Observing Kai, who was completely unpretentious and didn’t judge Karui and the others, Samui was struck by his strength, protectiveness, and exceptional medical ninjutsu. A phrase from Yugito Nii echoed in her mind:

”Big-Sister, do you have a crush on Greasy Old Man? He’s really safe and an amazing cook,” Yugito Nii said, appearing unexpectedly.

Winking, she added, ”Big-Sister, why don’t you marry Greasy Old Man and keep him in the village? I don’t want to be separated from him.”

A hint of sadness flickered across Yugito’s face. Unlike Samui, she knew Kai’s true identity, but having spent time with him, she’d come to understand his true character. He was the complete opposite of the ruthless villain portrayed in rumors.

”You want me to keep him?” Samui blushed, ruffling Yugito’s hair. ”You little rascal, don’t talk nonsense. I’ll try to convince the Fourth Raikage to keep him. His strength and medical skills are invaluable. The Raikage might agree if he joins the village.”

”No, he won’t,” Yugito stubbornly shook her head, her eyes welling up. ”He’ll leave soon. And I know he’s a good person.”

With that cryptic statement, Yugito carried the milk towards Kai, leaving Samui bewildered.

”Does she mean the Fourth Raikage won’t agree, or that my charm isn’t enough to keep him?” Samui glanced at Kai’s busy form, then blushed, snapping herself out of it. ”Ugh, what am I thinking?”

”Samui, your life belongs to Kumogakure. Don’t let your emotions cloud your judgment. A shinobi must remain detached to be strong,” she muttered, slapping her cheeks.

Before she could compose herself, Kai moved. He opened a scroll revealing a complete set of cooking utensils, leaving Samui speechless. If she hadn’t witnessed his combat prowess and medical ninjutsu, she would have mistaken him for a chef.

”Fire Release: Palm Fire Technique!”

Kai set a large iron pot over the fire, forming a hand seal. Flames erupted, engulfing the pot as he poured in the milk and covered it.

In another pot, he added the wild ginger he’d gathered. Using a chakra-infused blade, he quickly chopped the ginger into small pieces with lightning-fast precision.

Once finished, he plunged the blade into the ground and gathered chakra, forming a miniature Rasengan.

If Minato Namikaze saw this, he’d be astonished to see the Rasengan used as a blender and juicer.

”That’s chakra transformation. The control and compression required are at least A-rank level.

Someone who can casually use A-rank jutsu would be an elite jōnin in this village,” Samui thought, wondering why Kai was using such a complex technique. But the next moment left her wide-eyed.

Kai pressed the Rasengan into the ginger, pulverizing and mixing it. The ginger juice flowed freely, filling the air with a fresh, spicy aroma.

”Old man, the milk is boiling,” Yugito Nii said, watching curiously. Since witnessing Kai’s cooking, the process had seemed like magic.

”Add the sugar,” Kai said, glancing at the steaming milk. Yugito poured in the measured sugar.

Kumogakure’s high-altitude location made it cold. Samui was in a vulnerable state, and Karui and the others were clearly suffering from the cold.

While medicine could help, the best medicine could also be harmful. Kai decided to make ginger milk pudding, a Cantonese specialty, using readily available ingredients.

It was simple, warming, and had beauty and sleep-inducing benefits, particularly beneficial for women.

”Old man, I’ve finished mixing it,” Yugito said, wrinkling her nose. ”But it still smells a bit... pungent.”

”And it’s just plain milk, nothing special,” she added.

Samui and Karui also watched curiously. The two tailed beasts, hanging around Kai’s neck, were practically seething with frustration.

To them, Kai’s cooking was beyond comprehension, and his culinary skills were not to be questioned.

”This milk looks ordinary, but the next step is key. Bring me the cooked wild red beans,” Kai said. ”If you don’t rush to eat it later, I’ll write the character obey for you.”

”Really?” Yugito wrinkled her nose. ”Old man, if it’s as amazing as you say, I won’t call you Greasy Old Man anymore, and I’ll even help you find someone so you can get married.”

Kai took the red beans and sprinkled them evenly into the ginger juice. Without hesitation, he grabbed the hot pot and, to everyone’s astonishment, poured the steaming milk into the ginger juice and red beans.

The success of this Cantonese dessert depended on the milk’s temperature, the ginger juice’s consistency, and the steeping time. Any mistake would ruin the flavor.

As the hot milk mixed with the ginger juice and red beans, a unique aroma filled the air. Just as Yugito and the others inhaled deeply, Kai quickly covered the bowl.

Yugito and the others immediately protested.

”Old man, are you mad at me? I didn’t mean to question you.”
