One-Eyed Monster

The brief exchange left Igor with many questions, as he is a person who always seeks answers when in doubt.

Initially, Sol said that these matters were long stories, but somehow they just came out in conversation, and afterward, he felt a sense of relief, as if his mission had suddenly been lifted from him. It was as though he was destined to meet this Igor.

Now he somewhat understood why Igor came to this Border Realm, why his arrival here agitated so many creatures, and why the Soul Devourer Master would go to such lengths...

It was all because Igor had been to that Teleportation Portal and had encountered that blue monster...

”Hey! Stop floating there grinning like a fool; you still haven’t answered my question.”

Igor rudely interrupted Sol’s reverie, as in Igor’s eyes, only issues he deemed worth caring about mattered.

”Hmm?” Sol clearly hadn’t taken Igor’s words to heart.

The Mos Brothers and Shana shrugged at each other. They stayed in a combat-ready state, as their leader had instructed them to prepare for battle. Regarding Igor’s doubts, they could offer no assistance.

At this moment, the skeletal knight, who had been complaining about Igor all along, finally spoke. He just thought Igor was incredibly foolish, agonizing over such a simple question. There was nothing special at all; he couldn’t understand why his master was so fixated on this silly boy.

The skeletal knight said, ”You’ll return to the original place. That Teleportation was a monster, not a Soul Devourer!”

Igor glanced at the skeletal knight, ”If you’re not a monster, then there’s no monster in this world.”

”You speak as if you’re quite familiar with monsters.”

”How do you know I’m not familiar with monsters?”

The two of them started bickering like that.

Unknowingly, a long time had passed in this Barrier, yet it hadn’t reached its time limit. Sol and the resistors remained vigilant, while Igor appeared carefree. He couldn’t comprehend where the danger Sol mentioned was coming from, so at this moment, he continued bantering with the skeletal knight.

”Leader, what should we do with this guy?” The Mos Brothers found the skeletal knight annoying, constantly yammering on without end. Even though he kept saying Igor had nothing to do with them, his emotionless tone was as monotonous as a chant, making it incredibly irritating. At this moment, the Mos Brothers didn’t want to be distracted by this mix-up, so they straightforwardly asked Sol what to do with the skeletal knight.

”Do nothing,” Sol replied, floating in midair, ”He has my Thunderbolt Lock on him, along with the Spirit Binding Net. He can’t release energy, and no one can undo the Thunderbolt Lock. He’ll just stay here watching and listening, lost in his own dream.”

Sol’s words left the skeletal knight resigned. Originally, he had become like this, unable to be devoured by anyone nor return to the world where his body existed. To exist here eternally, observing the comings and goings, experiencing the cycle of repetition until numbness...

Isn’t this the outcome he most feared seeing?

”Aren’t you resistors supposed to be merciful?” The skeletal knight couldn’t understand this result; it wasn’t what he had imagined.

He initially thought this group of resistors wouldn’t do anything to him. Yet now it seems they indeed hadn’t done anything to him, but the result was still bitter!

This is a kind of permanent exile!

”You don’t understand the resistors,” Sol said nonchalantly while floating in the air, ”We are never merciful. For scoundrels like you, we naturally use the harshest methods. Enjoy your unknown fears.”

This outcome was unexpected. The skeletal knight never anticipated things would turn out this way. He could not face the unknown like this. The feeling was even more terrifying than being scattered or devoured...

”Please, I beg you...”

Just as the skeletal knight was pleading with the resistors to scatter him, a loud noise suddenly rang out from outside the Barrier. This unexpected sound made the skeletal knight quite unsettled. Could it be that, as the resistor’s leader had said, the Soul Devourers were fully committed to this silly boy?

Boom boom—boom—

The edge of the Barrier was being attacked, and the thunders protecting the Barrier had been breached.

”Finally, they’ve come!” Sol seemed to have anticipated it. He floated in the air for a long time, calmly waiting.

The Mos Brothers and Shana also assumed combat stances. Although the Barrier’s time hadn’t expired, a breach had already been made, meaning the other side had come prepared. Destroying this Thunderbolt shield in just a few strikes indicated the attacker was a master.

Quite possibly above the King Realm!

Could it be that the Soul Devourer Master has come in person?

Boom, boom—

The Barrier’s protective layer had been breached. Igor could even see the lightning zooming around chaotically. Even when attacked, these thunders maintained their guardian essence, preserving the Barrier until they completely dissipated.

These thunders seemed like living entities, entirely alive rather than fleeting flashes of lightning.

This is the power bestowed by the Spirit. They can give life to any inherently formless and shapeless things, just like those Wind Spirits and Fire Spirits, aren’t they the same as this Thunder Spirit before him...

Strangely enough, with danger looming, what Igor thought of were entirely different matters. He had no reaction whatsoever to the imminent danger.

The rumbling outside grew quieter and quieter, gradually turning into a knocking sound, like someone at the door.

Igor puzzled over what kind of person this enemy could be, and why they were relentlessly targeting him. He still couldn’t grasp his place in all of this, even though Sol’s explanation had been thorough.

He didn’t understand, he merely went to Guru Mountain, so why was the Soul Devourer Master so bent on capturing him?

As Sol explained, the Soul Devourer Master aimed to obtain more information about Teleportation Portals. More could be gleaned from Igor’s consciousness, hence the obsession with him.

But Igor found it a bit far-fetched. Regarding Guru Mountain, his mind was still blank because he originally didn’t remember those paths, so he couldn’t possibly know about Guru Mountain.

This was entirely an unpredictable matter, truly. Igor believed that the Soul Devourer Master would be very disappointed upon meeting him. What he could provide to the Soul Devourer Master wouldn’t be delightful; it would only be an unexpected surprise.

Igor was firm in this belief, so he was also quite eager for the moment when the Barrier would be breached.
