Emperor’s Domination

“Mortal death.” Li Qiye said: “This vine came from his body and was planted here.”

“So our ancestor was indeed First Vine… First Vine.” She murmured.

“Was there any doubt?” Li Qiye smiled.

She realized her words were improper because the clan had always believed First Vine was their progenitor. Nevertheless, skepticism was always there due to the opinions of the outsiders.

Moreover, they didn’t have the remnant resources of an overlord, not to mention a lack of verifiable evidence.

Now, she believed Li Qiye despite his ordinary nature. She seemed to be spellstruck and believed his casual statement.

“Progenitor First Vine.” She was ecstatic before asking: “Can you tell me more about this mortal death?”

“You can view it as a mortal dying from old age. Otherwise, he could have still lived a long time despite the unhealed injuries.” Li Qiye said.

She paused for a moment before replying: “Then, our progenitress was an actual human.”

They also believed in the romantic legend despite the unlikelihood of an overlord falling in love with a female mortal.

“Only your progenitor knows.” Li Qiye said: “You all might view him as an overlord but she might have thought differently.”

“Why is that?” She was surprised.

“Because in her eyes, he was just like her. Perhaps she had no idea what an overlord was.” Li Qiye said.

She contemplated the scenario – if she were a mortal, then how did they first meet? They couldn’t have come together if he had appeared as an imperious overlord. All mortals had no choice but to kneel before the suppressive aura.

Therefore, he must have taken on the form of a mortal. This was the start of their romance, lasting until their death.

In her eyes, he was a loving husband supporting her through thick and thin. However, from his perspective, he was once a peerless being wielding power over the realms. He could live for millions and millions of years. All things were nothing but dust before him.

Alas, he chose to die a mortal death with old age, suppressing his cultivation. What kind of love and emotion could have made an overlord do this willingly?

She couldn’t imagine what kind of life the couple had lived and his various mindsets before deciding to pass.

“Everlasting love.” She realized. Perhaps this phrase didn’t signify the length of time but rather the feeling of happiness once content.

“The dao is arduous and long but one warm heart was enough. Your progenitor found his answer.” Li Qiye said.

“I see.” She nodded, still at a loss for words. Once she connected the dots, she spoke: “So our clan started as a mortal clan.”

“Although he didn’t leave any treasure behind, he passed down his bloodline to all of you. For example, your lightning bloodline.” Li Qiye said.

“Lightning bloodline?” She raised her voice, utterly confused.

“You failed to become a pseudo-emperor and your dao was cut down. Do you know why?” Li Qiye asked.

“My dao foundation was not solid enough so when I tried to break through, it couldn’t handle the immense influx of power and shattered.” She sighed softly and said: “I was too hasty with my training.”

She felt disheartened but had already come to terms with reality. This wasn’t the case at the start because she was the most talented in the clan, always finding success with cultivation.

Alas, she did not anticipate that at the critical moment, her dao foundation couldn’t withstand the next realm. It cracked and caused her cultivation to plummet.

For someone who only knew success, the meteoric fall devastated her.
