Chapter 148: The secret of Oliver Hamilton

Oliver Hamilton was not a native of this world of Aetherion.

He was from an ancient world where cultivation reigned supreme. He had been a sword prodigy from a very young age.

His father was called the Sword Saint, the very pinnacle existence of that world. But one day, everything changed. His world was invaded by a strange type of creatures called the Abyssal.

An infinite number of Abyssals overwhelmed their world in less than a month. Every human died in that world; not even the Saints were spared.

Oliver was only 17 years old at that time. He fought alongside his father until the very last moment.

His father gave up his life just to buy some more time for Oliver, but life wasn’t so easy.

Oliver couldn’t escape from their grasp; he died by the sharp claws of those dark monsters.

But Oliver wasn’t in despair at the moment of his death, as everything he ever loved was gone—his father, mother, fiancée—everyone had died. So Oliver wasn’t even trying much to escape and was caught.

Oliver only had one regret,he couldn’t destroy those monsters who had ruined everything for him.

He closed his eyes when that sharp claw pierced into his heart, but when he opened them again, his soul had transmigrated into an infant—or perhaps he had been reincarnated with the memories of his previous life.

He was born into the noble Hamilton family, the family of Alexander Hamilton.

The father of Oliver in this life was also a very powerful hunter and swordsman.

Oliver showed his talent in sword from a very young age, as he had retained the memories of his previous life and became most privileged child of the Hamilton family.

And the most important, absolute secret of his life was his system.

The ”Hero System.”

This system activated when he turned 5 years old. Though the world of Aetherion had its own game-like system, Oliver’s personal system was far superior.

Its function was simple: the system would give him missions. The more valiantly he completed the mission, the higher the reward. He completed his first task with a 10-star rating and obtained the transcended talent, ”Sword Sovereign.”

This was the talent that made him the absolute leader among the young generation.

Even other talents in the same rank paled in comparison, as this one was given by the system.

Moreover, over the years, he completed many missions and received numerous rewards, such as the Sword Sovereign Physique, Sword Sense, and even the Sword of Destruction—a transcended-level sword from the system.

Oliver was building his own power, knowing that he would have to face many enemies. The system also told him that this was just the beginning. Once he reached the transcended realm, the system would upgrade, and he would be able to leave this world for a greater one.

Now Oliver was sitting on the corpses of monsters, thinking about the new mission the system had given him.

”Befriend Ryan Hunt.”

So he needed to find this Ryan Hunt first, and then he could become his friend.

The important task was figuring out how to find the actual guy.

The system was actually not that unreasonable—if he could find the right person, the system would notify him. He won’t have to keep guessing.

”Okay, enough hunting for today. Let’s go to the academy. The new students have already been admitted, right? There should be a party tonight. I need to be present there,” Oliver thought to himself.

Then he cut down the carcasses and took all their important parts.

Oliver left the Forest of Jura.

Ethan was sleeping in his room. After three hours of a good afternoon sleep, he woke up.

He freshened up. When he finished dressing for the party, he heard a knock on the door.

”Liam must have sent someone.”

Ethan opened the door.

It was Liam himself.

Ethan smiled. ”Senior, I didn’t expect you would come personally.”

Liam said, ”Yeah, the registration is finished. We hired three more students besides you. But they are A-rank, and one is an S-rank talent. So I thought I should make friends with the highest-talented dude first, so I came.”

Liam smiled.

Ethan was speechless. ”Damn, you are so straightforward . Okay, I like straight forward people. Shall we go now?”

Ethan also smiled.

Liam nodded. The two of them soon left the dormitory. Liam was an SS-rank awakener, so he was also from the Dragon Dormitory.

The party would take place in the main club room of the Sword Club.

Today, there were parties in all the other clubs as well.

The club building was bursting with people.

Ethan soon saw some familiar faces too.

It was Saimon and Siri—the two siblings who had caused a huge commotion on Awakening Day.

Siri had awakened the transcended talent, ”The Devouring Body,” whereas Saimon had awakened an X-rank talent, ”Illusion.”

Ethan had a good impression of them, as Saimon was an extrovert and talked to him nicely, whereas Siri was an introvert, but both of them were good people.

Besides, Ethan could tell Siri had some secrets inside her body, and those secrets might be terrifying, so he decided to keep an eye on her.

Ethan and Liam were about to enter the club room when Saimon saw him.

He shouted from afar and waved his hand in greeting.

Ethan smiled and also waved back.

Then they entered the room.

Liam asked, ”Do you know those two siblings? They’re the hot topic nowadays. The only transcended awakener this year is that girl. Her brother is also not bad, but it’s a pity they joined the ’Battle Club.’ That club is full of all types of awakeners with fighting talents. It’s the top-ranked club.

”Our Sword Club has a legacy not to accept anyone other than sword masters... sigh!”

While Ethan and Liam were talking, they heard Sofia’s voice from behind. ”Oh, is that regret I heard from you, Liam Cromwell?”

Liam jumped like someone had stepped on his tail.

He smiled awkwardly. ”Ah, Sofia, what are you talking about? You must have heard something wrong.”

Then he looked at her from top to bottom and said, ”You look gorgeous, my lady.”
