The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 158: “Who’s Scared!”

In the palace training ground, a furious battle filled with countless flashes and afterimages of blades was taking place.

Two figures moved like bolts of lightning. As the they retreated and pursued, flashes of sword swings filled the air as the two Holy Swords furiously clashed.

”Clang clang clang clang clang————!”

The impact of steel on steel continuously rang out.

”Boom! Boom boom…!”

Sonic booms also constantly filled the air.

Even sparks kept on spraying everywhere in the air. Every time they appeared represented a clash between Holy Swords, filling the grounds with dazzling sparks in a terrifying display.

If a third person was around, theyʼd definitely be amazed at this battle.

If the stands were filled with people, theyʼd definitely have filled the air with cheers at the sight.

It was an amazing and fierce battle, which made the fighting spirits of the rise with each exchange. As it continued, magic power started blasting out like a storm, shaking the air.

”Clang!”

After an unknown amount of time, a clash more fierce and clear than the various previous ones rang out.

The two Holy Swords have already clashed an innumerable number of times, but this time, one particular party was stronger, forcing the other back.

The one who was pushed back though was Shien.

Shienʼs figure suddenly shook like he was struck by lightning and he dashed backwards. With a bunch of ”tap tap tap” sounds, his feet stomped the ground as he backed off several meters in distance before he finally stopped himself.

”That strength of yours is a bit much isnʼt it…!?” Shien couldnʼt hold himself back from complaining.

It couldnʼt be helped.

It has to be mentioned. At this moment, Shien had already used the [Limit Evolution] skill. All his stats have been explosively buffed, and the amount of magic power he was spending far outpaced the rate from back when he fought Baydr.

In other words, the current Shien was even stronger than back when he fought Baydr. However, he was still forced back by the dainty and delicate looking princess whose level was far lower than Baydr.

However…

”You should be proud.”

Shien heard a beautiful voice.

”Even among the Kingdomʼs prided royal knights, the number of people who could take that strike just now could probably counted on oneʼs fingers. Now you have joined them.”

With such a statement, Lucyʼs figure once again blasted forth like a tempest toward Shien. On Shienʼs side, all he perceived was a flash before his eyes before the Holy Swordʼs slash was already before him.

However, mere speed was useless against Shien.

Thatʼs because the terrifying combat abilities brought by the [War God] skill allows his body to automatically react.

Thus, by the time Lucyʼs Holy Sword had reached him in a flash, Shienʼs own Holy Sword had formed into a countering flash, parrying upwards.

”Clang!”

A clear sound rang out. Sparks splashed about. The Holy Swords once again clashed in the air once more and separated.

However, Lucyʼs attack didnʼt stop.

”Whoosh whoosh whoosh…!”

Lucy simply turned about directly in midair. She withdrew her parried Holy Sword and stabbed out three times separately at Shienʼs chest, stomach, and thigh. Those three stabs were practically done at the same time as if breaking the laws of space and time, and stabbed out toward Shien at the same instant.

Such superb swordsmanship. As expected of an elite whose [Two-handed Sword] skill was at level 8.

However, if itʼs just the level of the [Two-handed Sword] skill, then Shienʼs was unquestionably even higher than Lucyʼs.

Given that, when Lucy launcher her instantaneous three stabs, Shienʼs Holy Sword suddenly spun and sliced forth like a windmill.

”Clang!”

With the sound of the first clash, the stab at the chest was parried upward.

”Clang!”

With the sound of the second clash, the stab at the stomach was blown off to the side.

”Whoosh!”

The third sound was of air parting. The stab at the thigh was dodged, missing Shienʼs leg by a space of five centimeters.

With the swordsmanship brought by his [Two-handed Sword] skill and the aid of the [Dodge] skill, Shien had resolve each of Lucyʼs strikes.

Then, Shien actually directly raised up the leg that had just dodged a stab and, in a flash, viciously kicked out at Lucy before him.

”Bang!”

With a bang, Shienʼs kick landed on the arm that Lucy raised up in time and sent her flying.

No, it should instead be said that Lucy utilized the force from the kick to move back, purposefully making some distance between the two of them.

”Youʼre very strong, as expected.” Lucy shook her arm as she glared at Shien and begun complaining, ”Beside teacher, youʼre the first person who had been able to force me back. What about this is anything like the power of someone level 24?”

”Plus that level of swordsmanship. That level of movements, and that level of physical abilities. You should have learned a lot of skills, right?”

”Youʼve been in this world for less than a month, and youʼve already learned so many skills and have raised their levels so high… No, it might be even higher than mine.”

”Whatʼs noob about you? Thatʼs a blatant lie!”

Lucy stated her strong objections.

But Shien had his own words to say.

”When it comes to someone who could force me back, youʼre also the first ever, alright?”

Shien watched Lucy as she made distance between them. Even though theyʼve had such a furious battle so far, she still didnʼt have a hair out of place, or even a speck of dust on her. Seeing that Lucy was looked as poised as ever, he only felt like his mission to kick her ass moving further from him.

After all, besides the sealed Holy Sword, Shien had nearly used everything he had already.

Yet, the result is that up until now, Shien hadnʼt even dealt a single effective strike against Lucy. He could serious say that this was going to be somewhat difficult.

Shien had originally though that he could at least force Lucy to use her unique skill. However, who would have thought that Lucy hadnʼt shown any signs of using a unique skill from start to end. And even so, she had fought Shien to such a state, and even had a slight advantage.

If she brought out that rumored super strong unique skill, then Shien felt like itʼs unknown if he could win even if he unsealed his Holy Sword.

”In the end, itʼs the lack of build up time, huh?” Shien had that realization.

No matter how one puts it, having only been in this world for less than a month, Shienʼs level was just too low. He could have kept increasing his number of skills. Thus, it wouldnʼt be easy for him to win against Lucy, who had a protagonistʼs aura since birth, worked hard for over a decade, and have broken so many records.

Lucy seemed to be thinking the same thing, but she wasnʼt happy at all.

To have been forced to this state by a newbie Hero who hasnʼt even been in this world for a month. Just who would be happy about that?

Thus…

”Iʼm getting serious now.”

Lucy raised up the Holy Sword in her hand, her magic power flowed into the words, making the blade shine with crimson magic power.

Seeing that, Shien wanted to curse.

”Planing on using even [Magic Sword]?”
