885  Chapter 885:- Laura’s Problem

“To be honest, I couldn’t find anything wrong with her body.” Julia looked frustrated. This might be the first time in her alchemy career that she has met a dead end.

“Yes!! Her body is deteriorating. I have found evidence of her organs slowly deteriorating.”

“And If this phenomenon continues, then even though she is immortal, her body will become old, and she will die of old age.” Julia felt that even calling her immortal at this point was wrong. While she retained her powers, her body was aging and growing old, and that was also happening very rapidly. “Right now, her organs and every part of her body are rapidly deteriorating. If this process continues and nothing is done about it, then within the next 7 to 9 months, she will look like a 90-year-old fragile woman.”

“This means she will experience various symptoms of old age that mortals experience. For example, hair turning grey, wrinkles, the body growing weaker, and many other things.”

“How can a simple headache cause all of this?” Kate just couldn’t understand why this was happening. Just a few months back, Lady Laura was healthy and at the peak of her power.

“Julia, maybe if you keep trying, then you might find something.” After all, she never was able to identify the cause of Lara’s illness from the beginning. It took her time, trial, and error to find the root of the problem. But Julia shook her head.

“It’s completely different from Lara’s case. With Lara, I found clues that helped me figure out where to look and how to move forward.”

“But with Laura, it’s not the same. I’ve hit a complete dead end. There’s nothing—no clue, no path to follow. When I examined her body, all I found were the symptoms of rapid aging, but what was causing it? I have no idea. There’s nothing that points to what might be triggering this accelerated aging.”

“I can give her potions and pills to slow down the process, but her body is quickly adapting to them. Each time, I have to use stronger doses just to make the medicine effective. At best, I can only delay the rapid aging by another 5 to 6 months.”

“This means even with my pills and potions, Laura has about 12 to 14 months to live.” But Kate wasn’t willing to accept this. “And this is just the beginning. From my earlier diagnosis, I’ve already noticed signs of her strength decreasing. In a few more months, even though she is a peak, fifth-order cultivator, her strength will drop to the level of peak fourth-order, and it will only continue to decrease.” Towards the end, she might not even have the strength to lift her own arms. But Julia did not say it out loud.

Everyone in the room was already worried; there was no need to add more tension.

Everyone in the laboratory became silent. At this point, what else to do? Even the goddess of alchemy cannot find any problem with her body.

“It’s not like I’m admitting that there is no problem with her body. There is clearly some problem with her body, even though I cannot find it.”

For a few minutes, no one said anything. Kate looked very frustrated and disappointed. She came here with the hope of getting her Lady healed, but even the Goddess of Alchemy could not help her. ‘There has to be something that can help Lady Laura?’ Kate began to look around the same, but then she spotted a green herb on the wooden table. 19:17

‘Herb…..!! The Strongest Herb…Yes, the Dragon Grass….’ While coming here, Aditya told her that it was a potion made from the extract of Dragon Grass that healed her and brought her back to life. “If her body is fine, maybe the problem lies deeper, somewhere where you cannot see.” Lilith, who has been silent the entire time, said uncertainly. Hearing Lilith’s words, Rin’s eyes lit up. “Maybe it’s not her body. Maybe it’s something else.” Everyone looked at her. “It’s possible that it’s her soul.” She was excited by this discovery. “If the Soul is damaged, it could physically damage the body,” Riya added. She had seen such cases before. Unfortunately, she did not have the power to heal souls. “Let me check!!!” Riya stepped forward and held Laura’s left wrist. The Goddess closed her eyes. Not even two seconds had passed when Riya immediately sensed something was wrong with her soul. Her face became serious as she opened her eyes. “It’s her soul!!” Although she couldn’t treat souls or interact with them, at least she could sense the souls of the people whom she touched. “What’s wrong with her soul?” Kate asked in an anxious tone. After all, the soul was the most fragile, sensitive, and complicated part of one’s body. On top of that, not that much is known about the soul. “I cannot tell.” Riya shook her head. “When I touch someone, I can sense their souls. But it’s not like I can see the shape and color of the soul.” “If I had to explain it, it’s like trying to sense the wind while your eyes are closed. You can’t see the wind, but you can feel it brushing against your skin, subtle and invisible. But in my case, it doesn’t move like the wind—it feels more like a flame.”

“For strong cultivators, this flame burns brightly, powerful, and full of life. For weaker mortals, especially those nearing death, it’s small and faint, like a candle struggling to stay lit.”

“The challenge is that I can’t actually see this flame. I can only sense it, much like how you feel the wind without ever truly seeing it.” “And if I had to describe Laura’s soul, it’s obviously weaker. The souls of Peak 5th-order cultivators aren’t that weak. Her soul is as strong as a Peak 2nd-order cultivator. As for why it’s so small, even I am not sure.” This was the limit of her powers. “Then let me help!!” Rin stepped forward and held Laura’s other wrist. •••

Spiritual World,

“Where am I?” Kate found herself on a small island surrounded by water. It was a flat green island with grasses growing everywhere.

“This is the spiritual word.” Kate saw Rin and everyone else on the island. “Where am I?” It was Laura. Laura relaxed upon seeing familiar faces. Seeing a new face, Laura approached her. “You must be the Goddess of Music.” Rin nodded her head. “It’s nice to meet you. I am Rin Tatsuki.”

“I am Laura.” “Lady Laura…..!!” “What is it?” “Please look down….!!” Even Kate herself looked shocked. When she looked down, she saw that 70% of her body was vertically missing. Only the left side of her body could be seen. The only thing that wasn’t missing in half was her face. “What the…..?” Laura was in shock. She did not even feel anything wrong with her body until Kate pointed at her. “In the spiritual world, only souls can exist.” “So, what we are seeing is Laura’s soul.” “But that does not make sense.” Riya looked at Rin. “From my experience, if the soul is even slightly damaged, then the person might become paralyzed or lose the ability to speak or even fall into a coma state. But none of that has ever happened to Laura. She was completely fine up until a few months ago.” “Even I am confused about this part,” Rin said with a helpless smile. She wasn’t a soul expert, so she couldn’t really explain what was wrong with Laura. “Clearly, the missing part of her soul isn’t affecting Laura; otherwise, she wouldn’t have survived this long.” Julia pointed it out. “Let’s assume that Laura is an exception. But the question is, where is her remaining soul?” Rin asked the most obvious question that everyone wanted to know. “Clearly, whatever Laura is experiencing right now is because of missing about 70% of her soul.”

“Isn’t there anything that can help her?” Kate sounded desperate while Laura remained silent. “She looked like she had accepted her fate. From her extensive knowledge, she knew her chances of living more than a year were zero. There was more chance of finding a single grain of gold in an endless desert than her chances of surviving.”

“Maybe there is!!” However, in reality, Riya did not want to shatter Kate and Laura’s hopes and expectations. “We will need to do our research.” In other words, Riya did not know of any item or anything anything that was capable of helping Laura at the moment. “We will need to find her missing soul.” Without needing to say it, everyone understood that this was the toughest part. After all, Laura did not have any memories of her childhood. She was found in the Deep Sea Palace by an old man. The old man raised her. “We will need to know more of Laura’s past.” —————-
