Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 950: Chapter 950: A Day as a Teacher (19)

In the blink of an eye, it’s the Culture Festival.

The performance order is arranged by program type, and Class Twenty-Two of Senior Year has two programs.

Chuzheng is backstage watching, when suddenly a teacher comes in: ”Some leaders will be coming to attend the Culture Festival shortly, everyone be careful, don’t make any mistakes!!”

”What?”

”Why weren’t we notified in advance?”

”Exactly, why are we only being told now?”

The teachers backstage immediately go into a frenzy.

”The leadership visit is last minute, even the principal didn’t know until they drove into the school gate!” The teacher notifying them is also quite bewildered: ”You all keep an eye on things, I’m heading to the front.”

Everyone exchanges glances.

But at this point, they can only bite the bullet and face it.

Hopefully, nothing will go wrong.

But the more you don’t want something to go wrong, the more likely something will.

The school’s sound system suddenly malfunctioned.

”Teacher Su, isn’t the sound system your responsibility?”

Someone calls out to Su He.

”Not me.” Su He shakes his head, glances towards Chuzheng, and says: ”Teacher Ruan is responsible for it.”

Standing by, witness to the situation called forth from the heavens.

What’s it got to do with me!

Su He continues to explain: ”I have other things to deal with, so I passed the responsibility on to Teacher Ruan. Teacher Ruan, didn’t I talk to you after the last meeting, did you forget?”

Chuzheng: ”...”

How come I don’t know about it?

Last time, didn’t you come and ask me if I had seen your stuff left in the dormitory?

How did the sound system matter become my responsibility?

But at the time of the meeting, many teachers indeed saw Chuzheng and Su He standing together.

Su He claims to have told Chuzheng then, so even if no one heard their conversation, everyone would instinctively believe it.

”Teacher Ruan, what’s going on with the sound system, didn’t you check it?”

The teachers look at Chuzheng with eyes full of blame.

Su He looks innocent, but secretly curls her lip.

”Can it still be fixed?”

”How can it be fixed, none of us knows how.” They don’t even know what’s wrong, they just know whatever they do, there’s no sound.

”Where can we get it fixed on such short notice? The leaders are already here.”

”Teacher Ruan is really...”

Arguing or debating at this moment is pointless, it would only worsen the situation.

”I’ll solve it, you guys go ahead and stay busy.”

”Teacher Ruan, how will you fix it?” Su He says: ”There’s only an hour left till it starts.”

”It hasn’t started yet.” Chuzheng looks at her, pronouncing each word clearly.

Just you wait, you scoundrel!

Chuzheng grabs her phone and leaves.

With money, don’t even mention one sound system, ten sound systems can be sorted out in an hour.

The sound system arrives quickly, though they don’t really understand the brand or anything, but when testing, it turns out to be much better than the school’s old one.

There are professionals helping with installation and tuning, clearly far superior to what they could manage.

Su He stands nearby, grinding her teeth in frustration.

She managed to solve it!

A teacher checked it out, shocked at the price, dropping their phone in disbelief.

”Teacher Ruan, did you rent this sound system?”

”Bought it.”

”...”

Did Teacher Ruan win the lottery?!

Just this one sound system, it’s worth years of salary!

With Chuzheng’s big move, who still remembers the earlier fiasco, they only recall her extravagance and how quickly she solved the issue.

-

Su He is furious.

Where did she get that much money from... there must be something wrong.

A teacher comes over: ”Teacher Su, are you alright?”

”Nothing.” Su He immediately composes herself.

”Have some water, you’ll need to stay busy soon.”

”Thank you.” Su He takes the water and drinks a sip.

”Teacher Su, you’re here, take a look at this, we’ll follow this order shortly.”

Su He places the water aside and accepts the documents handed to her.

”Any issues?”

”No problems.”

”Then I’ll arrange it like this.” The teacher leaves with the documents.

Su He also prepares to leave, she turns, her hand moves too broadly, knocking over the cup of water she had just placed.

”Ah!”

Where she placed the water was a piano, and somehow the keyboard cover was open, causing the cup to spill all over the piano keys.

Su He seems startled, clutching her own hand.

What just happened?

”This is bad.” The teacher beside Su He is flustered, the water seeping quickly, spreading into the piano keys.

This piano was sponsored by the principal, as it was needed for the program.

I heard it’s a commemorative edition, and money can’t buy it now.

Other teachers hear the commotion and gather around.

”Teacher Su, you should be more careful.”

”No...” Su He turns a shade paler: ”It wasn’t me.”

”How was it not you? You just placed the water here yourself and knocked it over.”

”It really wasn’t me.” Su He explains.

She didn’t know what happened earlier, her arm suddenly seemed to cramp, losing control.

But since people were watching, Su He’s attempts to argue lack any persuasive power.

Chuzheng stands at a distance watching the spectacle, slowly walks out of the backstage, concealing her skills and accomplishments.

[...] Forget your damn skills and accomplishments.

-

Chuzheng heads to Class Twenty-Two of Senior Year, most people are already seated, Meng Yu sits in the front row, engaging with people jovially.

Seeing Chuzheng approaching, Meng Yu’s expression turns grim.

The grudge of scrapping the program, irreconcilable!

Chuzheng casually scans past him, counting the numbers in the class.

Qiao Lian sits alone in a corner, the light doesn’t reach him, shrouding him in shadows, inexplicably desolate.

Chuzheng walks down the path left open, Qiao Lian notices someone coming, and looks up at her.

”Teacher.”

”Sit over there.”

Qiao Lian glances at the spot directly facing the stage, then at the empty seat beside him.

”Oh.”

He shifts aside a little, and Chuzheng sits next to him.

The unfamiliar yet slightly familiar cool scent slowly permeates his nose.

Qiao Lian’s heart suddenly races, but it quickly calms back down.

”Teacher, can’t see clearly from here.” Qiao Lian removes his hand from the chair back, his voice cautious: ”Why are you sitting here, teacher?”

Chuzheng props her leg up, displaying an effortlessly charming boss-like posture: ”Why are you sitting here?”

Qiao Lian glances toward the stage, which is unlit, somewhat dim.

Qiao Lian slowly replies: ”Not really interested.”

”I’m not interested either.” Chuzheng uses his reason.

Qiao Lian withdraws his gaze, merely wanting to continue the conversation, casually asking: ”What is the teacher interested in?”

”You.”

”...”

The air suddenly falls silent.

Qiao Lian’s heart flutters, the ethereal fragrance lingers at his nose, making his heart pound like a drum.

”Teacher... what are you saying?”

”Nothing.”

Chuzheng gets up to leave, she steps away but then turns back, leaning slightly towards Qiao Lian: ”Keep the spot for me, I’ll be back soon.”

Qiao Lian looks at the face so close, his heart trembles even more.

He opens his mouth, but hasn’t spoken, Chuzheng has already swiftly left.

Qiao Lian pats his chest, feeling a bit lost, yet confused.
