One-Eyed Monster

Igor looked bewildered, what was going on here? How did this become their negotiated result? He was completely excluded—how could this be called negotiation! He looked at these people blankly, feeling like he had been conned. This suddenly dumped responsibility on him left him feeling a bit at a loss.

”You guys… what is this all about!” Igor scratched his head, ”What’s the meaning of this? Why do I understand absolutely nothing!”

”Didn’t you just say it yourself, you said no one should replace you, so you joining in would give you peace of mind.” Kevin shrugged indifferently and smiled at Igor, the horns on his head trembling with his laugh.

”But...”

”No ’but’! This way, we’re at ease too. We trust you, after all, you’ve met the Resistors and know them well, so it’s been decided.” Tobin Sol directly quashed Igor’s concerns, not even giving him time to speak.

”Igor, they trust you so much, we’ll also assist you. Here on Guru Mountain I also feel we have an advantage.” Kevin continued, now he was like the spokesperson for Guru Mountain, as if everything was up to him.

Igor originally wanted to argue a bit, but momentarily he was at a loss for words. He felt that everyone really trusted him.

”This is fine, Igor, just agree to it.” Kadi started to fan the flames on the side. Naturally, Kadi hoped Igor would happily take on this issue, so he could follow along and learn more. Those are the Resistors, a truly determined group of people, even facing powerful forces they won’t back down, they are warriors.

Seeing Kadi’s expectant look, Igor felt an added sense of responsibility…

But his indecision still prevented him from making a decision. He kept scratching his head, not knowing what choice to make. Igor originally found decision-making challenging, but this had only magnified it slightly.

”Don’t hesitate, Igor, go for it. I wouldn’t put you in a disadvantageous position.” The Great Mentor Guzan spoke.

Tobin Sol and the others naturally understood, the Great Mentor really assisted them greatly.

Originally, he was worried about this matter, because not knowing their background meant they absolutely couldn’t let those people into Luona Capital. They were cautious enough not to take risks when they couldn’t determine the truth. However, if they couldn’t come to Luona, then where would they meet, and given the current situation, it was very difficult for the Sol Brothers and Thunder Army to leave Luona Capital. If the other party came with hostility, detaching from the Thunder Army the Sol Brothers would have trouble dealing with them, which was a big issue.

For the Great Mentor to offer help was truly good, especially with Igor present, there was nothing to worry about.

Igor scratched his head, now he was confusedly on board, not knowing exactly how to row, but he was already on the boat, and the oar had been handed to him.

”Come on, Igor, don’t look so downcast, isn’t this a good thing for you? Don’t you want to meet the Resistors?” Stan Sol hurriedly comforted Igor.

”It’s not that I don’t want to meet them, it’s just a bit odd, I feel like I’ve been sold out by you guys.”

”Why would you think that, we wouldn’t put the matter onto ourselves.” Kevin patted Igor’s shoulder.

Igor understood that being cautious around those claiming to be Resistors was a good idea, and the folks from Guru Mountain were risking themselves by accompanying him. Normally cautious people wouldn’t do this, people often try to avoid risk, who would deliberately take it upon themselves!

”I know, the mentors mean well, but it just feels odd, like I wasn’t involved, they already arranged everything.”

”Oh, haha.” Kevin laughed, a genuine, bright laugh.

”Igor, many things are beyond our control, not everything can go according to our wishes, sometimes we’re destined to encounter some hurdles in life, just like surprises in life.” The Great Mentor comforted Igor, making it clear that Igor hadn’t reached a point where he could disregard everything.

”The Great Mentor is right, many things aren’t under our control, a statement can provoke a lot of covetousness, now Guru Mountain has almost become a must-visit for all organizations, large organizations are still watching, they want a share too. They’re temporarily not moving on Guru Mountain because they’re focused on the remains left between the Alchemy Workshop and Dark Cabinet.” The Sol Brothers began to analyze the current situation for Igor, it was clear Igor hadn’t been informed of many details earlier, and Perkins couldn’t tell him everything either.

”I heard from Perkins that many small organizations want to come to Guru Mountain to treasure-hunt again, but they’re really stupid. No one came for treasure hunts before, what can they possibly find now?” That’s Igor’s line of thought, failing to see the core issues, he could easily argue about surface matters.

”Now there’s action everywhere the wind blows, even the Mantai Empire is eager to move. Several times the Roaring Tiger Army has been in confrontation with Mantai’s army at the borders, though both sides are wary, no conflicts have broken out, clearly the Mantai People want to check out Guru Mountain.”

”Has it really come to this already?” Igor was shocked, the hidden power in Guru Mountain actually drew such attention?

”This is just the initial stage, if I tell you some details, you might be hopping mad!” Stan Sol said, his tone carried some indignation, he seemed quite upset about what he was about to say.

”Go ahead, I’m listening.”

”Anyone related to Guru Mountain faced forced interrogation by various organizations, even the families and friends of the Treasure Hunters suffered, these organizations can be ruthless. If we hadn’t set up defenses in advance, these organizations could’ve infiltrated here and captured the mountain folk of Guru Mountain.”

”Damn, these bastards, they don’t even spare innocent people, I’ll beat up anyone I see.” Kevin clenched his fist, making cracking sounds.

”You of all people should know this well, Kevin, you’ve been through such moments.” The Great Mentor was somewhat surprised at Kevin’s reaction.

”Even so, I’m infuriated, taking innocent people as hostages is such a despicable move!”
