That technique?

Samui’s expression shifted. As a disciple of the previous jinchuriki, she knew it well: a trump card the Third Raikage had devised to counter tailed beast rampages when the village’s strongest shinobi were unavailable.

This technique offered a chance to suppress the beast. However, dealing with a rampaging tailed beast required a significant number of users.

”Samui, don’t hesitate. Suppressing this rampage will make you a village hero, making it easier for people to accept the refugees,” Dodai said, his expression growing grim.

He glanced at the tailed beast furiously battering the sealing barrier.

For the four performing the technique, the sheer energy transfer would cause chakra depletion and immense strain.

Failure to seal the beast would lead to chakra exhaustion and certain death.

”A hero?” Samui hesitated, then thought of the ravaged refugee camp. If they could subdue the beast before nightfall, Karui and the others could have new homes, escaping hunger and cold.

They could finally be accepted into Kumogakure.

A resolute expression crossed Samui’s face. She sharply commanded, ”Begin!”

Her sealing team instantly scattered, taking up positions at sixteen points. Without hesitation, as Samui formed the first seal, all sixteen simultaneously initiated the technique.

”Lightning Release: Sixteen-Pillar Binding Technique!”

BOOM!

The earth roared, the valley shaking like an earthquake. Sixteen pillars erupted from the ground, forming a massive cage. As Samui completed her final seal, lightning surged, creating a sixteen-pillar seal around the initial four-pillar binding.

”Continue!” Samui shouted, her hand still moving.

Sixty-four Kumogakure shinobi, already prepared, moved like arrows, taking positions. They formed seals, the ground rumbled, and rock pillars rose, encasing the valley.

With thunderous booms and flashing lightning, this combined with the initial binding, created an even larger sixty-four-pillar binding technique.

The vast valley was instantly engulfed in lightning, obscuring even Matatabi’s form. Only Matatabi’s ferocious roars pierced the blinding light, proving the beast was still within.

”Good!” Dodai said, relieved.

This barrier had never been used in combat before.

Previously, the Third Raikage had personally confronted rampaging tailed beasts, even cleaving off a horn from Gyūki. This cumbersome barrier had seemed impractical.

But its success was gratifying, even as their chakra rapidly depleted.

”Quickly subdue it! We can only maintain this formation for ten minutes,” Dodai shouted urgently at Samui.

”Sensei Dodai, understood,” Samui nodded firmly, determined to play the role of hero to protect Karui and the others.

Taking a deep breath, a resolute glint in her eyes, she formed seals.

”Attack! Suppress the tailed beast!”

Her sharp command was met with a sudden shift in everyone’s expressions, including Dodai’s.

”Kinkaku, Ginkaku, what are you doing?!”

”Samui, watch your back!”

Dodai roared, his warning sending a jolt through Samui.

She glanced behind to see a chakra-infused blade flashing towards her, rapidly enlarging in her vision.

”Our great hero is about to die,” Kinkaku laughed cruelly.

They had manipulated Matatabi’s seal to weaken it, luring Kumogakure’s elite shinobi into using this complex formation. While they were distracted and unable to fight back, they would strike.

Their goal was halfway achieved.

Eliminating the remaining elders and sealing the Two-Tails with Black Lightning would leave them in control of Kumogakure when the Fourth Raikage returned.

”Black Lightning: Black Lightning Spear!”

BOOM!

Black lightning descended from the sky, blindingly bright, striking towards Kinkaku with terrifying speed. The attack was completely unexpected. In their plan, the Black Lightning was supposed to be theirs.

Even if someone could use it, it would be Mokkaku, who had developed the Lightning Seal. This situation defied their expectations.

Before they could react to the sudden attack, they were faced with the black lightning. They couldn’t retreat.

”Kinkaku, retreat!” Ginkaku grabbed Kinkaku’s shoulder, pulling him back as they fled. The black lightning struck where Kinkaku had stood, shattering the rock. The lingering black lightning arc made them gasp.

They then saw a youth behind Samui, and their pupils constricted.

”Samui-neesan, are you alright?!” Darui asked anxiously.

But everyone noticed the black lightning kanji on his arm and the black lightning arcing around him.

”Darui, you... how can you use Black Lightning? You shouldn’t even be eligible for the trial,” Samui said, her voice tight.

While Darui possessing Black Lightning would be an honor for any Kumogakure shinobi, his refugee status disqualified him from the Black Lightning Inheritance Hall. Darui’s possessing Black Lightning violated Kumogakure’s laws, punishable by death. This was not something Samui wanted to see.

Before Darui could speak, an elderly figure descended from the sky, his panicked expression sending a jolt of tension through everyone.
