I’m really just an NPC

Chapter 3 Some functions of the player are still available

[You get crossbow +1]

Lin Fan wiped the recovered crossbow bolts on the fat man’s body to dry the blood, and continued to grope with his hand.

[You get money: Wang’s consortium issues banknotes of 3404 yuan]

”Hey, he’s still a rich fat man.”

Lin Fan held a handful of banknotes in his hand, and subconsciously his heart moved. The banknotes in his hand disappeared, and a message was displayed on the system panel.

[Aquamarine common currency +3404]

”Hey, although the template displayed in my panel is NPC, some functions of the player system are still there?”

In the game ”Wasteland Rising”, there are many types of currencies. Different organizations and forces issue their own currency systems. Exchanges between them are very cumbersome, and a large amount of handling fees are charged, which is not suitable for players’ game style of roaming around the entire map.

In order to enhance the game experience, the player’s system has the function of converting currencies without handling fees. It can convert various currencies into universal currencies and store them on the system panel. When needed, physical currencies can be embodied for consumption.

However, in order to restrict players from earning commissions as brokers, players can only consume physical currency that circulates in the area where a certain faction belongs.

For example, Lin Fan is currently in the territory of the Wang Consortium, and can only display the banknotes issued by the Wang Consortium through the system.

If he went to the sphere of influence of other consortiums, or went to other planets, he would no longer be able to manifest the currency issued by the Wang consortium.

Of course, it is purely voluntary for the player whether to convert it into a common currency and store it in the system panel. If you are willing to wander around with a lot of banknotes on your back, that is up to you.

But you need to bear the risk of not having any paper money left when you die and resurrect.

The death penalty in ”Rise of the Wasteland” is very serious. If you can escape and resurrect the corpse without damage, you will only lose a lot of experience.

But if your body is nowhere to be found, or if the body is searched for everything...

Sorry, in addition to losing a lot of experience, all you have left is the general currency on the panel and the items in the storage space, and some of these items will also explode based on the probability of real-time calculations.

By the way, the currency cannot be put into the storage space after it is realized.

Thinking of this, Lin Fan’s heart moved again, the pistol in his hand disappeared instantly, and the next moment, the pistol reappeared in his hand.

”Great, the player-specific storage space is also there.”

This is really good news for Lin Fan, who inexplicably traveled to the game ”Wasteland Rising”.

At this moment, Lin Fan’s body swayed and he almost fell down: ”Oh no, I just traveled through time and a piece of memory will pop up in my mind soon. I need to find a safe place to rest and clear my head as soon as possible.” It’s all about the confused memories.”

As soon as this idea emerged, another memory fragment appeared in his mind. This memory fragment contained a dilapidated house, which was the original owner Lin Fan’s home in this world.

Lin Fan was certain that that was his temporary foothold.

Before leaving, Lin Fan glanced at Wang Dalong’s body, frowned, then shrugged helplessly, and said in his heart: ”It’s too difficult to drag such a fat man away and hide it, so let’s just ignore it.”

According to Lin Fan’s memory, in version 1.0 of ”Rise of the Wasteland”, murders in the inner city and outer city controlled by the consortium were still taken seriously, and the handling methods were swift and resolute, and they were good at killing chickens to scare monkeys.

But Wang Dalong’s death was purely due to the impulsive killing of the original owner, Lin Fan. Even Wang Dalong didn’t understand why Lin Fan wanted to kill him at first. In addition, there are no witnesses and lack of investigative clues.

In the era of highly developed society, some murder cases were difficult to solve. Lin Fan thought that it was impossible to find him in the inner city.

Thinking of this, Lin Fan turned his head and prepared to leave.

Gollum~
hungry!
At this moment, Lin Fan’s stomach growled suddenly, hunger swept his whole body instantly, and his eyes subconsciously fell on the corpse of the mutated mouse on the ground.

”How about taking a mouse home and cooking it for meat?”

The memory fragments Lin Fan obtained just now told him that there was no meat in the house, only a piece of hard and unpalatable black bread.

”No, if you take the mouse home, blood will drip all the way. Isn’t this an initiative to send clues to others? The risk of exposure is too great, and the loss outweighs the gain.” Lin Fan vetoed this idea rationally.

