One-Eyed Monster

Anyway, right now this Skeleton Knight was using an extremely intense way to voice his dissatisfaction with Igor.

And it just so happened that this also revealed all the information the Soul Devourer side had about Igor.

Unconsciously, without a sound.

Sol’s methods were really something.

Igor half understood, half didn’t. He understood because from Sol’s reaction he could tell Sol had already gotten the part of the information he wanted; he didn’t understand the stuff the Skeleton Knight was saying.

Things like ”familiar scent,” ”key”—Igor couldn’t make sense of any of them.

But Igor was pretty calm about it. He felt it didn’t matter if he didn’t understand; Sol was here anyway.

As long as Sol understood, that was enough. Whether he himself got it or not wasn’t important—and he felt that sooner or later he would understand all this anyway. That was the inevitable trend: he would slowly figure out all the peculiarities about himself. Because he firmly believed in the saying ”when the boat reaches the bridge it will go straight, when the cart comes to the mountain there’ll be a road.”

Right now he just needed to stand on Sol’s side.

Sol’s face was deadly serious, because from the information he had, he knew this whole thing was anything but simple.

Igor’s special nature wasn’t that obvious. Sol could sense a bit of difference, but he hadn’t thought in that direction.

It had never crossed Sol’s mind that Igor actually carried a power capable of breaking through the rules of this Border Realm.

A key—a key that could open the door connecting the Border Realm to other worlds!

What kind of power was that!

Of course this power was miraculous, but it still wasn’t enough to make Sol feel the situation was particularly urgent.

What Sol found more suspicious was: how had this Soul Devourer Master instantly judged that Igor carried such a power?

True, Igor had caused quite a stir when he entered the Border Realm—alarming those monsters like the Flame Demon and the Stone Monster. That was a sign of being no ordinary person. But that alone was just enough to draw the monsters’ attention. Plenty of powerful consciousnesses, when they came in, often attracted those monsters too.

Could Igor really be hiding some secret?

Sol didn’t buy it. The boy in front of him was so pure he couldn’t be any more pure, and he did things so willfully he didn’t look like someone with any big secret at all.

If this entire act of Igor’s was fake, then Igor would be downright terrifying!

Seeing Sol’s expression so grim, Igor felt things might be getting tricky, so he carefully asked, ”So what does all this mean right now?!”

The Mos Brothers chuckled, ”Right now it means you’re important, and we have to protect you.”

Igor was completely at a loss. How did it suddenly become about protecting him? He really couldn’t stand the feeling of being protected!

The Skeleton Knight was still ranting about his resentment toward Igor: ”You, you’re the reason I’ve fallen to this state. You will definitely not come to a good end. Your consciousness will absolutely collapse, and then you’ll be completely devoured by my master, not a single bit left behind!”

”You really are vicious,” Sol frowned at the Skeleton Knight. ”I hate your kind of Soul Devourers the most—stopping at nothing to achieve your goals, never considering the consequences!”

Igor stared at the Lightning in Sol’s hand, extremely excited. So they were going to give this Soul Devourer a proper beating!

”Then go ahead and collapse me, but you won’t, will you? You’re Resistors—you always save those fragmentary consciousnesses, those wandering consciousnesses.”

”That’s for people who are lost. Facing someone like you, who only wants to climb up by stepping on others’ shoulders, we won’t have a shred of mercy.” Sol said, his face solemn.

These Soul Devourers were complete bastards, harming others to achieve their own goals. Sol couldn’t tolerate that. And once these bastards entered the real world, they would definitely run wild there too. Holding several people’s memories—how could they not run wild?

Sol felt his mission was special: he had to protect his own world from being invaded by these bastards.

Besides, he could sense that many Soul Devourers weren’t even the same kind as them—they weren’t even human!

In his clashes with the Soul Devourer Master, he had already discovered a lot. Saying he knew the Soul Devourer Master best in this Border Realm wasn’t just talk.

Igor’s arrival had made the Soul Devourer Master, who’d been calm for quite some time, suddenly restless, as if this was the very day the Soul Devourer Master had been waiting for.

That made Sol curious as well: what was the real purpose behind Igor suddenly appearing here?

”Igor, why did you come here?” Sol turned his head, pondering as he asked. The Lightning in his hand was still flickering, while the Skeleton Knight had basically been tossed aside by him.

”I came here to find you. Do you know how worried people outside are about you?” Igor repeated what he’d said before. He had indeed come here to look for Sol.

”How did you even find the passage to get in here?” Sol kept asking. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Igor; it was just that so many things were too suspicious—there had to be something off somewhere.

”This is a long story…” Igor sighed.

”Hit the highlights.”

”Alright. I learned how to use the Inner World Spell on Guru Mountain, and I was able to communicate with Spirits from another world, which means I’m an Awakening. Then, seeing the way you looked outside, I guessed you’d also entered this Inner World and were stuck wrestling with a Spirit without being able to come out. So I came in to give you a hand, and… here we are now!”

Igor rattled it all out in one breath. The Mos Brothers and Shana were completely confused, but Sol heard every word clearly.

”You said Guru Mountain?” Sol asked.

”Yeah, that’s also where I met your little brother, Stan!”

”This has nothing to do with my brother. I’m asking if there’s a monster on Guru Mountain?”

”Guru Mountain has a whole bunch of monsters!”

…Sol knew nothing about Grand Master Guzan, so Igor’s answer really shocked him.

”Do you know Master Guzan?” Seeing Sol’s expression, Igor hurriedly asked.

”I’ve never interacted with Guzan, but I know what he’s achieved.”

”He’s the boss of all the monsters on Guru Mountain!”

Sol was instantly confused. How did the topic suddenly shift again? He was asking about that monster on Guru Mountain, but Igor said Guzan was the boss of the monsters. How was that supposed to make any sense on the spot!

”The monster I mean is a blue-skinned guy. Have you seen him?” Sol asked again, thinking Igor must have misunderstood something.

”You mean Kadi? He’s my friend, of course I know him!”

Hearing this, Sol suddenly saw the light—and at the same time, he was deeply shocked.

Igor also felt this was strange, so he asked, ”Why are you asking about that? Have you been to Guru Mountain?”

”No, I’ve never been there. But I’m tightly connected to that mountain. Maybe that’s what you call destiny.”
