human?”

“Airi is here with me. With her guidance, can’t Yulin transform?”

“Stop making excuses.”

Shien’s words left Jacinta speechless.

“…You want Master to help your mount transform into a human?”

Jacinta looked at Shien with an indescribable expression.

“What? Is there a problem?”

Shien said confidently.

However, his confident words made Jacinta, and Nadue, who was observing all this, subconsciously want to say—You’re thinking too much.

A dignified Dragon Demon, how could she be ordered around by you?

He must be naive to think that way.

However, Shien ignored their mockery, turned around, returned to the mansion, barged into Airi’s room, and woke up the sleeping girl without any explanation. 𐍂𝖆ƝọᛒЁＳ

Jacinta and the others, who followed him, changed their expressions upon seeing this.

“This guy, how dare he wake up Master (the Dragon Demon) so rudely…!?”

Jacinta, Jace, Liece, and even Nadue were shocked and angry.

But before they could react, what happened next stunned them.

Airi, rudely awakened, had a dark expression, as if she was about to kill someone at any moment, but Shien ignored it, pestering her, even pulling her into his arms and messing with her, finally making the so-called Dragon Demon surrender.

“Alright, alright, I’ll help you. Get out now and let me sleep!”

The moment Airi’s exasperated voice rang out, everyone, including Nadue, gaped, their expressions a mixture of shock and amusement.

“Master…”

Jacinta stammered, wanting to say something, but Airi glared at him murderously.

“Get out!”

“Yes!”

Jacinta, Liece, and Jace shuddered and fled Airi’s room.

Only Shien, still holding Airi’s soft body, reminded her,

“You promised. Don’t go back on your word.”

After making the agreement, Shien put Airi down, tucked her in, and left with a happy skip in his step.

“That idiot…” Airi’s face was still dark, but she also felt helpless. “He didn’t even realize I was already doing it. Both master and dragon, such slowpokes…”

After complaining, Airi went back to sleep.

As for Shien, after leaving Airi’s room, he was immediately met with complicated looks from Jacinta and the others.

“How are you worthy of Master’s favor?”

In the end, Jacinta could only leave behind these words filled with jealousy before leaving with Jace and Liece, who were also unwilling to accept this.

“Trying to compete with me?”

Shien smiled smugly.

That being said, Shien knew that he owed Airi another big favor.

“I’ll buy her some sweets from Lilith’s shop when I go out.”

Shien knew how to please his Dragon Demon Princess.

…

After Jacinta and his group left, Shien wandered around the mansion again.

He didn’t see any of the girls.

Leisha hadn’t woken up yet. Lasha had said before that Leisha also loved to sleep and wasn’t good at waking up early, so she was probably still in bed, unaware that Lasha was changing her clothes and helping her wash up, right?

Vivian and the others had gone out.

Because of the husband selection competition, many nobles and influential figures from other countries had come to the royal capital, making the city much livelier recently, but also causing many conflicts.

Some of these nobles were political rivals, while others were from countries still at war, harboring deep hatred. Now that they were suddenly gathered together, how could there not be trouble?

Therefore, recently, the Adventurers’ Guild had received many requests for mediation, security maintenance, escorting important figures, and so on, with very generous rewards, making it a feast for adventurers, and many people chose to seize this opportunity to make a fortune.

Vivian and the others had joined this trend.

This wasn’t just to earn rewards, but also for Diere.

Because it seemed that many nobles from the Ragna Empire had also come, even a prince, and among them was the prestigious family to which Diere’s mother belonged. To avoid Diere encountering them in the capital, Vivian and the others had to take Diere away under the pretext of missions.

Leisha recalled something Vivian had told her.

“That family has been asking the Kingdom to return Diere to them. They claim that the environment here is no longer suitable for Diere, but everyone knows they just value her talent and her Hero’s bloodline, wanting to turn her into their weapon.”

This wasn’t unfounded.

Shien had also heard that this prestigious family from the Ragna Empire was a military family, very skilled at training spies and assassins, and secretly had an assassination squad. This assassination squad had even fought against the [Assassination Branch] for a while, and in the end, neither side could defeat the other, so the matter was dropped.

At that time, the [Assassination Branch] wasn’t the declining Old Demon Faction that suffered heavy casualties after attacking the capital ten years ago, but was at its peak. Although they didn’t have any high-level experts, they were a powerful force with thousands of skilled assassins, spies, and covert operatives.

The fact that this family could fight the [Assassination Branch] on equal footing showed how skilled their assassination squad was.

It was also because of this that they even used their own daughter, sending her to the Kingdom through marriage to become a spy, waiting for an opportunity.

The [Assassination Branch]’s attack on the capital might have also been instigated by this family.

In the Empire, this family was also considered the most cold-blooded and cruel noble family, willing to do anything to achieve their goals.

How could such people possibly take Diere in and care for her out of concern for her well-being?

They definitely valued Diere’s talent and wanted to train her into a weapon, which was why they made such a decision.

Of course, they wouldn’t succeed.

Not to mention that the Kingdom hated the Empire and this family, Lucy, who had already become friends with Diere, wouldn’t just stand by and watch Diere be taken away by the Empire.

“Even so, I heard they haven’t completely given up on this. This time, the descendants of that family have also appeared in the capital. To avoid conflict between Diere and them, it’s better to keep them apart.”

With this thought, Vivian had been carefully selecting missions recently, trying to choose those that wouldn’t involve encountering those people, using this as an excuse to take Diere away.

When he learned about this, Shien asked about the family name.

“Raifurut… huh?”

Shien couldn’t help but ponder.

He felt a faint stirring in his heart.

This feeling was somewhat familiar to Shien.

“Another revelation like the effect of Lucy’s blessing, right?”

In other words, if nothing unexpected happened, he might have some dealings with this Raifurut family next.

And it would be a significant conflict.

“Interesting.”

Shien wasn’t afraid, but instead smiled.

Then, Shien turned around and left the mansion.
