Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 666: Chapter 348: None of Your Business

And those who’ve mixed in the streets, once they’ve hit a dead end, don’t expect them to have a bottom line.

At that point, there’ll be losses and personal injuries—why bother? Why endure that?

So, Lawrence Winters felt that Nick Zeller signing this contract was the correct decision. Although he owed Owen a debt, as long as he repaid it, there wouldn’t be further personal harm, and he did secure a piece of land.

Their problem now is that they can’t come up with the five billion to repay Owen.

Cameron Spencer contemplated Lawrence Winters’ words and said lightly, ”That land is worth at most ten million now, Owen asking for five billion is extortionate.”

”We know, but before this, it was worth fifty million, and he even mortgaged it to borrow money for preliminary preparations. Plus his expected profit, it’s roughly worth five billion,” Lawrence Winters explained some details from the contract.

”It’s still too much,” Cameron Spencer shook his head, ”I can lend you ten million for the emergency, no interest, as long as you return it within three years.”

Lawrence Winters curled his lips, ”We need five billion, your ten million is just a drop in the ocean. Let’s forget it, we’ll find another way.”

Cameron Spencer laughed at Lawrence Winters’ tone, ”What? You think ten million is too little?”

He turned his head and saw Kenneth Osborne standing silently beside him. With his cane, he pointed at Kenneth Osborne, ”He’s got money, you should ask him... He earned ten billion from our Spencer Group, and taking out five billion to give you, it’s more than easy.”

The news that Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne had registered their marriage wasn’t public yet, and Lawrence Winters didn’t want to use this as leverage.

Before Kenneth Osborne could speak, Lawrence Winters quickly interjected, ”Cameron, someone like you who can casually take out fifty billion, why be stingy with five billion? Why talk about other people’s small businesses? Besides, five billion isn’t that big a number. I asked you because of your affinity with my mentor. Since you’re not willing, perhaps I’ve misjudged; you and him have no affinity at all.”

Lawrence Winters’ words made Cameron Spencer suspicious that she knew about his father-son relationship with Nick Zeller.

But Nick Zeller always refused to acknowledge him, and Cameron didn’t want to give away five billion for nothing.

He chuckled and said, ”Alright, when he wakes up, let him talk to me himself. If he asks, I certainly won’t stand by idly.”

While speaking, he turned and walked outside, saying, ”You all have my number, call me then.”

This time, Cameron was sure that as long as Nick Zeller could wake up, he would definitely come back to him.

If he doesn’t wake up, then there’s no need...

...

Cameron Spencer walked away with his entourage, and only then did Nick Zeller open his eyes.

Lawrence Winters quickly closed the ward door, asking, ”Mentor, would you like something to eat?”

Nick Zeller had just come to, and his mind was still a bit muddled.

He heard Lawrence Winters keep calling him ”Mentor” and wondered, ”Why call ’Mentor’? Shouldn’t you call me Uncle?”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

She walked over worriedly and touched Nick Zeller’s forehead, ”Mentor, you’re not having amnesia, are you?”

Knocked heads can cause amnesia—that’s how those melodramatic CEO novels write it.

Nick Zeller furrowed his brow, ”Take your hand away, what amnesia, have you watched too many Korean dramas?”

”Then do you remember what you said to my mom before you passed out?” Lawrence Winters was currently only concerned with this.

If Nick Zeller has amnesia, what will her mom do!

Nick Zeller blinked, his face suddenly flushed, his gaze somewhat evasive: ”... What words, I...”

”You really don’t remember?!” Lawrence Winters couldn’t help but yell softly, ”Do you need me to remind you?!”

”Remind what? Of course, I remember!” Nick Zeller saw Lawrence Winters getting anxious and quickly reassured her, ”I was worried you wouldn’t accept it, looking now, you accepted?”

”Of course, I accepted! Mentor! Otherwise, why wouldn’t I call you Uncle!” Lawrence Winters couldn’t help but roll her eyes, ”You figure it out before speaking.”

Nick Zeller’s eyes darted around, and after a while, he bashfully asked, ”You know everything?”

”My mom told me. But if you have amnesia, I’ll act like nothing happened.” Yet Lawrence Winters’ expression didn’t look like ”nothing happened.”

She stared at Nick Zeller, as if prepared to jump up and hit him if he dared to say he didn’t remember.

Nick Zeller looked at her demeanor, feeling amused, satisfied, and a touch of sweetness inside.

This is the child he raised, no different than his own daughter.

This is also the child of the woman he loves, the one he and she raised together so big.

Whatever other children have, she has.

Whatever other children don’t have, she also has.

Of course, we can’t compare with those wealthy families.

Nick Zeller thought happily, compared to ordinary citizens, their family’s living standard is still leagues ahead.

He squinted his eyes with laughter, saying, ”How could I have amnesia? I’m waiting for you to call me ’Dad’!”

Earlier, Lawrence Winters was flailing, afraid Nick Zeller would ”have amnesia.”

Now she nearly teared up at the word ”Dad” from Nick Zeller.

She pressed her lips together, holding back tears, smiling, ”As long as you remember. Anyway, once you recover, deal with affairs with mom, I want to drink your wedding wine first!”

Nick Zeller beamed with joy, but deliberately declined, ”Isn’t it better to handle yours and Kenneth’s first since you two already got the certificate?”

”No! Handle yours and Mom’s first, I’m waiting for you as a father to walk me down the aisle at my wedding!” Lawrence Winters laughed, dreaming.

Nick Zeller nodded repeatedly, too excited that soon he felt a little dizzy.

He laughed and said, ”Lawrence, don’t draw me so many pies, I’m too happy it’s going to my head.”

Kenneth Osborne quickly said, ”Then you should rest, don’t stress. Don’t worry about the contract; we’ll sort it out.”

Nick Zeller made an ”mmm” sound, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.

Lawrence Winters returned to the small dining table and continued eating.

Gabrielle Winters had already finished eating. When Lawrence Winters was talking to Nick Zeller earlier, her heart was also beating rapidly.

Now that she knows everything is fine, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and watched Lawrence Winters eat, asking Kenneth Osborne if he wanted something to eat.

Kenneth Osborne shook his head, ”I’m not hungry.”

Gabrielle Winters smiled and said, ”Then accompany Lawrence to eat, I’ll look after Nick.”

Gabrielle Winters walked over to Nick Zeller’s hospital bed and sat down as before.

After Lawrence Winters finished eating, Kenneth Osborne greeted Gabrielle Winters, and they both took the food box back to their luxury flat.

On the way, Kenneth Osborne said to Lawrence Winters, ”I’ll find a way about the five billion, don’t worry.”

Lawrence Winters looked at him curiously, saying, ”This has nothing to do with you, why would you want to find a way?”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”
