Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 9: Chapter 8: God of the Past, Koraidon

In the small cabin lit up by lights.

Naoki and Cyclizar looked at the Pokemon they had jointly dragged in from outside, lying on the floor.

With just one look, Naoki recognized the identity of this Pokemon.

Paradise Guardian Dragon, Wing King, God of the Past...

These are all names for this Pokemon.

It originally had no name, but after being summoned to this era, it was discovered and named Koraidon by the professor.

That’s right, Koraidon.

One of the legendary cover Pokemon of the game Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it is said that it once cracked the earth with its fists.

Currently, everything about its ecology in this world is unclear, but some believe it is what Cyclizar looked like in the past...

Although it resembles Cyclizar in appearance, Koraidon is much more tenacious and fierce.

Naoki compared Koraidon to Cyclizar and noticed that their skeletal structures were indeed very similar.

So, here’s the question.

How did Koraidon end up in this place?

Naoki fell into deep thought.

In his mind, he pondered the information about Koraidon from the game.

Summoned by Professor Sada through the Time Machine, it escaped Zone Zero after failing to compete for territory with another Koraidon, eventually falling exhausted on a beach in the southern part of the Paldea Region, where it was found by the game’s protagonist...

”So, what exactly is happening now?”

Naoki was a bit confused. He exchanged a glance with the innocent-looking Cyclizar opposite him, and then looked down at Koraidon.

The next second, Koraidon’s tightly closed eyes suddenly snapped open, and its golden pupils filled with a fierce aura, locked onto the human in front of it.

Naoki was taken aback.

But immediately, that fierce aura disappeared, although Koraidon still stared at him.

Naoki: ”?”

”Gah-ow?” Cyclizar tilted its head.

Upon hearing the third party’s growl, Koraidon’s expression slightly changed.

After seeing Cyclizar clearly, an expression of disbelief appeared in Koraidon’s eyes, and then it seemed to understand something.

Suddenly, many memories surfaced in its mind...

Long, long ago, when it was still a Cyclizar, it had also encountered a Koraidon one night.

Today is just like that night.

However, back then, it was in the position of the Cyclizar opposite it.

It looked at the somewhat intimidated Cyclizar and suddenly realized how the Koraidon it had encountered when it was a Cyclizar came to be.

It was itself.

It fell into the Time Machine, waited for thousands of years in a distant time-space, and was finally summoned again, only to arrive in an even earlier time...

Koraidon’s gaze was fixed on Cyclizar.

Seeing the two in a standoff, Naoki was a little afraid that this Koraidon from who-knows-where might suddenly go berserk and attack Cyclizar.

He quickly stepped in front of Cyclizar, blocking Koraidon’s sight, and forced himself to speak as kindly as possible: ”Haha, um... you’re okay now, right? I just saw you fall from the sky and brought you back to my home.”

With such an unfamiliar and aggressive Pokemon, it’s better to be cautious.

Seeing Naoki protecting Cyclizar, Koraidon’s feelings grew complicated.

Feeling both frustrated and displeased, it watched this scene, not knowing why but feeling a bit sour inside.

What complicated its feelings even more was that the Cyclizar was still itself.

Its past self...

Naoki silently observed Koraidon’s behavior.

If the opponent doesn’t move, I won’t move.

But just then, a rumbling sound suddenly came from Koraidon’s stomach.

The air was filled with an awkward atmosphere as a result.

Naoki: ”...”

He and Cyclizar had already eaten dinner, and seeing that Koraidon seemed not going berserk, he quietly breathed a sigh of relief and said to Koraidon, ”You’re hungry, aren’t you? I still have some food here. Do you want to eat?”

Koraidon immediately nodded obediently, completely devoid of its earlier fierceness.

The moment it heard there was food, it immediately changed its demeanor... Naoki couldn’t help but grumble inwardly.

Yet, he still stood up, bringing Cyclizar to the cupboard and taking out the fresh ingredients he bought today—a piece of pork shoulder meat.

This meat is lean but not dry, fatty but not greasy. The pan-seared pork steak cooked from it is tender and juicy, very suitable for large-sized Pokemon like Koraidon.

After cleaning the meat and removing the fat and skin, he cut it into moderately thin pieces and put them in a bowl.

Naoki then took out the seasonings he had just bought, including dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, oyster sauce, white sugar, black pepper powder, and cornstarch for thickening.

He added the seasonings to the bowl in turn, mixing them with the prepared meat slices thoroughly before placing them in the pot to slowly cook over medium-low heat.

Soon, golden yellow grease started seeping out from the meat, accompanied by the sizzling sound of the jumping grease, and an enticing aroma began to fill the room.

Inside the pot, the meat bathed in the sauce slowly turned golden, the fresh pork brimming with vitality, gently swaying in the rich aroma and grease, bursting with juicy tenderness.

During the process, Naoki glanced back.

He saw that at an unknown time, Koraidon had transformed into a sprinting form on all fours, watching this side while drooling.

Although Cyclizar had already filled its stomach, it still couldn’t help but gulp at the smell.

Naoki chuckled silently, estimated the timing in his heart, and when it seemed about right, he took the meat out of the pot, divided it into two portions, and placed them on white plates.

Looking down, the information about this dish appeared before him.

”Huh?” Naoki was a bit surprised.

Is the effect of this pan-seared pork steak that good?

It’s just that the duration is a bit short.

Naoki thought of the black truffle he found earlier and wondered if he added this enhancing ingredient, would the duration become permanent?

”I must try it when I get the chance.”

He then placed the plates in front of Cyclizar and Koraidon, watching them devour the meals. Then, after a little thought, he brought out two brand-new glass cups, two Berries, and two bottles of MooMoo Milk.

After eating meat, how could you not have a cup of fresh juice to cleanse your palate?

Besides, Naoki wanted to know if directly juicing Berries would, like cooking, result in wonderful beneficial effects.

The appearance of Berries is similar to fruit, but since there were not enough to juice, Naoki planned to add an appropriate amount of milk to mix.

After washing his hands, Naoki squeezed the juice from the two Berries into a cup and finally poured in milk to mix thoroughly.

This milk was purchased at the Porto Marinada Market, 500 milliliters a bottle, costing him 120 League coins.

Soon, the juice and milk were thoroughly mixed.

Naoki looked closely, and as expected, the information about this Berry Milk appeared in his mind.
