Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 689: One Direction

”Maze Runner?” Flora and Iris exchanged looks. Iris raised her hand, asking, ”Does that mean youʼre planning to create a labyrinth inside the slum? But itʼs impossible to do it.”

Flora looked down, contemplating. ”I see. Youʼre planning to use my earth spirit to create a wall, turning the slum into a labyrinth that they know nothing about. Then you probably want me to set up more traps to eliminate a lot of people, right?”

”Yes.” Nathan nodded.

”Still, itʼs impossible, Nathan. I canʼt handle all that construction by myself. Even the trap is limited.”

”No. Iʼm not going to ask you to turn the entire slum into a maze. I just want you to focus in a certain direction.” Nathan smirked.

”!!!” Iris seemed to have seen through Nathanʼs plan. ”As expected of my lord, youʼre planning to hit them from one direction, correct?”

”Do you understand it?”

”Yes. By hitting them in one direction, even if those people order them to spread out, they will definitely not go in your direction. However, this will only stop one direction. We still have to block two more sides…”

”Nope. Thereʼs no need to block them. It will require too many resources. Instead, we will create a funnel.”

”Ah!” Iris nodded furiously. ”If we place one or two walls in certain places, especially at the junction, we can force them to turn in the direction we want them to. And we will gradually lead them toward a single place.

”They will feel like they have done a great job, but little do they realize they have gone toward the same destination at the very end. Itʼs no wonder the mission is called the Maze Runner.”

Nathan smiled and patted Irisʼ head. ”You are pretty smart, arenʼt you? Well, I donʼt think I need to tell you what youʼre supposed to do next.”

”Yes. I will take another look at the map and choose the spot to build a wall.” Iris smiled, feeling proud of herself.

”Good.” Nathan turned to Flora. ”Do you understand it?”

”Somewhat.” Flora nodded. ”In that case, I will go around with Iris.”

”Yeah.” Nathan took out a pouch and handed it to Iris. ”By the way, tell your brother Aris to take the children to the inn. Use the money here just for tonight. Make sure they clean up everything since weʼll be heading out tomorrow.

”However, donʼt forget about the last mission.” Nathan winked playfully.

Iris nodded furiously. ”Yes. I will make sure to empty out everything they have.”

”Great.”

Once Flora and Iris walked away, Nathanʼs expression turned solemn.

”How is the situation around?” Nathan asked.

”It should be pretty stable right now.”

”Well, thereʼs something Iʼd like to discuss with them, especially Nidhogg. Can you call them for me?”

”Sure.” Anubis leaped away, leaving him alone.

While Anubis left, Nathan couldnʼt help but lift his hand, forming a small sphere with his ena. It was perfectly similar to what Alan had, but unlike him, he didnʼt have that much control over its form.

If it was Selena, she could probably replicate it immediately. Unfortunately, Nathan was just an ordinary person compared to those geniuses.

Still, it didnʼt mean Nathan couldnʼt do anything. His weapon was the knowledge and inspiration coming from all the stories he had read.

And using this new inspiration and combining it with all the existing ideas, Nathan finally found a way to beat Alan.

The only problem was how to deal with his familiars along with the rest of the summoners. Even Flora would have a hard time fighting against the other grandmaster.

”I guess I have to be a bit ruthless to my enemies…” Nathan muttered.

…

On the west side of the city, there was a pigeon soaring into the sky, heading to the west as though nothing happened.

But all of a sudden, a huge dragon took off into the sky and caught up to this pigeon.

”Look at this… Theyʼre really sending information by birds. How cute.”

The pigeon turned pale, albeit there was nothing it could do as Nidhogg swallowed him whole.

”It doesnʼt really taste good.” Nidhogg clicked his tongue before spitting out the small letter. It was so small that it looked like an ant on a humanʼs hand. ”Anyway, my job is done here. All I need to do is stay back and relax until the next job.”

That was what he was supposed to do, but Anubis was actually waiting for him on top of a roof, staring at him with a serious expression.

”Whatʼs wrong?” Nidhogg asked.

”Your body is so big that the people around the town must have seen you,” said Anubis casually.

”Are you picking a fight here? Besides, who cares about them?”

Anubis shook his head. ”Well, Iʼm here to pass our summonerʼs message. If you donʼt have anything to do left, go back. Thereʼs something heʼd like to discuss with the rest of us, especially you.”

”!!!” Nidhogg raised his eyebrows. ”Donʼt tell me. Itʼs about that?”

”Probably.” Anubis nodded. ”Anyway, you should head there and stay on the roof while looking out for another messenger. Iʼm going to fetch the dog.”

”Alright. I will drop you off along the way.” Nidhogg nodded and took off immediately while Anubis wrapped his bandage around his leg before getting carried into the sky. Since he might be getting some ena, he was happy enough to not care about doing any extra work.

Besides, if Nathan were to pour him some ena, it should be to reach the next stage.

Anubis couldnʼt care less about Nidhoggʼs thoughts. He simply loosened the bandage as soon as he saw Fenrir and landed smoothly on top of the roof.

”Oi. Iʼve got a message for you. If you donʼt have anything to do, you should go to him. He is probably going to become a bit crazy with his plan, so…”

”!!!” Fenrirʼs eyebrows twitched. ”Donʼt tell me. Is he going to kill himself again?”

”Who knows? Iʼm going to tell that black bird anyway.” Anubis shrugged.

”Anyway, Iʼll be here for a bit longer. If you end up arriving first, tell him that no suspicious person is spotted yet.”

Anubis nodded before leaping from one roof after another.
