I Return From Hell

Chapter 115: Chapter 108: Little Flower Completes Its Third Transformation

Gazing at the bloody yet satisfying scene, Xia Yu sensed the resentful energy within the Resentful Corpse completely dissipate, leaving her with mixed feelings.

Her thoughts grew even more complicated when she got a clear look at the room’s decor. Connecting it to all the potted plants she had seen, a sudden realization struck her: ’Don’t tell me this is the room where Nai’er’s husband was murdered?’

This...

’How ironic.’

SWOOSH.

The next moment, the Yin Corpse lunged forward.

Its speed was faster than an ordinary Mutated Beast’s, but it was far from matching a Red-eyed Mutant Beast.

Clearly, this was no threat to Xia Yu!

THUD.

She lashed out with a kick.

The Yin Corpse flew backward, slammed hard against the wall, and crashed to the ground. Feeling no pain, it was just about to attack again.

SLAP.

Little Flower latched onto its face.

Instantly.

Yin Qi began to surge into Little Flower.

The absorption rate was significantly faster than it had been back in the Ghost Village.

Little Flower conveyed a feeling of delight.

The Yin Corpse tried to tear Little Flower off, and Xia Yu prepared to intervene.

WHOOSH.

WHOOSH.

WHOOSH.

Three vines shot out, wrapping around the Yin Corpse’s limbs and immobilizing it.

’What a coincidence.’

’Since you’re so useful, I’ll let you live a little longer.’

Xia Yu stopped in her tracks.

「Ten minutes later.」

The third transformation’s completion progress reached 95%.

SWOOSH.

Xia Yu suddenly made her move, hacking through the Mutated Plant’s vines one by one. With the path clear, she charged toward its main stalk and dispatched it with ease.

Her movements were swift and practiced.

The whole process took no more than ten seconds.

Meanwhile.

The Yin Corpse was feebly slapping and scratching at Little Flower.

Unfortunately...

Having completed two transformations, Little Flower was no longer an ordinary ’human face.’ It was tougher than leather. In contrast, the Yin Qi within the Yin Corpse had been greatly reduced, causing its strength to plummet.

As one grew weaker and the other stronger,

the Yin Corpse couldn’t harm Little Flower even without the Mutated Plant restraining it.

This was also why Xia Yu had acted so decisively.

Another ten seconds passed.

The third transformation’s completion progress reached 97%, but at that very moment, something unexpected happened: for every subsequent percentage point, the amount of Yin Qi required doubled.

This sudden development was completely beyond Xia Yu’s expectations.

’It’s not going to be enough, is it?’

Her eyes narrowed, and she grew a little nervous.

98%!

99%!

At this point, the Yin Qi within the Yin Corpse was almost completely gone.

100%!

Fortunately, it succeeded in the end!

PHEW.

Xia Yu breathed a sigh of relief.

At that moment, the Yin Qi in the Yin Corpse was also completely drained.

She had underestimated the amount of Yin Qi required for the third transformation. The Yin Corpse’s energy hadn’t just come from the Yinfengs in the Different Dimension Space; a considerable portion had been newly generated from consuming human brains.

Lacking either source, there wouldn’t have been enough to complete Little Flower’s third transformation.

’The Yin Qi required for the fourth transformation will be even more massive.’

’Could it be three times this amount? Five times? Or even...?’

’Eight times?’

Given this experience, Xia Yu was being very conservative with her estimate.

SWOOSH.

Little Flower detached from the Yin Corpse and floated over to her.

Xia Yu gently stroked it. The surface was cool and smooth, and Little Flower’s ”skin” had become thinner. While not yet as thin as a cicada’s wing, it was getting close.

Furthermore, it had also become much tougher; ordinary sharp weapons could not harm it.

Most importantly...

SLAP.

Xia Yu placed it against her face.

Instantly, her originally gorgeous face began to change bit by bit, as if she were becoming another person.

She went to the bathroom and turned on her flashlight.

