One-Eyed Monster

Igor just couldn’t understand why things turned out this way.

When the palace was under Kuyi Tulan’s control, Xiso didn’t seem this agitated. Back then, Xiso was willing to exhaust his newly recovered energy to save the Empire. But why is it that now the palace is back to normal, Xiso has become defiant?

What a complicated bunch of people, why do they always appear inconsistent?

Igor felt like his mind was a muddle, unable to grasp what was truly going on.

All he hears now are arguments.

Xiso was the one arguing with everyone else. Whether it was the secretary or the Kangen Family Chief, they were dissatisfied with Xiso’s attitude, feeling he was too casual and disrespectful toward the king.

Xiso believed he was justified, thinking that when someone makes a mistake, they should admit it and correct it, not remain silent like this. He was discontent with the king, feeling that the king had done nothing to rectify past errors after being rescued.

These errors, which Igor was unclear about, he couldn’t comprehend from the arguments.

”Xiso, you shouldn’t keep bringing up the past, you know those are Kuyi Tulan’s tricks.”

”Yes, Xiso, you can’t place the blame for Kuyi Tulan’s errors entirely on His Majesty, that’s incredibly unfair!”

”His Majesty feels guilty about his previous decisions too, haven’t you noticed he hasn’t said a word until now!”

The secretary and Kangen Family Chief continuously defended King Harry Kayne, and Igor, unable to glean information, waited expectantly for Xiso’s response.

”You’re all speaking for His Majesty, but who will speak for the Glory Seven Knights? You don’t care at all about their fate!” Xiso found the others’ rebuttals unimpressive.

Igor finally caught on a bit—it was about the Glory Seven Knights.

Concerning the Glory Seven Knights, Igor had heard many stories; these individuals were legends of the Empire. From the tales, Igor perceived them as still in their prime, but in reality, he hadn’t even glimpsed their shadows.

Later, he arrived at Guru Mountain and finally met one of the Glory Seven Knights—Dastan.

Yet, he hadn’t expected that the Glory Seven Knights were removed by His Majesty, with the reason still unknown. Xiso seemed determined not to let go of this issue.

They were removed, leaving no trace behind, those who once bled for the Empire have now been completely forgotten.

”Your orders are simple, just spoken, but you will never know how much harm your orders have caused everyone!” Xiso exclaimed passionately, stirring some emotion in the previously disagreeing secretary and chief.

Such a situation would be hard for anyone to bear, as the feeling of being forgotten is something nobody wants to accept!

”Don’t forget, they once bled for this Empire, devoted themselves to this Empire, never asked for anything, just such devotion, and in the end, you removed their names!”

This matter would be unbearable for anyone. Igor thought.

Everyone was rendered silent by Xiso’s words.

Indeed, what His Majesty did was somewhat disappointing.

These Glory Seven Knights were warriors who bled for the country. Perhaps they wouldn’t care if the nation rewarded them, but they definitely wouldn’t harm the nation.

Back then, the Glory Seven Knights assisted the Great Mentor in rescuing the prisoners of the Alchemy Workshop, which struck a nerve with Kuyi Tulan. For this reason, Kuyi Tulan had King Kayne directly abolish the title of the Glory Seven Knights.

Kuyi Tulan’s methods were ruthless; he knew what these people valued most. Since they disrupted his Purification Plan, he intended to make them lose what they cherished most.

Harry Kayne still remembered those events. At the time, to balance the situation, he chose to adopt Kuyi Tulan’s suggestion but simultaneously abolished Kuyi Tulan’s Purification Plan. All of this was part of the overall picture for him, he couldn’t favor any side. He was thinking of the whole Empire’s stability, choosing such a radical method. Though it made the warriors who bled for the cause feel heartbroken, it added leverage to abolish Kuyi Tulan’s mad plans.

More crucially, King Harry Kayne believed those who bled for the Empire could understand his dilemma.

As a king, he must consider his Empire; he couldn’t let Kuyi Tulan cause chaos due to personal favoritism. Had the Glory Seven Knights not been sacrificed, Kuyi Tulan wouldn’t have ceased quickly. At that time, Harry Kayne felt he couldn’t suppress Kuyi Tulan.

He was always wary of Kuyi Tulan, yet who could have known that Kuyi Tulan would occupy the palace so swiftly…

This root of disaster was planted by himself, Harry Kayne couldn’t justify it, so he never refutes or rages against any of Xiso’s words…

If he hadn’t been so eager to achieve success, perhaps he wouldn’t have allowed Kuyi Tulan…

If he had listened to the elders, things wouldn’t be so bad.

But all of that is hypothetical, it cannot change the present situation. As a king, he knows he was overly decisive.

Xiso was right; he was blinded by power, wanting to take shortcuts. In hindsight, everything was an immature manifestation.

It seemed he had forgotten some things, forgotten the exploration he was familiar with.

He let Xiso rage on; this was his deserved punishment, thinking he should be punished, but no one had said it before.

He is the king, the ruler of the Empire, who can punish him?

Even now, Xiso is boisterous, yet he’s not saying anything harsh.

”I know, it’s all my fault.” Harry Kayne felt that continuing would only cause more chaos, better to face the issue himself.

”Your Majesty!”

”Your Majesty...”

Everyone was extremely shocked; how could a king admit mistakes so easily?

Already chaotic, Igor’s head began to ache too.

”Tell me, what should I do, what can I do to make up for the mistakes I’ve made?” Harry Kayne spread his hands, evidently not knowing what to do to calm Xiso’s anger.

”You are the ruler, the ruler shouldn’t ask us what to do.” Xiso calmed down and said quietly.
