Chapter 703: Chapter 703 Xiao Xiao’s Anomaly

”The Elder Martial Uncle must have her reasons for leaving. We should just focus on what we need to do. Alright, she’s gone. Let’s head back.”

Once Ye Qingchen had completely vanished from sight, the two turned and left.

Ye Qingchen followed Xiao Xiao out of the Wuji Immortal Palace, marching forward without daring to slack in the slightest. Soon, a full day had passed and the sky began to darken.

”Young Master, there’s a forest up ahead. Let’s stop there and rest for a bit!” Xiao Xiao suggested.

The two had been walking all day and were exhausted. The First Mystic Realm of the Western Region was a great distance away; even at their fastest speed, the journey would take a month.

”Young Master, please take a seat. I’ll go find something for you to eat,” Xiao Xiao said, looking around and smiling at Ye Qingchen.

”Xiao Xiao, there’s no need for that. We still have rations, so we can just make do.” Having traveled with him for so long, Ye Qingchen didn’t want to see her work any harder.

However, Xiao Xiao was adamant. ”Young Master, how could I let you do that? The resources here are plentiful. It’s no trouble at all to make you a proper meal.”

Seeing Xiao Xiao’s attitude, Ye Qingchen waved his hand in resignation. ”Alright then, go ahead, but be careful.”

Ye Qingchen had scanned the area just a moment before and knew it was just an ordinary, dense forest. There were no terrifying Monster Beasts, but who knew if something might leap out at any second?

Seeing that Ye Qingchen had agreed, Xiao Xiao happily set off into the woods. She searched for a long time but couldn’t find anything edible.

How strange. This forest is so large and filled with so many different auras, yet I can’t find a single thing to eat?

Xiao Xiao wandered in a large circle for a long time but still came up empty-handed.

Forget it. I’d better head back before the Young Master starts to worry.

Xiao Xiao reluctantly headed back. However, just as she approached their camp, she suddenly spotted a colossal creature squatting on a branch. It was glaring fiercely at Ye Qingchen in the distance.

That thing is going to attack the Young Master! Upon seeing the creature, this was the only thought in her mind.

The massive creature didn’t know it had been spotted. It just kept drooling as it stared at Ye Qingchen.

You beast! How dare you even think of harming the Young Master! The thought grew stronger in Xiao Xiao’s mind. Unbeknownst to her, her eyes turned dark red as a malevolent aura began to radiate from her body. At that moment, she could think of nothing else but the fact that this creature was about to attack Ye Qingchen. No one is allowed to harm the Young Master! You are no exception!

The next second, Xiao Xiao flew into a rage, charging toward the creature in the tree. It was a giant ape.

The ape was focused on Ye Qingchen when it suddenly heard a human roar from below. Startled, it leaped to a nearby branch.

OOH! OOH! OOH!

Seeing another human, the ape bellowed with excitement.

Xiao Xiao’s gaze was sinister, as if she were looking at a corpse. ”Laughing in the face of death, are you? How absurd! Tonight, I’ll be eating you!”

With that, Xiao Xiao charged. A punch imbued with tremendous energy slammed into the ape’s belly, but it had no effect. Instead, the powerful rebound sent her stumbling backward.

The ape, seeing Xiao Xiao was unharmed, grew even more excited and lunged straight for her.

Xiao Xiao was shocked to be thrown back. This beast is actually so strong? She was inwardly alarmed but quickly composed herself. So what if it’s a monkey with a bit of strength? I’ve been bottling up my anger for a while, and I’ve been looking for something to take it out on!

At that thought, a sharp glint flashed in her eyes.

In that case, let me show you what I’m truly capable of!

A cold smirk touched Xiao Xiao’s lips as she watched the approaching ape. Power exploded from her legs as she launched herself into a rapid spin, her feet tracing an arc through the air before landing heavily on the ape’s head.

An intense wave of pain shot through the ape, and it howled in agony. It began to struggle violently, trying to shake Xiao Xiao off its head, but it was futile.

Xiao Xiao stamped her feet down hard on the ape’s head and gripped its neck tightly, preventing it from breaking free. ”You damned thing! How dare you have ill intentions toward the Young Master! I won’t let you off easy!”

As she spoke, a bloodthirsty light gleamed in her eyes. Energy from the Vermilion Bird Holy Soul gathered in her palms as she viciously slammed them onto the ape’s face.

SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!

The ape’s eyes bulged as it tried to break free, but to no avail.

ROAR!

Its massive face was already swollen from the blows. Unable to bear it any longer, it gathered all its strength and flung Xiao Xiao off.

Xiao Xiao landed gracefully and let out a cold laugh. ”Trying to run? Not so easy!”

With that, she immediately gave chase. The two were like a pair of hunting machines, one relentlessly pursuing the other through the forest.

After an unknown amount of time, the ape suddenly stopped running. Xiao Xiao immediately halted as well, her eyes fixed on it. Her gaze turned piercing as she said coldly, ”Why did you stop running? Have you realized it’s hopeless?”

ROAR!

The ape stared at Xiao Xiao, its eyes filled with madness and bloodlust, and it roared again. It lunged, swiping fiercely with its claws. However, Xiao Xiao had anticipated the attack and avoided it with a slight sidestep.

Undeterred, the ape opened its cavernous maw, baring ghastly, sharp fangs as it lunged forward to bite her.

”Hmph!”

Seeing this, Xiao Xiao snorted coldly, leaping into the air to dodge the strike. The ape continued its ferocious assault, but her speed was simply too great. Not only that, but the fire elements surrounding her were so numerous that the ape couldn’t even get close enough to harm her.

Unwilling to give up, the ape continued its relentless attacks. Xiao Xiao, however, dodged with ease, landing counterattacks and inflicting wounds from time to time.

Finally, the ape exhausted its strength. It stopped its assault and simply stood there, staring at Xiao Xiao with eyes full of despair.

”Dying here today is what you deserve! This is what you get for trying to harm my Young Master!” Xiao Xiao said with a cold smirk as she walked up to the ape.

Looking at the ape’s massive head, her face was expressionless as she crushed it with a single blow.

As the ape died, the clarity returned to Xiao Xiao’s eyes. She didn’t notice that anything had been wrong with her. Instead, she began to prepare the ape’s corpse with excitement.

”Hahaha, tonight’s meal is taken care of.”
