The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 155: Really Didn’t Mean To Shock You

”Shink!”

The light from the Holy Sword was still shining. Although it wasnʼt as strong as it was before the seal, it was still enough to allow anyone to clearly feel the divine aura from it.

Shien and Lucy looked at each other. Then, they had no choice but to face facts.

”It looks like a single sealing ring isnʼt though to seal the full power of your Holy Sword huh.”

Lucy gave Shien a deeply meaningful look.

”Cough…” Shien coughed before speaking quietly, ”Is this kind of thing normal?”

”Of course not.” Lucy spoke somewhat angrily, ”These sealing rings are forged of divine steel, which are the highest grade of magical alloy there is. During the war, even the gods and demons would fight over this particular magic alloy. Currently, with the world split into the divine realm, mortal world, and human world, this magic alloy can only be found in the divine realm. Only a couple pieces could be produce every century even, and only the gods that control forging are capable of working the divine steel too. Do you think this is normal?”

”… Here I though that these sealing rings only have collectorʼs value nowadays.”

Shien discovered that he was wrong about that.

If the Diven Swordʼs sealing rings are really that valuable in terms of material alone, then one could probably sell one for a ton of money, right?

Since he saw Lucy just casually pull these magic items out without any hesitation, Shien had thought that they werenʼt all that valuable. However, thinking on it more carefully, Lucy is the princess of the nation of the Hero, and sheʼs also the only royal in a thousand years to have inherited the Holy Sword and title of Hero. Itʼs obvious just how rich she was.

Thus, Lucy being so generous didnʼt actually mean that what she gave away werenʼt valuable.

Of course…

”Although they have quite the reputation, given the fact that the thing theyʼre sealing are Holy Swords, itʼs not like this kind of situation has never happened.” Lucy changed the topic, ”The Holy Sword had the ability to dispel any negative effect on them from the start after all. Even for a sealing ring created by the forge god using divine steel, while it might be fine for the average Holy Sword, itʼs impossible to fully seal up especially strong Holy Swords. The Holy Sword that I inherited is actually one of these cases.”

At that, Shien also remembered that even after the sealing, Lucyʼs Holy Sword still had a portion of the Holy Swordʼs power exposed to the outside.

Thatʼs probably the state where it wasnʼt fully sealed.

”However, among the Heroes throughout history, it was only my ancestorʼs Holy Sword that was so strong that a sealing ring couldnʼt fully seal it. No other Heroʼs Holy Sword has reached that point.” Lucy spoke meaningfully.

”Yet, your Holy Sword is still showing such a strong light even after itʼs been sealed by a sealing ring. Iʼm very curious as to just how strong it really is.”

As she said that, Lucy didnʼt wait for Shienʼs response before taking out a second sealing ring and putting it into Shienʼs hand.

”Add another one.”

Shien as rather surprised at Lucyʼs words as he took the sealing ring.

”This kind of thing can be stacked?”

And here Shien thought that this was the limit for his Holy Sword.

”Of course it can. Why else did you think the royal family collect so many sealing rings? Did you think that they were just left around for backups, just in case?” Lucy replied and chivied him on, ”Put it on already. The sealing ring will only work if the Hero places it on his own Holy Sword. Otherwise, it wonʼt be able to seal the Holy Swordʼs power.”

It just goes to show just how overpowered a Heroʼs Holy Sword was.

Shien can understand it too.

If he didnʼt do the sealing himself, just that ”Cannot be interfered with” effect could completely cancel out the effect of the sealing ring.

Thus, Shien placed a second sealing ring onto this Holy Sword. That ring also transformed into several pieces and covered up the rest of the Holy Swordʼs blade.

Then…

[Holy Sword (Doubly Sealed)]

Wielder: Shien.Level +50.All skills level +5.All damage resist 50%.All negative status greatly weakened.Sharpness level peak class.Durability level extreme.High damage bonus VS. Evil. Dispelling effect VS. Evil element. Bound to wielder. Cannot be lost. Cannot be transferred. Cannot be destroyed. Cannot be modified. Cannot be interfered with.

”… It seems to still not be completely sealed, huh?”

”Y-yeah…”

Shien and Lucy looked at the 2/3 sealed Holy Sword with hard to describe expressions.

Especially Lucy. Her gaze at Shien was like she was looking at a monster.

It canʼt be helped. Even after two seals, the radiance from that Holy Sword was actually still on par with her own Holy Sword.

Plus, itʼs only after her Holy Sword is unsealed that it could match Shienʼs already doubly sealed Holy Sword.

What did that mean?

It meant that her ancestorʼs Holy Sword, the true inheritance that is the pride of the Mitra royal family, was basically nothing before Shienʼs Holy Sword.

Even after two seals can her own Holy Sword with defeated the Demon King even compare.

This made Lucy truly realized that, perhaps, Shien really is something special.

Previously, although Lucy was surprised at the fact that Shien was actually a Hero, she didnʼt really think that Shien could compare to her.

None of the other Heroes throughout history could compare to her own ancestor either, right?

Plus, her own talent and potential wonʼt lose to her ancestor Mitraʼs. Lucy also felt that even though Shien was a Hero, heʼs at most at the same level as those Heroes who lost to the Demon King, that heʼs not even at the same level as her ancestor Mitra.

Thatʼs a very reasonable deduction.

At the very least, Lucy had never met someone even more capable than herself.

But now, perhaps one had appeared.

Then, Lucy was silent for a bit before handing the last sealing ring to Shien.

”Again.”

It was like Lucy wanted to see just where Shienʼs limits were. Her tone felt like she didnʼt want to admit her loss or that she was just unwilling to call it quits.

”Cough…”

Shien wanted to say something, but didnʼt. He muttered in his mind.

”I really didnʼt mean to shock you though…”

Meanwhile, Shien placed the final sealing ring onto the Holy Sword.

Following the sealing ring once again disassembling into pieces and equipping itself onto the blade, the Holy Sword finally turned completely normal as if having been sheathed.

Only…

[Holy Sword (Triply Sealed)]

Wielder: Shien.Level +10.All skills level +1.All damage resist 10%.All negative status weakened.Bound to wielder. Cannot be lost. Cannot be transferred. Cannot be destroyed. Cannot be modified. Cannot be interfered with.

Looking at the still not fully sealed Holy Sword, Shien fell silent.

Lucy fell silent too.

”… Well, this is fine too.”

Shien spoke as if trying to explain to someone.

”Although it hasnʼt been fully sealed, the fact that itʼs been sealed to this level means that the Holy Sword is already very hard to recognize. I know when to be satisfied with what I have.”

Hn. This result is pretty good. Yes.

Lucy showed an understanding expression.

… Like hell she did!

”Youʼre the one trying to just muddle through now, arenʼt you?”

Lucyʼs look toward Shien had already turned scornful.

That look was just like the look that Shien gave Lucy just a bit ago. Truly, what goes around comes around.

While Shien was feeling uncomfortable, he also started panicking.

It was because Lucyʼs gaze had turned from scornful to one full of fighting spirit.

”W-what do you want?” Shien timidly asked like a scared kid.

”Come on!”

It was Lucy on the other hand who was now filled with presence.

”Letʼs have a spar!”

With those words, Lucy didnʼt give Shien any chance to react and started dragging him out.
