Chapter 661: There was a teleportation portal?

”Talking about dungeons... isn’t this dungeon deep underground? The only way in is either going through a massive underground cave structure or by directly teleporting with the help of the Silver Shadow Guild’s teleportation portal...”

”How did you get inside so fast?”

Hearing James’s question, Rio looked at him with the usual expressionless look on his face, tilted his head slightly in confusion, and asked back.

”There was a teleportation portal?”

At Rio’s question, James was taken aback and he joked,

”Wha... haha, you are funny. Haha, how else would you have gotten inside if not for these two methods...”

”haha, it couldn’t be that you drilled straight from the surface to hundreds of kilometers deep in a matter of a few seconds, right? Haha, as if that’s possible... ha... ha...”

”You... couldn’t have... drilled... right?”

Seeing the unchanging look on Rio’s face, James’s laugh disappeared slowly as he realized Rio was actually the type of person who might have really done something that insane.

”I thought that finding the proper way inside would take too much time... so yeah... I kind of just drilled my way through the ground straight towards the dungeon...”

Hearing Rio’s answer, James felt like his worldview had shattered.

Although S-rankers were strong people, drilling hundreds of kilometers deep in just a matter of mere seconds was no small feat.

”That’s insane... I can break apart mountains with my attacks but this... you are really something...”

James’s eyes lit up as he remembered something in that moment.

”Oh, I almost forgot that you also have earth manipulation too; yeah, that would have come in handy...”

What James didn’t know was that Rio not only just used earth manipulation,

He also used wind elementals to spin himself like a drill, used his sword as the tip, and then blasted. Then he used gravity and space to give himself more pressure and weight!

He even used water to soften the ground and used miasma to break apart hard and solid ores that were too powerful for other elementals to shatter.

His overwhelming power was not too far from an SS-ranker now, so he was obviously able to achieve these insane feats without much effort anymore.

Just when James was dumbfounded and doubting his life, Kai narrowed his eyes and asked,

”Now that you mention it, did you just say that you had gone to the spirit realm for a mission!?”

”Are you sure you are talking about the same spirit realm that everyone considers a literal hellhole!? It’s filled with miasma to the brim!”

”Why would any sane person go there!? No wait... you aren’t actually sane... so you might go there...”

Hearing Kai’s words, Rio flicked his finger and hit the fellow to punish him for badmouthing him.

”That hurts! You almost blew my head off!!”

Ignoring Kai’s protests, Rio returned ’RJ’ to little Bela to play as he spoke.

”Yes, the spirit realm is I went to is indeed filled with miasma, but I had to go there because of very important reason...”

”If I start talking about this matter now, it will take too long so let’s keep it short; you just need to know that I managed to succeed in this mission and stayed inside that corrupted place for nearly six months...”

”I almost ended up dying there because a creep started pestering me like crazy... but somehow I managed to survive...”

Hearing Rio’s words, a look of disbelief appeared on Kai’s face as he said,

”You... you are really insane... I am kind of tempted to ask you to be my master now...”

At Kai’s words, Rio shook his head.

”You might want to make me your master, but I won’t accept that. Not only do I have no need of anyone’s assistance, you are more suited to lend your strength to someone who has more mastery over spirit magic...”

”I don’t delve in spirit arts much and am not really interested in it either...”

”My ’Path’ will not suit you, Divine Spirit General Kawaki...”

Kai sighed and nodded his head.

”Well, not like I was going to abandon Lia after I promised to make her the next Spirit King...”

”She’s been working very hard to catch up to you; these injuries, all this hardship... she’s decided to endure it all so that she can stand beside you...”

”But you... you are not the type to stop and wait for others to catch up to you, right? You will keep pushing the limits...”

After settling down Bela, Nova, and the others, Rio sat down beside Lia and placed his hand on her forehead.

”I don’t want her to push herself like this either; I just want her to be happy, but I also can’t stop her from pursuing her own ambitions and goals...”

”And yes... I can’t stop for her either... I must get stronger, after all... Other’s may have the choice to stay weak; I don’t...”

Rio knew what threats were lurking in the not-so-distant future; the signs of those threats slowly approaching were already starting to appear.

Rio clearly knew that he lacked time and he had to get stronger as fast as possible; time does not wait for anyone after all, if he doesn’t reach a level of strength that can guarantee his and his loved ones’ safety.

Then everything else will be futile.

”You are really difficult to understand...”

Kai shook his head and stopped asking questions, as he knew that Rio wouldn’t give any straightforward answers.

Everyone has secrets; it’s better not to pry too much into them if the other party clearly does not want you to.

Ignoring Kai, Rio looked far into the horizon as new thoughts and plans brewed in his mind.

’Originally I wanted to go to that place after reaching rank SS, but it seems due to my interference the timeline of the world has been accelerated a bit...’

’Dungeons are already starting to evolve at a rapid rate and threats are increasing... I have no other choice but to get ’that’ artifact before things go wrong...’

’Once I am done with the reporting and other stuff, I will go on a new stealing session to get that artifact!’