”It’s a pity that the storage space is too small now, it can’t hold the dead mouse, and there is no money to upgrade the space.” Lin Fan shook his head, ready to leave.

But at this moment, Lin Fan felt something in his heart. He raised his head and looked into the distance, only to see more than a dozen pairs of red eyes looming in the grass.

Those are mutant mice.

”Gan, did I poke a rat’s nest!?”

Lin Fan’s heart trembled, he gathered his strength, spread his legs, turned around and ran along the brick road towards the outer city.

The dozen or so mutated mice chased after them with all their might, but stopped when they reached Wang Dalong’s corpse.

Bacha, Kacha~
The next moment, there were dense chewing sounds from Wang Dalong’s body...

……

Dirty~
Ten minutes later, the engine of the motorcycle sounded, and a three-person patrol found the tragic scene.

The tall and thin patrolling soldier immediately grabbed the walkie-talkie: ”Captain, Captain, the fifth team of the patrol found a murder case. It is suspected that a mutant mouse attacked humans. The deceased was a resident of the inner city...”

After 5 minutes, a group of people had gathered at the scene of the crime.

Wang Dalong’s body was no longer human-shaped, only a head with white bones exposed and blood all over the place remained.

The corpses of the mutated mice that Lin Fan had killed also disappeared. Bloodstains criss-crossed the ground and disappeared into deep caves at the end.

A soldier who searched the scene reported: ”Captain, five shell casings were found, but no gun was found.”

The captain pouted at the hole on the left: ”The gun probably went into the ground with the body fragments. And guns are not allowed in our area. Even people from outside the city can buy them for hunting if they are willing to spend money. Don’t waste your energy.” On these pointless things.”

The soldier immediately stood at attention: ”The captain is right!”

”Has the identity of the deceased been confirmed?”

”It’s confirmed, it’s Wang Dalong, the manager of the brick kiln factory.”

The captain frowned: ”Wang Huhu, his son?”

”Yes.”

The captain grinned: ”I told you that Wang Laohu has been doing evil all his life and there will be nothing to gain. No, he just died more than three years ago, and his son also followed him. If he dies, just die. A small manager is nothing.”

The captain had a feud with Wang Huo, and watching Wang Huo lose his children and grandchildren, somehow, it was a bit of a pleasure!
The soldier did not dare to answer the question and changed the subject: ”Captain, how can this matter be determined? Does it need to be reported to the superior?”

The captain’s face straightened: ”The mutated mouse took the initiative to attack the murder case! This is a major event and must be reported.”

The soldier was puzzled, didn’t he just say it was nothing? !
The captain glared: ”It’s not a big deal if Wang Dalong dies, but it’s a big deal if a mutated rat dares to attack humans! How many years have you been an inner city soldier?”

The soldier answered honestly: ”Three years.”

”Three years, you happened to miss the last rat wave outbreak. The rat wave three and a half years ago also started with mutant mice actively attacking humans. Counting up ten years, the first rat wave that our inner city experienced , It also started from the mutated mice actively attacking humans.”

The captain continued to arrange, ”Notify the brothers. When people from the outer city come to fetch water tomorrow morning, count whether anyone was actively attacked by mutant rats last night. If there is, the rat tide is short for three to five days, and long.” In half a month, it will definitely explode.”

After finishing speaking, the captain got into the patrol car on the side and drove back to the inner city. It seemed that he was going to report the matter overnight.

The soldier stood there, stunned.

Rat tide...

During the rat wave three and a half years ago, although he hadn’t been a soldier yet, he, a resident of the inner city, was also greatly threatened by the mutant rats.

Hundreds of soldiers in the inner city died, and even more were disabled. Wang Dalong’s father, Wang Huhu, died at that time, and his death was miserable.

It is said that the damage in the outer city was even more serious, with tens of thousands of people dead.

As for the first rat tide, the soldiers were still young at that time and don’t have much memory, but they remember that both the inner and outer cities paid a heavy price.

Thinking of this, the soldier shuddered and secretly thought that he must practice his marksmanship in the past two days. Then he would shoot more rats to increase his chance of survival.

It never occurred to him that this kind of temporary cramming would be of any use.
