I Return From Hell

Chapter 105: Chapter 98: The Hotel Incident Breaks Out

Jinlan International Hotel.

Outside the main entrance.

A huge commotion was underway.

Because...

The spectacle of someone blocking the entrance with a coffin was so shocking and sensational that it drew not only a crowd of passersby but also a few reporters with a keen nose for news.

Nai’er and her group had just arrived and set down the coffin.

The hotel immediately called the police and, at the same time, sent people to try and negotiate.

”What’s there to talk about? I just want some answers.”

Nai’er pulled out a speaker and microphone she had prepared, her voice carrying far. ”We were just a young couple, working hard for a living! Who did we ever hurt? SOB... I don’t want to live anymore!”

”If I don’t get justice today, I’m not leaving, even if it kills me!”

She was quite the firebrand.

”I heard her husband was tortured before he died. His body was covered in wounds.”

”This happened days ago. Hasn’t it been resolved yet?”

”I hear the hotel is very well-connected.”

”From what’s been officially released, the suspects are a man and a woman. My wild guess? Nai’er’s husband was cheating, and the male suspect killed him in a jealous rage.”

”Shh, don’t spread rumors. Let’s just wait for the official statement.”

The onlookers buzzed with discussion.

”On her livestream, Nai’er said her husband was really into VTC, that hot new virtual currency. She said she never paid attention to it and had no idea how much he made, but no matter how much VTC he had, it’s all gone now! Isn’t that weird?”

”He must have had a ton! This has to be a robbery-murder!”

”The surveillance cameras just happened to be broken on the day Nai’er’s husband died. What are the odds? Something’s definitely fishy.”

”Get this trending! Make the authorities pay attention! Justice for Nai’er!”

...

In the livestream chat, many viewers joined the discussion, sending virtual gifts to show their support!

They bought products from her livestream shop to support her!

Passions were running high!

The incident quickly went viral.

Xia Yu pulled over to the side of the road and parked, watching the scene unfold with a detached gaze. She had planned to head straight in, but a sudden, inexplicable feeling of unease made her pause.

The general information about this Mist Event surfaced in her mind:

Source of Danger: Yinfeng, Mutants, Mutated Beasts, Mutated Plants.

Danger Level: Sole Survivor.

Resources: Yinfeng. Not of the Ghost Clan, but can produce and carry Yin Qi.

If a sufficient number of Yinfeng appear this time, then... the Yin Qi within their bodies will be enough for Little Flower to complete its third transformation.

Once the third transformation is complete, Xia Yu can use Little Flower to change her appearance at will. This will allow her to operate without revealing her identity, freeing her from many constraints.

This matter was of the utmost importance to Xia Yu.

Additionally, the Yinfeng’s oral organ is extremely valuable. It can injure or even kill Spiritual Life, including the Ghost Clan!

’It’s a shame the hive won’t appear, so I can’t get any honey. If only I could...’

”There are no ’if onlys’.”

At a time like this, Xia Yu wouldn’t waste time considering things that wouldn’t happen.

Recalling her recent feeling of unease, she couldn’t help but wonder, ’With so many dangers in this Mist Event, how did that one survivor make it out alive?’

’Pure luck? Or... is there more to this person than meets the eye?’

She pondered for a moment but came to no conclusion.

’Anything is possible in a Mist Event. There’s no way to guess.’

Besides, the information she had on this Mist Event was only a rough outline, not entirely accurate.

’Instead of dwelling on this, I should just be extra careful once I’m in there.’

SWOOSH.

Thinking no more of it, Xia Yu finished parking and stealthily slipped into the hotel to scout the layout.

Some time later, the mist began to appear.

The people around started to notice something was wrong, yet no one left.

”The stream’s popularity just broke ten million!”

”Everything sold out! We’re adding new products now.”

”Shh. Keep your voice down. Sister Nai’er isn’t here to sell things, she’s here to demand justice. If she found out we were selling merchandise, she’d probably stop the stream right now.”

The two assistants behind Nai’er discussed in low voices, their eyes glinting with excitement.

Nai’er, oblivious to their conversation, was still locked in a heated argument with the hotel staff, her voice hoarse from shouting.

Soon.

The signal cut out.

The two assistants were instantly furious. For the connection to drop at a time like this meant a massive loss.

But after trying to fix it for a long time to no avail, they had no choice but to inform Nai’er.

”What’s going on?”

Nai’er frowned. ”Can’t you even handle something this simple?” she demanded.

The two assistants panicked.

They were afraid of being fired.

”My phone has no service! What’s going on? Useless LT.”

”I don’t have service either! DX is trash these days, too.”

”Babe, I don’t feel good. Help me.”

”Shh, keep it down. Getting frisky at a time like this... there are people all around. Wait until we get home.”

...

The mist completely enveloped the area.

The lights went out, plunging everything into darkness.

Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power poured in.

The mutations began.

Xia Yu had already hidden herself away in a presidential suite. The windows were sealed tight. She gazed down at the agitated crowd below and said calmly, ”It’s starting.”

’I wonder if Xia Hongchun and his group are here.’

At least three hundred people were caught in the Mist Event. From her vantage point, all she could see was a dense sea of heads. It was impossible to make out any faces, and with the sky now dark, it would be difficult to spot Xia Hongchun’s group at a glance.

Her gaze fell upon the black coffin, and an uncomfortable feeling stirred within her.

’Why?’

’Is it because I saw a similar black coffin back at the Ghost Village?’

’Or is it something else?’

’The body has been stored for several days. The deceased is completely brain-dead, so there’s no possibility of them becoming a Mutant.’

Xia Yu frowned in thought, but before she could consider it further—

”ROAR!”

The first Mutant appeared.

The slaughter began.

WHOOSH.

At the same time, dozens of black shadows swooped down from the sky.

One of them flew down, brushing against the glass in front of Xia Yu.

She got a relatively clear look at it: it greatly resembled a yellow-collared flower bee, only it was pitch-black all over. Its oral organ was as sharp as a long needle, and its body was massive—more than twenty times the size of an ordinary honeybee.

’There are enough Yinfeng.’

’Enough for Little Flower to complete its third transformation.’

CLICK.

A glint flashed in Xia Yu’s eyes. A pistol had appeared in her palm at some point. She racked the slide, pulled out the Jade Box, and released Little Flower.

Sensing the Yin Qi from the Yinfeng, Little Flower conveyed its excitement.

”Not yet.”

Xia Yu said coolly.

’There are too many Mutants, not to mention the Mutated Beasts and Mutated Plants. I can’t take them all on.’

’The Yinfeng are incredibly fast, far more aggressive than the Mutants. I’m no match for one in an open space, let alone dozens of them.’

’So, the best plan right now is to let the Mutants and the Yinfeng fight it out. I’ll just swoop in and reap the rewards.’

”Ah! Help me! Can anyone save me?”

”Run! Find a place to hide! Hide!”

”Honey, don’t be afraid, I’m here! I’ll protect you! AHH... Honey, save me! Save me!”

...

At first, there was little conflict between the Mutants and the Yinfeng, as there was an abundance of ’prey’ for everyone. They could all get a bite without having to fight for it.

Humans were the only victims.

But as time passed, the number of living people dropped sharply.

Only five minutes had passed.

Fewer than ten people remained alive outside the hotel.

This small number of survivors were all killed within the span of three breaths.

Of course, a small number of people had already used the chaos to rush into the hotel or hide under and inside cars, clinging to life for the moment.

”ROAR!”

”BUZZ!”

...

The battle between the Mutants and the Yinfeng finally erupted in full.

”BANG!”

A gunshot rang out.
