The scene fell utterly silent.

Minato Namikaze’s words, in the face of the four Kage’s united opposition, were perceived as contemptuous.

Jiraiya and Tsunade’s expressions shifted; they exchanged a worried glance, bracing themselves.

Minato’s proposal was reckless, but as Hokage, he represented Konoha’s stance. They would protect him.

”Good. Good. Excellent Konoha. Excellent Fourth Hokage,” the Fourth Raikage said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Lightning crackled around him as he lunged towards Minato with terrifying speed.

The sudden attack shocked everyone.

Before they could react, the Fourth Raikage was upon Minato, his lightning-wreathed fist hurtling towards him with a sonic boom.

Lightning Release: Lariat!

A killing blow, enhanced by his Lightning Release Chakra Mode and speed.

It was meant to be a decapitating strike.

But Minato’s hand flickered, throwing a Flying Raijin kunai. He vanished, reappearing behind the Fourth Raikage, his kunai at the Raikage’s throat.

”Nii-san!” Killer Bee roared, his tailed beast chakra erupting, forming a tailed beast cloak.

Before he could act, Jiraiya’s Lion’s Mane technique lashed out, blocking his attack. Tsunade moved to Minato’s side, alert.

”Hmph, the Yellow Flash is fast, but that won’t convince us to reconcile with Uchiha Kai,” the Fourth Raikage sneered, his lightning surging.

”That brat, with his rabble, thinks he can stand with Kumogakure? He’ll never know Kumogakure is an unbreakable fortress!”

Another surge of lightning forced Minato to retreat.

Grabbing Tsunade’s shoulder, Minato used the Flying Raijin to disappear.

BOOM!

The lightning-clad fist slammed into the ground, shattering the earth and creating deep fissures. The Kage and samurai scattered.

When the dust settled, only the ravaged ground and the Fourth Raikage remained. Minato, Tsunade, and Jiraiya were several meters away, their expressions grave.

Minato’s suggestion had been rejected. Konoha would face isolation, perhaps even an attack in the Land of Iron.

”Hmph, he escaped quickly. Konoha shinobi are something else,” the Fourth Raikage sneered, his anger subsiding. ”You’re delusional if you think we’ll reconcile.”

”Don’t think we’re giving your Hokage face. Let that brat try. If he can conquer a village, we’ll reconsider.

But don’t say we didn’t warn him. Attacking a village is suicidal. I hope he chooses Kumogakure; I’ll be waiting to kill him and hang his head at the gate!”

His unrestrained laughter echoed. Mifune breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as the Kage didn’t fight, it was enough.

He would side with the Fourth Raikage; a renegade conquering a village was preposterous.

”Watergate, let’s give it up,” Jiraiya said, dispelling his jutsu. ”Perhaps it’s best to...”

”Raikage-sama!” a hurried voice cut through the air.

Everyone turned to see a figure descending from the sky.

”Dodai, what happened? Weren’t you guarding the village?” the Fourth Raikage demanded, his expression hardening. Dodai, his teacher in the Lightning Style Release technique, was highly valued. That’s why he hadn’t brought Dodai to the Land of Iron, instead taking Killer Bee for better village defense.

”Th-the Yotsuki clan rebelled, and Matatabi went berserk...” Dodai gasped.

Before he could finish, the Fourth Raikage grabbed his shoulder.

”Those damn fools rebelled again! I should have killed them all when I took office!”

His words were filled with murderous intent. Everyone’s faces turned grim. They knew of the Yotsuki clan’s past rebellion.

They hadn’t expected another rebellion during the summit, with Kumogakure’s top forces away, especially using Matatabi.

”Nii-san, let’s go back immediately!” Killer Bee urged. Kumogakure, facing a rampaging Matatabi and a Yotsuki clan rebellion, was defenseless. Dodai had barely escaped to warn them. Even if Kumogakure survived, it would be in dire straits.

As Killer Bee and the Fourth Raikage prepared to leave, Dodai looked around hesitantly. ”Raikage-sama, please wait. There’s something I should... perhaps we should discuss it privately?”
