Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 2183: Chapter 2181: Amazed Beyond Measure! (Ben Cat Decides to Abandon Flesh and Ascend Mechanically)

It turned out that in China, Fang Zheng’s words had a blow-back effect of +1000, directly hitting Kindaichi so hard that he coughed up blood and couldn’t retort. There was no helping it; after all, during introductions, he only mentioned he was a high school student, not a detective. Given that people see him as a part-time police officer, it’s normal to not involve kids in an investigation…

But for Kindaichi, this was just too frustrating.

For Fang Zheng, the case ended there, but unexpectedly, the aftermath was even more thrilling.

Afterward, Officer Li Bo led a search team to Commander Yang’s old home. Just as expected, they found a large amount of foreign currency and a diary in a cabinet in Commander Yang’s room. The diary recorded Commander Yang’s criminal transactions—just as Fang Zheng had suspected, the acrobat troupe was merely a front. In fact, Commander Yang was collaborating with the troupe’s advisor, Todo Sosuke, engaging in the business of theft and smuggling foreign cars!

They used the overseas performances of the acrobat troupe as a cover, sneaking in Japan to steal vehicles, then secretly shipping them onto a boat, bringing them back to China to sell at high prices for profit.

Upon receiving the information, the police swiftly apprehended Todo Sosuke. However, perhaps realizing his own predicament, he thought it better to drag others down with him instead of dying alone and divulged another accomplice—the troupe’s star performer, Tang Renmei!

In fact, Tang Renmei was also a member of the acrobat troupe. Initially, she was just an ordinary acrobat, but later, because she accidentally discovered Commander Yang’s and Todo’s illegal dealings, she was drawn into the mess, becoming Todo Sosuke’s mistress.

But surprisingly, perhaps due to resentment towards Todo for pulling her down, Tang Renmei revealed a big secret during interrogation—that ten years ago, they killed someone!

This revelation shocked everyone.

Back then, three of them went to steal a car, but were caught and stopped by the car owner. As they tried to avoid him, they hit and killed the owner. To prevent being discovered, Commander Yang and Todo Sosuke burned the body and dumped it in the wild.

This was a murder case, and a cross-national one at that!

So the Chinese police immediately sent a joint investigation notice to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Soon, they responded with information. Coincidentally, a recent Japanese variety show demonstrated how to reconstruct a victim’s appearance, and at the time, they restored the original look of a body that was burned to death ten years ago.

Soon, someone called in, claiming to know about this case and provided detailed descriptions of the suspects’ identities. In fact, the Japanese police were just planning to search for Todo!

With solid evidence, the search was skipped, and they were taken straight to jail.

But what startled everyone even more was that after learning of Todo and Tang Renmei’s confession, the detained Yang Liling spoke up. It turned out she was not a Chinese person; in fact, she was the daughter of the victim killed by Commander Yang and his team ten years ago!

According to Yang Liling, originally named Chie Nishimura, her father had gone to buy her a drink. To playfully surprise him, she hid in the back cargo of the truck. Unexpectedly, Commander Yang and his team stole the vehicle, and she personally witnessed the trio hitting and killing her father before discarding his body.

Afterward, due to extreme shock, Chie Nishimura fainted, and when she woke up again, she found herself in China. Upon discovering her, Commander Yang was shocked but seemed to believe Chie Nishimura knew nothing. He took her to his village, while Chie Nishimura pretended to have lost her memory, starting anew with the name Yang Liling.

In fact, before Commander Yang’s suicide, Chie Nishimura had been planning revenge with a detailed crime plan. However, to her surprise, before she could act, Commander Yang committed suicide.

Upon seeing Commander Yang’s body, Chie Nishimura thought her chance had come, intending to fabricate the scene, hide the gun, and make it appear as murder. This way, with an alibi, she could escape police suspicion, then kill Todo Sosuke and Tang Renmei, disguising it as suicide to return to Japan…

Hmm, nice idea, but unfortunately, she was knocked down by Fang Zheng just as she got started.

At first, everyone already felt the plot had enough ups and downs, but surprisingly, at this moment the student named Shiho Nishimura stood up and declared — she is Yang Liling, Chie Nishimura’s older sister!

This left everyone not just startled — well, more than just surprised.

