38: Chapter 38 Nuclear-Powered Scorpionevolution points +35,246

evolution points +65,324

evolution points +45,324

Even though Lin Sheng was simply eating whatever food he could fit into his mouth, his evolution points were growing rapidly.

What Lin Sheng did not know was that as he was feeding on the Giant Scorpion’s corpse, countless thread-like tentacles had unknowingly sprouted from the back of his head.

...

Soon, Lin Sheng’s body length reached one hundred meters.

[Ding]

[Congratulations to the Host for reaching a body length of one hundred meters; the system offers its congratulations]

The system’s voice suddenly rang in Lin Sheng’s ear.

Hearing this mechanical voice, Lin Sheng was momentarily stunned.

”That’s it?”

He asked the system in his mind.

”You just offer a single word of congratulation, and then it’s over?”

”Where is my milestone achievement gift pack? Did you pocket it yourself?”

[Ding]

[This system does not have a setting for milestone achievements. Please do not forcibly impose non-existent settings on this system]

The system’s response left Lin Sheng speechless to the extreme. He couldn’t help but complain in his heart:

”I say, dog system, is this your first time being a system? Why don’t you have any functions?”

”Let’s set aside this milestone achievement for now and just talk about the basics.”

”A normal system should have a task system, right? You don’t even have a single task. What kind of system are you?”

”You wouldn’t tell me anything when I asked before, and now that I have ’Omniscience,’ what use are you?”

”Are you just here to help me count evolution points?”

Lin Sheng’s outburst caused the system to fall silent for a long time.

After a long while, just as Lin Sheng thought the system had been silenced by his ranting, its voice reached his ears again.

[Ding]

[Following the Host’s wishes, the system is loading the Task Module]

[Issuing Task: Devour the Universe]

[Task Duration: 24 hours]

[Task Failure Penalty: Obliteration (Truth)]

”Godfather, I was wrong.”

”I accidentally spoke a bit too loudly just now. Please be magnanimous and forgive me.”

Seeing the task given by the system on the panel, Lin Sheng’s apology was extremely sincere.

After spending so many days with the system, Lin Sheng had already realized that his system was not a rigid program; it had its own thoughts.

Moreover, Lin Sheng had discovered a characteristic of his system.

There was nothing that calling it ’Godfather’ couldn’t solve.

Sure enough, once Lin Sheng called out ’Godfather,’ the task on the system panel dissipated.

”Thank you for your great kindness, Godfather.”

Lin Sheng called out again submissively.

[Ding]

[This system chose not to load the Task Module only after careful consideration]

Perhaps because Lin Sheng had called it ’Godfather’ so many times, the system gave a rare explanation.

Lin Sheng was puzzled by this.

Logically, a Task Module could serve as an incentive for the Host. Why wouldn’t the system load it?

Lin Sheng was very curious about the Task Module and why his system had chosen not to load it.

”The Task Module is a disguised form of pulling up seedlings to help them grow. It brings great psychological pressure to the Host. Only low-level systems choose to use this method to spur their Hosts.”

”The personality of ??? disdains using such methods on others, and therefore did not choose to load the Task Module.”

[!!!]

Lin Sheng: ?!!

[It is indeed better to exercise control over things of the Truth Level.]

Lin Sheng felt that the system’s mechanical voice suddenly possessed emotion; he could detect a hint of helplessness in it.

However, Lin Sheng reacted quickly and immediately stated his position:

”Thank you, Godfather. I don’t know anything.”

Lin Sheng’s gratitude was from the heart.

Everything he had now was brought by the system. After knowing the system’s true intentions, calling it ’Godfather’ was well-deserved.

Lin Sheng even began to regret his earlier complaints.

If he had known the inside story of the ’Task Module’ sooner, he would never have said those things.

The system had fallen silent by this point, and Lin Sheng did not speak again to disturb it.

...

”Roar!”

After eating several legs of the Giant Scorpion, Lin Sheng wanted to let out a satisfied burp.

But due to the existence of the talent ’Devour,’ this burp turned into a roar.

He glanced at his evolution points.

evolution points: 12,453,215

Seeing that long string of numbers, Lin Sheng was very satisfied.

He had only eaten about one-fifth of the Giant Scorpion’s corpse.

If he could eat the entire corpse, Lin Sheng felt his evolution points could reach 30 million.

