Super Gene Hunting Ground

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Gasoline Bomb

Xiao Zhe and his team had distributed the Crystal Coins they earned from killing the mutated ants during the day among the combatants, and most of them had used these Crystal Coins to purchase black long swords similar to the one Yang Xiao wielded. Xu Hua, who received four Crystal Coins, had only one left.

Yang Xiao glanced at Xiao Zhe and asked,

”Do you have any Crystal Coins left in your team? Pool them together, and let’s get Xu Hua a set of armor.”

Xiao Zhe quickly asked his brothers, but in the end, they had only gathered five Crystal Coins.

”Only five, that’s not enough.”

”I can lend you five more, but you’ll have to pay me back after the mission is complete.”

”Okay, no problem. As long as we can successfully burn the wasps to death, I promise to return the five Crystal Coins. Xu Hua, if the mission is complete, consider this armor a gift.”

Hearing this, Xu Hua felt somewhat more willing at heart.

So, everyone discussed the details again, then went back to rest before moving out before dawn.

Around 6 a.m., when the sky was a dusky grey, Yang Xiao, Xiao Zhe, and the rest of the group gathered again.

Ten boys arrived at the pre-selected area with oil drums and quickly poured the gasoline from these drums onto the plastic track on the field.

Since the track was lined with plastic, the gasoline wouldn’t seep into the dirt.

After pouring seven oil drums, they placed three half-filled oil drums in a triangle formation, about 20 meters apart from each other, on the track filled with gasoline to act as gasoline bombs.

Yang Xiao, Xiao Zhe, and Dai Yun were the arsonists, each positioned in three different locations, to ensure that once the wasps flew in, they could ignite the fire from three sides simultaneously and trap the wasps instantly in a sea of fire.

With everything ready, Xu Hua, clad in armor, activated his Copper Skin and, wielding a black long sword, ran into the center of the field.

After running more than a hundred meters, Xu Hua indeed saw a dark mass of wasps covering the ground. Without hesitation, he clenched his teeth and charged into the swarm with his long sword swinging.

The buzzing wasps were startled and all took flight immediately.

Xu Hua felt as if he’d bumped into a dozen or so wasps.

His goal was merely to lure the wasps; as he sprinted at full force and flashed by, waving his sword, he managed to kill a few wasps.

The swarm of wasps went into total madness, immediately pursuing Xu Hua rabidly, flying at a height of just 2 or 3 meters above the ground.

Xu Hua had only heard about disturbing a wasp’s nest before and had no idea what that entailed. Now he finally understood – dozens of meters behind him, a bunch of wasps buzzed angrily, chasing him down fiercely.

These were mutated wasps, each the size of a sparrow.

Xu Hua dared not slacken his pace and ran as if he were insane, soon about to enter the track wet with gasoline.

Yang Xiao was the first arsonist; he lay hidden in the grass, camouflaged with a green military uniform, and even his hair was messily blended with some green grass for disguise, about ten meters away from the track soaked with gasoline.

Xiao Zhe and Dai Yun were also disguised the same way, but each had different ambush spots.

Yang Xiao held a lighter in his hand and a piece of cloth soaked in gasoline in his left hand. To ensure the ignited rag could be swiftly thrown onto the track, there was a stone wrapped inside the rag.

Seeing Xu Hua rushing forward, Yang Xiao was still very nervous, his body trembling slightly.

Snap!

Xu Hua stepped onto the gasoline-drenched track, splashing some of the gasoline, and surged forward like a gust of wind.

In just an instant, a dark mass of wasps buzzed over and flew into the gasoline track.

Yang Xiao lit the rag, flung it with his hand, and the burning cloth, carrying the flames, fell onto the track.

With a roar, the flames from the gasoline shot up 4 to 5 meters high.

Yang Xiao didn’t wait to see the effect; he quickly stood up and ran dozens of meters before once again lying down on the sports field.

At the same time, Xiao Zhe and Dai Yun also set fire to the gasoline on the track, transformed into Werewolves, and quickly ran away dozens of meters, lying down on the ground.

From a distance, Huang Wen and the others watched the blazing fire rise into the sky, illuminating the dawn.

The swarm of wasps entered the track and was suddenly attacked by the rising flames.

Hiss-hiss-hiss...

The sound of burning crackled sharply.

These mutated wasps were ferocious, but the moment they were enveloped by the raging fire, their wings were the first to catch fire. Once their wings were burned, they could not fly up to escape, and one by one, they fell into the blaze.

A few lucky mutated wasps evaded the initial wave of attack and were about to spread their wings to escape the encircling flames when suddenly, three loud explosions sounded.

”Boom, boom, boom!”

Three gas tanks exploded, and the resulting huge flames, along with the powerful shockwave, directly knocked these lucky wasps down to burn.

Lying a few dozen meters away from the fiery track, Yang Xiao felt a slight tremble beneath him on the sports field.

The loud explosion woke everyone from their sleep, and they rushed out to see the fire soaring into the sky over the sports field, not knowing what happened, panic-stricken.

The fire burned for a half hour before gradually extinguishing. Huang Wen and the others watched clearly as nearly all the wasps were annihilated. Although a dozen or so were lucky to escape, they no longer posed a threat to anyone.

Xu Hua ran breathlessly into the protection circle within 50 meters of the Genetic Store, and only then did he stop, gasping for air.

When he looked back at the blazing fire behind him, he felt a lingering fear inside; if Yang Xiao and the others had misjudged the timing, or if he had accidentally fallen into it, he probably would have turned into a roast pig by now.

Yang Xiao, Xiao Zhe, and Dai Yun had already stood up.

Following the prior agreement, Huang Wen led four girls and Xiao Zhe’s team with five girls, a total of ten, to form a straight line and search the ground for wasp Genetic Fragments in a sweeping manner.

The members of Xiao Zhe’s team who came out were Qin Yu, Deng Xiao, and others.

The ground was scattered with charred wasp carcasses. Yang Xiao casually picked up a wasp carcass and sniffed it, smelling gasoline.

He peeled open the wasp’s shell to reveal the roasted meat inside, still steaming.

He took a small bite—it was crispy and delicious, with a slight hint of honey.

”Xiao Zhe, do you want these wasp carcasses?”

Xiao Zhe hesitated,

”It reeks of gasoline, can you even eat it?”

”Hehe, you must have plenty of food, huh? We’re short on food, we can’t compare with you.”

As he spoke, Yang Xiao picked up a charred wasp carcass and handed it to Xiao Zhe. Xiao Zhe took it, smelled the gasoline, and showed a look of disgust. Just then, Xu Hua came by, so he handed the burnt wasp carcass to Xu Hua.

”Xu Hua, do you want to eat this?”

Xu Hua sniffed it, the pungent smell of gasoline hit him, and he immediately shook his head.

”Now that the wasps no longer trouble us, we can go out and avoid killing Mutated Creatures; it should be no problem to eat something clean. Leave this stuff for Yang Xiao and the rest.”

Xu Hua deliberately put on an act of generosity.
