Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 670: Loyalty

Iris suddenly opened her mouth. ”Our mother helped us escape from this place. We thought we could get some help from our allies, but the moment we realized the kingdom was trying to kill the successors to hide their embarrassment, we ran away.

”We kept running until we finally reached this place. We couldnʼt afford to have our identities exposed. And when we were at our lowest point, the children here were the ones taking us in and helping us.

”I wish to repay their kindness. If you wish to eliminate us, please limit it to just our lives. Donʼt harm other children outside.”

Flora smiled inwardly. Although talent was important, the compassion she showed was truly extraordinary, especially considering her age and experience.

Flora turned to Nathan first, determined to get this kid.

When Nathan let out a sigh, as if he gave her the authority to make a decision, Flora immediately said, ”In that case, I will give you a new agreement. Do you wish for the kids to receive better care?”

”What?” Iris couldnʼt believe what she heard.

”If you are able to accomplish your task this time, weʼll take you in. You know the cloud-repelling device, right?”

”Yes.” Iris nodded. ”Itʼs the device that allows us to dispel the cloud above us for farming. That device is the reason we still can eat.”

”He is one of the creators of that device.”

”!!!” Iris and Aris shuddered.

Flora raised a finger. ”Weʼre currently trying to destroy the Crimson Skeleton. Iʼm sure you know them.”

”Yes. Theyʼre the biggest thug in this city.”

”We need these children to lure them for us. In the end, they have a lot of people and weʼd like to reduce their numbers first. If you manage to do this, weʼll officially take you in. Of course, that also means the rest of the kids.

”In our city, the situation is much better. Besides, you have the potential to become a summoner.

”If you choose to accept this mission, you will be a part of the household as a future summoner. Once you become a full-fledged summoner, you will be able to repay the children here however you like. In the meantime, weʼll be the ones taking care of them for you.

”Because you have been on the run for the last few years, you probably donʼt know him, but he is the first and only summoner who is able to call for beasts instead of humanoid familiars in this world.

”Even if you donʼt know him, you must recognize my name. I am Flora Vietta Azilia. This is my man, Nathan.”

”!!!” Aris and Iris were dumbstruck. They hurriedly lowered their heads again. ”Your Highness…”

”Iʼve told you about our purpose. This mission is dangerous. While weʼre trying to ensure the safety of the children, we donʼt know how the battle turns out. In the end, there are only the two of us here. So, what will you do?”

Nathan added, ”Well, if there are passages around the area, it might be even safer. I can adjust my plan. Besides, knowing more about the enemies will allow us to figure out how they will react.”

”!!!” Iris looked at Aris. When they were about to die, these children were the ones taking care of them. That was why they did their best to repay them and eventually led them.

If they really wanted to take them in, this was indeed a big opportunity. The children here might be able to get better living conditions, and they didnʼt need to steal again.

Of course, Iris didnʼt expect that she would have the potential to become a summoner. After all, no one had realized her potential this whole time.

If she truly became a full-fledged summoner, she could easily take care of them.

”Can I really… become a summoner?”

”There is a trace of ena coming out of your body. However, itʼs just a faint trace. You have the chance to become a summoner, but I canʼt yet see your potential as that trace of ena hasnʼt fully matured.” Flora nodded.

Although it was great to have the potential to become a summoner, people prioritize those who have matured because they could judge someoneʼs potential from their ena.

There was a still chance that when her potential matured, the amount of ena was lower than others.

So, taking someone like her was a kind of gamble.

However, the other party was a princess. Although it looked like Nathan was a commoner, his achievement was extraordinary.

”Are you sure about taking us in? The Liaystian Kingdom might come for us.”

”It doesnʼt really matter. They canʼt really do anything to this guy. At the same time, you might want to abandon your family name completely. With the current worldʼs situation, I doubt the Liaystian Kingdom has the energy to spare to look for you.”

Aris nodded his head, having made his decision.

Iris gulped down and took another minute to consider everything. Ultimately, she lowered her head again. ”I, Iris, and my brother, Aris, pledge our loyalty to—!”

Before Iris continued, Flora hurriedly stopped her, not because she didnʼt want her loyalty, but because she had to make sure she wasnʼt the one who had their loyalty. ”Nathan. Not me. He is the head of the household. His status is higher than mine in the household, so pledge your loyalty to him, not me.”

”!!!” Iris was confused, but because it was a request, she immediately changed her words. ”—My lord, Nathan. Weʼll be your shield and use our power for the glory of the house.”

Flora whispered, ʼA noble oath is not something you receive often. Itʼs extremely rare for the oath to be broken. This is the same situation as Duke Coline. Why donʼt you use this to heal them as proof of their loyalty?ʼ

Nathan nodded. He summoned Anubis and whispered to him.

Anubis immediately activated his ankh.

”Big sister…” Aris gasped, seeing all the wounds, including the scar on her face, disappear as if they had never existed.

Iris was shocked as she touched all the wounds in disbelief.

”I accept your loyalty. You and the rest of the children here have been healed. It appears a few of them have some injuries, external or internal.” Nathan nodded. ”As your first mission, tell us everything you know about the Crimson Skeleton.”

Iris and Aris smiled and hurriedly placed their heads again on the floor. ”Y-Yes, my lord.”