Thinking this, Lin Sheng moved to the head of the Giant Scorpion.

Lin Sheng remembered that this was where the essence of the Giant Scorpion lay; it could not be missed.

*Thump!*

His claw struck the Giant Scorpion’s skull. The Giant Scorpion was fine, but Lin Sheng’s claw had already gone a bit numb.

He narrowed his eyes, thinking about how to pry open the Giant Scorpion’s head.

”There is a weak point 15 meters diagonally below. I can open it with full strength.”

Following the instructions in his mind, Lin Sheng positioned himself by the Giant Scorpion’s skull in a posture that allowed for maximum force.

*Thump! Thump!*

*Crack!*

After Lin Sheng struck with full force a few times, a crack appeared where his claw had hit.

Seeing this, he increased his power and struck several more times.

*Thump! Thump! Thump!*

Lin Sheng suddenly felt his claws become somewhat sticky.

He lifted his claw and found that the spot he hit had split open, and a substance like thick pus was gushing out from the Giant Scorpion’s skull.

This pus was very thick, giving Lin Sheng the feeling that his hands were covered in glue.

Currently, the crack was still small, and the pus couldn’t flow out normally. Lin Sheng took the opportunity to observe the substance on his hand.

During this time, Lin Sheng didn’t notice that when he touched the pus, the scales on his body seemed to come alive, constantly opening and closing.

”It contains extremely powerful energy. This energy is nuclear energy.”

This information rising from his heart left Lin Sheng greatly shocked.

Although Lin Sheng already knew that the Giant Scorpion fired Nuclear Energy Rays, he didn’t know that the Giant Scorpion was driven by nuclear energy.

Even for Godzilla, it’s impossible for its head to be filled with Nuclear Fuel, right?

*Drip.*

While Lin Sheng was in shock, the sound of a few drops hitting the ground caught his attention.

Noticing that the Nuclear Fuel had begun to leak, Lin Sheng stopped worrying about whether there was something wrong with it.

He directly used his mouth to block the crack.

And at that moment, countless tentacles spread out from Lin Sheng.

The tentacles drifted around Lin Sheng’s mouth. When Lin Sheng noticed them, he couldn’t help but be startled.

”Holy sh*t!”

”What is this thing!”

”Nuclear Fuel will stimulate the chaotic information, making it restless.”

Lin Sheng was momentarily caught in a dilemma.

If he insisted on devouring this pool of Nuclear Fuel, the chaotic information inside him would inevitably become restless, and the consequences would be unimaginable.

But if he didn’t devour it...

Lin Sheng was unwilling.

”After devouring this Nuclear Fuel, the chaotic information will become even more restless. However, even if it becomes restless, with Immortal Consciousness, the main body remains basically controllable.”

”Let’s do it!”

Lin Sheng no longer had any lingering fears.

Hardening his heart, he began to gulp down the pool of Nuclear Fuel from the Giant Scorpion’s brain.

evolution points +421,351

evolution points +216,444

evolution points +224,352

Gaining six-figure evolution points at once made Lin Sheng feel that it was all worth it.

Although the sensation in his mouth was very strange and uncomfortable, Lin Sheng could endure it for the sake of evolution points.

*Slurp slurp.*

It wasn’t until he could no longer suck any more out that Lin Sheng released his mouth, still wanting more.

After drinking this pool of Nuclear Fuel, Lin Sheng’s body length directly surged by more than 30 meters.

Countless tentacles danced behind his head, and the scales on his body opened and closed, making him look both eerie and terrifying.

Lin Sheng used his claw to smooth the tentacles behind his head, but they were not under his control. Once his claw moved away, the tentacles drifted behind his head of their own accord.

”Forget it.”

Lin Sheng didn’t pay much more attention to the tentacles.

He turned his gaze toward the scorpion’s tail.

The Giant Scorpion’s tail could fire Nuclear Energy Rays; logically, the energy here should also be very abundant.

Lin Sheng planned to finish eating the parts of the Giant Scorpion with the most abundant energy first. That way, even if some big guy came over later, he wouldn’t lose out.

With that thought, Lin Sheng swallowed the Giant Scorpion’s tail hook in one bite.

[Ding]

[The Host has met the Evolution conditions. Please undergo Evolution within one Planetary Solar Day, otherwise the opportunity will be forfeited]
