The Conquerors Path

Chapter 924: Chapter 922-A Sweet Helpless Young Man.

”Just this can change your whole standing in the world! this is something huge that will make waves all around!”

My mother, Grace, spoke. I had just finished telling her the longer version of what had happened, ranging from the talk to our connection, to a subtle edge of spoken words that I had helped Eleanor in a powerful way, which all came together to make her feel good about me, which helped me to get her guardianship.

”You didn’t ask, but she gave, right?”

My mother asked, to which I nodded my head, the meaning of her words changing the dynamic of everything as her eyes winced. However, it slowly turned warmer and gentler as she asked.

”Did you aim for that?”

”I hoped for it”

I replied, my words making Grace look at me with even more warmth in her gaze, she raising her hand to slowly pat my head and pinch my cheek with a warm touch as she spoke.

”You wanted more power backing you up, the world is changing and war is at nigh, and you know you are perhaps at the center of it all, as one blessed like this, they will try to take you and use you and before that could happen you need enough backing to protect yourself and our family, right”

Just the nod from me was enough for that truth to be, and that truth itself only making my family feel the intense drive and time I spend to protecting what we have, the words of my mother waking the two of my sisters up to the new reality, they having spent all the time with me and knowing me which lets them to seemingly at times forget the fact that I still lay as the most famous person in the world right now.

My skill, almost the way I was chosen, no doubt making me a hero for the generations to come, and it pained them all that I was given this path and they all fear the day if I would ever have to die as a hero, the whole scenario itself being something that they all hate, they don’t want this, they want me free of it, yet I travel around, moving, getting more power so that one day I won’t become the puppet of the world.

All of them being mad as they are understood it, all of them know of my connection with the DarkNight, the works I do the traveling around, the connections I am making, the more I take the spotlight the more harder it would be for the ones in power to just take me away, they know I mostly move around all the time.

And I have always made it clear after my secret of my ’hero’ thing was out that I need to keep moving around to keep the world safe, and also the fact of wanting to amass more power so that I can protect our family, it was all the truth and they accepted it and I know that in their own ways they are also trying to help me too.

My mother is slowly getting back in the game, burning together her old power, the one that was feared in any battlefield, my sister being born as a queen of war, fighting and working more than ever to increase her powers, strength of power driving her, and even Elda in secret trying to understand her bloodline even more.

Elda herself awakening more powers, more abilities, getting better at healing such that she would always be of help to me, all of them in their own way are working harder than ever hidden from my sight to help me, and I act like I don’t see it for they need things to drive them forward like this, else it will be a hard time catching up with the rest of my girls.

’Sigh.....the things we do for love’

[Bullshit!... I call bullshit!]

’Yeah....yeah....tone it down’

Pushing down the system again, I turned my focus to the real world at hand. As I held onto the hand in my cheeks, I spoke in a low tone.

”It’s nothing, mother, I can feel the changes all around, the more power we will have, the more protected we will be against the coming problems”

My words made my mother’s eyes waver as she held back her pain, spoke.

”Oh....Austin, that shouldn’t be your burden, you are just young, you should be enjoying the fun of youth, you won’t get that back, you know”

I smiled at her words as I replied.

”I will rest when we are all safe and happy”

My words had their intended effect as my mother moved to place a kiss on my forehead, and many powerful emotions filled in it as she spoke.

”I know.....I know”

I detected the weakness in her voice, and I know she will try better to make everything better, and I let her be at it as Nora suddenly asked.

”When is the ceremony and announcement meant to take place?”

To her words, I replied.

”Not sure, there is a lot of planning going into all this, I replied to the queen, that I will let her know more of my free time”

My mother nodded her head at those words as she replied.

”That’s good, it’s best not to jump into it, we need to use that at the right time, guess we will all be there, won’t we?”

She said with a light smile to me.

”Of course, it will be a whole family affair”

My reply made my mother smile as she chuckled a bit as Elda jumped in.

”So what do we do about the bitch?”

I flinched at the way the very cute Elda said it, but that definitely brought our focus back to the real issue at hand, to which I leaned back to the sofa and let my free thoughts out.

”For all the trouble she is indeed causing me, I can’t all disagree with the fact that she will be a very good shield for me, having a half dragon lover? Who would dare move against our family and me?”

The question hung in the air like a very dirty laundry, my family dearly not liking it at all and in a normal situation wouldn’t even think of even thinking about it, but now the situation has happened and they need to move forward, and this all needs to happen too, so it began.

”Even with a lover thing, dragons always have a limit to what they can do due to the treaty hanging in the sky”

Grace spoke.

”I know, but even then, with just that, the most powerful of figures will hesitate to make a move, sure the treaty exists and all, but in the end, when a dragon is enraged, who will flip around some ancient contract in its face and hope it calms down?”

My words being the truth and I could see all the ugly jealousy, hate and situation happening all around me, Nora wanting to rip off her face for even imagining me with someone else, her wanting to shout at me, and for now I am not going into Elda, cause her thoughts are becoming darker than a torture demon.

’Uff.....the nicest ones are indeed the most dangerous’

[She’s gone, man.... she’s gone..... she’s in the deep end]

Somehow I couldn’t deny that, and for my mother, the jealousy was very deep, pretty sure she is thinking of just burning down the whole dragon race, but she is also the most mature of the one here so she has to see the positive of Scarlet as my girlfriend even though it’s killing her on the inside.

The fine fact is, they were indeed angry at me for even considering this but after all the talk we had, the sacrifice they know I am giving and knowing the fact that I am not interested in Scarlet and is just being forced makes it such that their whole anger is being pushed towards Scarlet, normally even in any cause I would take at least a little bit of heat from the girls, cause in the end, women are not always completely rational.

’But can they be such irrational to the one hero who has suffered a lot from a young age to make the world better?’

In retrospect if I didn’t go around saving people, this could have happened but then they will be pitting on all the efforts I did to make everything better, at my suffering and hurting me, so no matter how much they see it as a betrayal, the knowledge of the pain I have gone through and hardships keep this crazy idea at bay.

To them...

Do I enjoy this? No.

[Yes, you do]

Do I hate the situation? Yes.

[No, you don’t]

Am I a helpless young hero trying to survive? Yes.

[Fuck that!....you have a goddess mommy backing you up who you suck all the time!]

’Cough.....cough.....useless details, I say’
