His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2414: Chapter 688: Return (6)

Qin Mingzhu finally left, and Qin Mu didn’t want to stay downstairs anymore, so she went back to the bedroom to sleep.

Mu Yichen finished cleaning up the kitchen, came out and saw that there was no one on the sofa, guessing she’d gone upstairs, but the hot water bottle was still on the sofa.

The weather outside was still gloomy. These past two days it was always like this—either gloomy in the morning and clearing up in the afternoon, or the other way around.

Half an hour later, Qin Mu was lying on the bed, about to fall asleep, when she felt a sudden warmth on her legs and woke up a bit: ”Thanks!”

Mu Yichen didn’t say anything, just watched her, and then...

When Qin Mu lifted her eyes, she suddenly realized that right in front of her was a gray warm wall.

”Since you’re thanking me, put some sincerity into it.”

Mu Yichen spoke as he lifted the quilt and covered himself with it too.

Qin Mu immediately tried to spring up, but he pinned her down under the covers.

”Look at the state you’re in, where are you trying to run off to? We’re just going to sleep, that’s all.”

Just purely sleep, that’s all.

Qin Mu thought about it—her period had taken full possession of her; it really was just sleeping, so she stopped moving, but her heartbeat suddenly sped up and went all irregular.

Later she didn’t even know how it happened; she fell asleep in his arms, feeling especially warm, especially secure, especially...

Mu Yichen felt her breathing become even. He lowered his gaze a little, and, unable to help himself, lightly kissed her once—on the forehead.

Then he realized her forehead seemed a bit too hot, and pressed his own forehead against hers.

”You really are something, woman...”

Mu Yichen immediately sat up again. Not long after, he came back with water and medicine, woke her up, letting her lean against his shoulder: ”You’ve got a fever, take the medicine.”

”A fever? I don’t want medicine, I want to sleep!”

Qin Mu was groggy with sleep; how could she be willing to take medicine? Unable to lie back down, she squirmed restlessly in his arms.

Mu Yichen looked at her, both exasperated and amused: ”Take the medicine, or I don’t mind making sure you can’t get back to sleep at all.”

The threat worked. She grumbled twice, complaining that he was bullying her, and then took the medicine.

Mu Yichen laid her back down, then slipped an arm around her and dozed for a while with her.

He wanted to be this close to her when she was awake, but he didn’t know how much longer he had to hold back.

But about her fever, Mu Yichen frowned, thinking: you said you were going to eat with Lun Yun, yet you went home instead, and later where did you end up smoking some man’s cigarette?

And now you’ve got a fever again...

——

After four in the afternoon, he went to school to pick up Chengcheng. The Mu Family’s car was parked at the intersection, but when he got out, he didn’t even look that way.

Once Feng Fanghua heard he had arrived, she slung her handbag over her arm, got out of the car, and strutted over to his side: ”I heard your dad say that for a while now you haven’t planned on letting me see the children?”

”Your health isn’t great either, you should focus on taking care of yourself.”

Mu Yichen gave her a glance, feeling a bit suffocated inside, but he couldn’t say anything too harsh.

”My health isn’t great? What’s wrong with my health? Isn’t it just that my back hurts sometimes? The grandkids are all big now, I don’t need to carry them. You’re using this as an excuse to block me, aren’t you? Did that girl Qin Mu say something to you?”

The more Feng Fanghua thought about it, the more off it felt. Qin Mu had been utterly aggrieved that night; maybe she couldn’t hold back and complained to Mu Yichen afterwards.

”Mom, does saying all this make sense to you? Who she is—does anyone in the Mu Family not know?”

Mu Yichen looked at her and questioned her, his eyes cold, as if mother and son really had split apart.

”With that attitude talking to me, what do you expect me to think? If it weren’t for her filling your head with all kinds of nonsense...”

”All these years, she has never said a single unpleasant word about you in front of me. You should understand what that means by now, right?”

Mu Yichen was angry. Hearing the door at the gate open, he was about to leave.

”Mu Yichen, you...”

”For the time being, let’s not trouble you with the kids. Go on home.”

Mu Yichen’s voice was indifferent, but Feng Fanghua understood he was dead set on not letting her see the children. With a breath stuck in her chest, she turned and left.

A grandmother of another child had just wanted to go over and greet Feng Fanghua. Seeing her get into the car, she didn’t chase after her, but still felt like something wasn’t quite right.

Mu Yichen picked up Chengcheng, then went to get Huanhuan. When Huanhuan saw her dad and her little brother at the school gate, she happily ran over with her backpack on her shoulders.

Her backpack was a bit heavy, so Mu Yichen took it off her shoulder for her. Huanhuan climbed into the back seat and sat down properly. Mu Yichen, used to it, put her bag away for her, then got in the car and drove off.

”Daddy, is Mommy feeling any better?”