Gazing at the ’self’ in the mirror—now a tall, conventionally pretty woman—a corner of her mouth lifted in a satisfied smile.

After testing it for a while longer,

Xia Yu removed Little Flower and drew her conclusions: After its third transformation, Little Flower could create a significant change in its owner’s appearance when worn. The change was so convincing that even close family or people familiar with the owner’s face wouldn’t notice anything amiss. At first glance, someone might see a faint resemblance, but the more closely they looked, the less it seemed like the same person.

The Disguise looked completely natural.

It could now absorb Yin Qi simply by touching ghostly entities, which in turn harmed them. Its killing efficiency was now several times higher than before.

The amount of yang energy consumed not only didn’t increase, but actually decreased, allowing it to be worn for longer.

SWOOSH.

Little Flower wanted to return to the Jade Box.

”Wait a moment.”

Xia Yu walked out of the bathroom and went to Nai’er’s husband’s corpse. Looking at the handsome man before her, she said, ”Little Flower, now that you’ve completed your third transformation, you should be able to stick to a dead person’s face, right?”

Dead bodies gather Yin Qi.

They absorb it from their surroundings.

If Little Flower was placed on a dead person’s face, any Yin Qi it lost would be automatically absorbed by the corpse, and then that Yin Qi would be reabsorbed by Little Flower.

And so, the cycle would repeat.

Forming a closed loop.

Of course, it would be difficult for the Yin Qi to increase.

Because there would be a small loss of Yin Qi during the cycle.

Unless the corpse was exceptionally good at gathering Yin Qi.

Coincidentally.

For Nai’er’s husband to have become a Yin Corpse, he must have been a person with a Yin Life, meaning his body would be astonishingly effective at gathering Yin Qi.

SLAP.

The next moment, Little Flower attached itself to Nai’er’s husband’s face, actively stretching out to cover it completely.

Nai’er’s husband’s appearance changed slightly, like he’d had minor cosmetic surgery. It looked unnatural, even bizarre.

But that wasn’t important.

What mattered was that her theory was correct—it formed a ’self-sustaining cycle’. Moreover, the amount of Yin Qi within the loop wasn’t just stable; it was increasing!

The effect was remarkably good!

What she hadn’t expected was that Little Flower could even manipulate the corpse, making it perform simple actions like walking and waving a greeting!

’Not bad.’

’When Little Flower completes its fourth transformation, it will probably be able to control corpses with even greater skill.’

Xia Yu grew even more pleased with this outcome.

She was glad she hadn’t detonated a Crystal Core during the fight and destroyed the corpse.

In the dead of night, the air thick with the scent of blood, a corpse wearing someone else’s face smiles and waves at you. How utterly terrifying!

Even more terrifying, the corpse was actually generating resentful energy again!

’What?!’

The feedback from Little Flower startled Xia Yu. A rumor she’d heard in her past life surfaced in her mind: steeped in resentful energy, a corpse can become incorruptible, never to decay.

Even after a Resentful Corpse has its resentful energy dispelled, it can still automatically absorb resentful energy from other living beings and grow back into a Resentful Corpse.

’Should I find a chance to destroy it after this Mist Event is over?’

She muttered to herself.

The power of a Resentful Corpse was self-evident.

Once this corpse recovered to its Peak state, or even grew stronger, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Xia Yu’s initial instinct to destroy it was the correct one.

However, Little Flower strongly objected at this moment!

It was very satisfied with this corpse and hoped its master would let it keep it.

”Keep it?”

Xia Yu frowned and asked, ”Can you guarantee you’ll always be able to control it?”

If this Resentful Corpse could be made a member of her team, that would be an incredibly welcome development.

But she didn’t know the Corpse Nourishing Skill or the Corpse Control Technique; she was powerless to control a Resentful Corpse and could only rely on Little Flower.

If Little Flower couldn’t control it, then...

She absolutely would not keep a ticking time bomb by her side!