According to Shiho Nishimura, when she was young, her parents divorced. Shiho lived with her mother, while Chie lived with her father. Later, her father disappeared, and her sister also vanished. Then, a year ago, by chance, Shiho Nishimura attended an acrobat troupe show and noticed Yang Liling, who astonishingly looked just like her mother in her youth. Shiho suspected Yang Liling might be her missing sister, but she couldn’t fathom how her sister became a Chinese person. So she enrolled as a student at the acrobat troupe, secretly investigating Yang Liling’s true identity…

This series of plots was intricately woven, captivating, and full of unexpected twists, leaving not only Fang Zheng and Officer Li Bo shocked but completely absorbing Akemi and Little Ai, to the extent that over the next two days, they didn’t visit any famous attractions but kept going to the police station, eager to see if more “shocking” developments unfold in this story.

In the end, Tang Renmei faced trial in China, Todo Sosuke was sent back to Japan under charges of theft, smuggling, and murder. Shiho Nishimura took her sister Yang Liling (or Chie Nishimura) home to meet their mother. And thus, Fang Zheng and his friends’ astounding trip came to an end.

Once back in Japan, Little Ai specifically recounted the case to Ran and Conan, leaving both sufficiently astonished. Ran marveled, and Conan was beside himself, wondering why he hadn’t tagged along for such an exciting, complex case.

To this, Fang Zheng rejoined…

“Dream on, taking him along? Isn’t it enough to have one dead person?”

“But isn’t it true that even if you didn’t take him, people still died?”

Sitting next to Fang Zheng, Little Ai murmured.

“And two people died, with one even being your company employee.”

“……….”

Fang Zheng extended his hand, grabbing Little Ai’s hair for a playful mess-up.

You have shrimp intent pigs heart!!

“What are you doing?!”

Little Ai unhappily slapped away Fang Zheng’s hand and tidied her hair. Are you kidding me? Curly hair is hard to manage, okay? She spends time every day fixing it, and now she’ll have to start all over again because of you!

“I have a task for you, go gather all the information on all the famous detectives in Japan on the list, so I can avoid them in the future!”

After encountering Phoenix Wright and Kindaichi Hajime, Fang Zheng immediately realized that this world is obviously not just a simple Conan World. It might be a hodgepodge of mystery worlds, and there might even be other detective-type characters. However, in terms of detective works, Fang Zheng is not familiar with many famous detectives; only a few well-known ones come to mind, or those he played in games or watched in animations when he was young. So, just in case, better find and remember these people to avoid them in the future…

The real trouble is, seeing someone in reality is completely different from seeing them in animations. Like Kindaichi Hajime, Fang Zheng didn’t recognize him at first glance, because in animations, Kindaichi is just a very ordinary man, not as striking as Shinichi Kudou, looking like a slovenly high school student. In reality, he looks even more like an average person on the street, so Fang Zheng only realized something was wrong when Kindaichi stated his name… but it was too late.

Fang Zheng vented his dissatisfaction inwardly and hurriedly left, leaving Little Ai glaring fiercely at his retreating figure and unhappily fixing her hair.

“Hehe, you and Mr. Fang Zheng really have a good relationship.”

At this point, Akemi, who also saw this scene, couldn’t help but smile and say.

“You call that a good relationship? Sister, you must need some eye drops.”

“Isn’t it? Doesn’t he take you everywhere he goes to play?”

“That’s just because you’re busy, sister.”

Little Ai didn’t seem willing to get tangled up in this topic.

“Otherwise, you could have joined us as well, and sister, about Mr. Fang Zheng…”

At this point, Little Ai sneaked a glance at Daimon, then averted her gaze.

“What do you actually think?”

“I think things are great as they are now.”

Akemi appeared calm, looking at the computer in front of her as she answered Little Ai’s question.

“The two of us sisters can live peacefully like this, enjoying peaceful days. As long as that organization is destroyed, then we have nothing to worry about.”

“But sister, you always need to fall in love, and I know you like Mr. Fang Zheng.”

“But Mr. Fang Zheng is not from this world after all…”

Akemi silently looked at Little Ai.

“One day, he will leave here. Do you want me to leave here too?”

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. If there’s no organization there, I’d quite like to go.”

Little Ai shook her head, looking out the window. She hardly has any beautiful memories in this world, frankly speaking, if she could go to a stranger world and start anew… Hmm? It actually sounds a bit exciting.

“Sister, do you think aliens really exist? Mr. Fang Zheng doesn’t look like an alien to me.”

As a scientist, Little Ai has been struggling with this question.

“Is the planet he comes from really like Earth’s environment?”

“Maybe Mr. Fang Zheng’s body is also a disguise, you see, aren’t there movies where aliens disguise themselves as humans?”

“But those are all villains…”

Hearing this, Little Ai seemed to think of something, and couldn’t help but shiver.

“Hmm… this seems like a very interesting research topic…”
