The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 192: Don’t Let That Guy Break It

Originally, Lucy had meant to give Shien a reminder to stay on his guard so as to not get pulled along by certain nobles. To avoid getting his words used against in during the audience.

Lucy didnʼt really have any worries when it comes to this audience besides that.

Although this audience is indeed going to be complicated, that was all. Thereʼs no way that anything actually dangerous would happen.

Pulling aside everything else, the King and princess had already decided that theyʼre on Shienʼs side. Add on the Latrard and Arbin families supporting from the side, thereʼs no way that anyone would dare to do anything blatant.

The royalty is still the royalty after all. Even if their rule isnʼt quite absolute, their influence is still far above that of any noble. Baring exceptions were they actually face strong opposition from the vast majority, anything that the royalty decides will basically happen in the end.

Therefore, although this audience will be complicated, so long as Shien keeps his cool and donʼt go blundering into any serious traps, then no matter how complicated things get, itʼll remain a matter between the royalty and the nobility. Nothing could possibly happen to Shien himself, and what should go to him will end up going to him in the end.

But now, Lucy feels like she really does need to properly worry a bit over the audience.

But, is there really any time left for her to start worrying over it now?

No. There is no time left.

At the very least, while Lucy was still trying to convince Shien while Shien was pretending deafness, a voice came from outside the door again.

”Your highness, the audience is about to start. Please take Mr. Shien to the throne room.”

Hearing that, Lucy despaired.

Shien on the other hand acted like nothing had happened at all. His previous unhappiness had completely vanished and he just stood up and spoke.

”Letʼs go.”

With that, Shien left first.

”… Oh goddess of fate above, please donʼt let that guy break the Mitra Kingdom.”

Lucy could only stand back up in resignation and follow along, sighing all the while.

…

The throne room.

This was the center of the royal palace, as well as the highest audience chamber.

The room itself is unbelievably huge. Itʼs solemnly decorated, giving off a heavy presence. Even the atmosphere here feels more tense than that of any other place.

Right now, there was already a lot of people present in the audience chamber.

First was a horde or knights lined up straight and in formation on the left like theyʼre an army.

Those knights all wore high quality equipment. Their armors were polished and shining, as well as giving off magical waves. It showed that all those equipment are in fact magic items. Even the swords on their waists are all magic weapons. It was a blatant display of what it means to be rich beyond measure, what it means to be the highest knight order in the land.

Those knights are the royal knights that the Kingdom is so proud of.

At this moment, each of those royal knights stood there solemnly, giving off a powerful presence. It was obvious that each and every one of them was an elite.

Besides those royal knights, there were also a number of well dressed nobles on scene.

They gathered up on the right of the room, facing the royal knights. Rather than the knights who emitted an aura of might, they instead gave off a feeling of intelligence and competence. That said, itʼs not like there werenʼt also those who were completely average or even utterly useless. They made a sharp contract compared to the well disciplined knights.

Vivian, Balon, Leon, and Alrith were standing properly on the right side. Vivian was as cool and gentle as always and Alrith continued to be his boisterous self, but Balon and Leon both seemed somewhat nervous.

That was especially true for Leon. Sweat poured down from his face. It was obvious that he had never encountered such a scene before.

Right now, the audience was about to start. Unlike the royal knights, the nobility and administrators were all quietly chatting among themselves.

This lasted for only a little while until a movement from the entrance interrupted this scene.

”————”

When Shien and Lucy walked into the room, everyone in the room all gave each other a glance before quieting down, their gazes now focused on the new entries.

Shien just felt a number of gazes concentrated on him, making him feel like there was some unseen weight pressing down on him.

Lucy just stood by Shienʼs side, as elegant and calm as always. She had completely entered her princess mode.

However, she didnʼt leave Shienʼs side even so. Instead, she continued to follow next to him.

This made Shien clearly feel that the gazes on him have all turned even heavier and sharper.

Obviously, a lot of people rather disliked the fact that he was walking in step with the treasure of the Kingdom.

Unfortunately for them, Shien had long since prepared himself to deal with that.

Thus, Shien raised his head with a smile in his heart.

Then, Shien enacted what he had already previously planned to.

”Tap!”

Shien stepped forward, letting his footstep ring clearly across the room.

In that instant, his magic power rose up, transforming into a terrifying aura, blasting out from Shienʼs form.

This was indeed one of Shienʼs maxed out skills ———— [Intimidation].

That terrifying aura turned into tangible pressure, instantly covering the entire room.

”————!”

In that instant, everyone in the throne room visibly reacted.

Including Vivian.

Including Balon, Leon, and Alrith.

Of course, it even included Lucy who was following closely behind Shien.

Everyone could clearly feel a terrifying pressure crushing down on them. The royal knights all visibly reacted, and the nobility and administrators even more so.

Shien decided to simply start with a show of force.

And this show of force wasnʼt over yet either.

”Tap – tap – tap – tap –”

As those clear footsteps rang out one after another, Shien slowly walked into the throne room toward the throne.

The scene was reminiscent of a king getting ready to ascend to his own throne. Everyone there could hardly breath through their shock.

And with every step Shien too, every step closer to everyone there he got, the more terrible the aura coming from him became. And with it, the pressure crushing down on everyone became heavier and heavier, making them shake on their feet.

Until finally…

”Bang!”

An administrator couldnʼt take it anymore and knelt down on the spot.

”Bang!” ”Bang!” ”Bang!” ”Bang!” ”Bang!” …

With that, it was like a chain reaction. The knees of those nobles and administrators buckled and they fell to their knees with a terrified expression, their faces drained of blood.

”Ugh…!”

”Gah…!”

Even the royal knights started breathing heavily. Some unconsciously took a step back, while others grit their teeth and tried to hold on. Either way, they all still stared at Shien in shock.

Finally, not even Vivian could stop herself from showing a serious expression. Balon and Alrith also both took a knee. Leon needs even less mentioning, he had already completely collapsed onto the ground, utterly terrified.

Of of everyone there, only a few managed to completely overcome this aura.

One had been silent the whole time before finally letting out a sigh. It was Lucy who had been silently following alongside Shien the whole time.

One was standing at the forefront of the royal knights. It was Aldia who had been staring impassively at Shien.

And there were also a few up on the throne.
