Eternal Thief

Chapter 1646: Abyssal Mirage Dice

Ace absentmindedly looked at the interface in front of him with disbelief because just the sheer amount of thief points he had from this Discretionary Mission was more than any amount of thief points he had ever gotten or even spent, as a matter of fact.

’Pixy didn’t lie to me! I’ve already recovered more than six times what I’ve spent! Moreover, with this many Thief Points, I can finally raise my bloodline grade without any worry about not having enough to spare!’

Ace’s eyes shone with ecstasy as he looked towards the other rewards, and his heart raced with mirth because every reward was useful for him, not to mention some of them could become his strongest trump cards and life-preserving treasures.

Especially, the False Heaven Corpse Puppet Talismans and the Void Spirit Rebirth Pill can be used in life-or-death situations.

Without hesitation, Ace claimed every reward, the knowledge of Limitless Stealing Steps, and Eyes of Hollow Thief flooded in his mind while the Primordial Talismans and Primordial Pills appeared in his thief’s space’s non-living treasure section.

As for the new thief title, Discretionary Thief, it was a passive ability, so Ace didn’t need to be worried about it too much.

Lastly, after absorbing all the information about the spells and gaining proficiency at their early levels, he excitedly opened the system shop to check the final reward!

After all, it had been a while since the system had placed another treasure in his shop, not to mention he had a feeling that this treasure gained from the random reward system of the Discretionary Mission might give him a pleasant surprise.

’A forbidden grade right from the get-go? And it costs one billion thief points? What kind of treasure is this?’ Ace was astounded and even more curious.

If it were before, he would’ve cursed the system for being unreasonable to set up such a high price, but since he had just earned generous rewards and a massive amount of Thief Points from the Discretionary Mission, without hesitation, he bought the Abyssal Mirage Dice!

[Primordial Treasure: Abyssal Mirage Dice]

-Grade: Abyssal/Ascension Grade-10 (Forbidden Grade)

-Description (1): A forbidden probability-type primordial treasure born from distorted Fate Laws and Mirage Laws deep within the Abyssal Void.

-Description (2): The Abyssal Mirage Dice does not possess spirituality, consciousness, or a treasure spirit, making it impossible to predict, corrupt, negotiate with, or fully control. It exists as a pure embodiment of uncertain destiny.

-Condition(s) to Activate: The Abyssal Mirage Dice can only be activated by casting the die before a theft, infiltration, escape operation, deception scheme, or any action classified as ’thievery’ by the Laws of Fortune and Misfortune.

-Rule(s) of Abyssal Mirage Dice:

-1: Once the die is cast, the dice generates a random number between 1 and 99 written in the Language of Ancient Gods, and depending on the outcome, Fortune and Misfortune will be accumulated simultaneously.

-2. The higher the number above 50, the greater the favorable distortion of fate.

-3. The lower the number below 50, the greater the catastrophic backlash hidden within destiny.

-4. The number ’50’ represents absolute balance and produces no gain or loss.

-5. The dice cannot directly alter absolute laws, but they can subtly interfere with probability, perception, the flow of causality, enemy judgment, hidden opportunities, and unforeseen accidents.

-6. The stronger the involved fate or karmic interference, the more terrifying the backlash can become.

-Passive Ability(s):

-1: Fortune like Misfortune

-Effect: The Abyssal Mirage Dice can be cast once every 24 hours without any consequence, and once it is cast, a corresponding amount of ’Fortune’ or ’Misfortune’ is accumulated depending on whether the resulting number is above or below 50.

-Numbers 51-99: Accumulate Fortune Value as the higher the number, the greater the Fortune accumulated.

-Numbers 1-49: Accumulate Misfortune Value. The lower the number, the more terrifying the Misfortune accumulated.

-Number 50: Absolute equilibrium where no Fortune or Misfortune is gained.

-Special Effect: Fate Resonance

-Fate Resonance of Fortune: Repeated high Fortune accumulation increases synchronization between the Host and Mirage Fate Laws, allowing reality distortions during thefts to become smoother and more natural.

-Fate Resonance of Misfortune: Repeated Misfortune accumulation may cause Fate Instability around the Host, creating strange anomalies even outside of theft operations.

-Active Ability(s):

-1. Mirage Gamble

-Effect: The Host can wager all currently accumulated Fortune and Misfortune to forcibly trigger an impossible outcome. Thus, the Abyssal Mirage Dice will then cast a Judgment Roll between 1 and 99.

-Results Above 50: The higher the number, the more terrifying the favorable outcome becomes.

-Results Below 50: The lower the number, the more catastrophic the backlash becomes.

-Result 50: The gamble nullifies, and all accumulated Fortune and Misfortune are erased without effect.

-Cooldown: 99 Days

-Warning: Mirage Gamble interferes with forbidden Fate Sequences of [Natural Order]. Excessive use may attract unknown entities, ancient laws, or hidden observers sensitive to probability distortions.

-Special NOTE: The Abyssal Mirage Dice is incapable of possessing spirituality, loyalty, consciousness, or treasure resonance. Even Heaven’s Will cannot fully predict its outcomes.

Ace’s eyes went wide with shock and disbelief when he saw the profound yet straightforward description of the Abyssal Mirage Dice, especially the last part about how even Heaven’s Will cannot fully predict its outcome.

’Is this really just a forbidden grade treasure in the law state? Why do I feel like it’s even more powerful than Moira?’ Ace thought with a hint of uncertainty.

After all, even though the Abyssal Mirage Dice only have two abilities, one passive and one active, both of them were extremely powerful depending on their outcome.

Moreover, the Abyssal Mirage Dice seemed to be specifically made for thieves or, more specifically, Heaven’s Stealers, like himself, to the point that it could be an exclusive inheritance of Heaven’s Stealers.

But there were simply too many uncertainties when using this unpredictable primordial treasure, which, as its description notes, can be impossible to predict, corrupt, or negotiate with.

Even if Ace feels like he was very lucky most of the time, he didn’t dare to imagine what would’ve happened if he weren’t lucky, and unknowingly drew some calamity upon himself.

More importantly, the final warning issued by the system was a powerful deterrent for Ace from using this treasure recklessly.

But despite all the odds, the inner thief within Ace couldn’t hold back, and with a solemn yet deviant look in his eyes, he muttered just like any gambler, ”I’ll only try this once!”
