Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 659: Chapter 345: Striking It Rich (First Update)

This is true indeed.

Ian was momentarily at a loss for words.

Being a genius and a polymath, he could understand anything he picked up, so he often mistakenly assumed others could too.

Now, after Lawrence mentioned it, he suddenly realized he had repeated the mistake of ”empiricism” and quickly patted his head, saying, ”My bad, so you’re saying that while operating, you didn’t look at the X-ray and CT scan reports?”

Lawrence shook his head again and honestly explained, ”No. As I said, I couldn’t understand them even if I looked. I only listened to my mom tell me that my uncle probably wouldn’t wake up and might become a vegetable.”

At this point, she couldn’t help but ask Ian, ”Professor Lothrop, do you understand medicine?”

She didn’t know that Ian had already performed surgery once, that time on Joyce.

But during that operation, Ian wore a mask the whole time, so Lawrence had no idea it was Ian who performed the surgery on Joyce.

Of course, if she had known, she probably wouldn’t be asking Ian for help, considering Joyce wasn’t saved.

Ian said arrogantly, ”You’re asking the right person. If I say I don’t know medicine, then no one in the world does. There’s no surgery I can’t handle.”

Lawrence: ”...That amazing? Can you save my uncle? If you can cure him without any aftereffects, I’ll do whatever you say!”

This promise was too tempting.

Ian hesitated for two seconds, ”Deal! I’ll treat your uncle’s injuries and guarantee he’ll wake up tomorrow without any aftereffects!”

”Really?!” Lawrence was so excited that she wanted to sit up in the sealed cabin.

She struggled for a bit, only to remember she was strapped to the soft cushions of the sealed cabin and couldn’t sit up.

Seeing Lawrence’s movements on the monitoring screen, Ian chuckled, ”Don’t move, I haven’t finished asking yet.”

”Ask away! Ask quickly! I’ll tell you everything I know!” Now it was Lawrence’s turn to be anxious, fearing Ian wouldn’t ask more questions, so she could appear more useful.

One of the ideas Nick often instilled in Lawrence was that having utility value was a manifestation of strength.

The worst thing is having no utility value, just waiting for others’ charity; that’s truly divine beast.

Ian laughed and said, ”Alright, I’ll ask you again: you haven’t studied medicine, can’t understand X-ray and CT scan reports, and you haven’t seen X-ray and CT scan reports; then tell me, how did you make Brandon’s injuries exactly like what your uncle had?”

This time, Lawrence sincerely and thoroughly explained, ”I carefully observed my uncle’s injuries. I felt his left calf with the comminuted fracture and the back of his head that was hit, gauging the extent of muscle and bone flaccidity, and got a sense.”

”Wait, hold on...” Ian quickly interrupted, ”What do you mean by ’got a sense’? Can you be more specific? Like, quantify it?”

Lawrence couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

Seriously, quantify!

She pouted, ”How to quantify this? I just rely on my own feelings? Is that so hard?”

”It’s hard, of course it’s hard! Damn hard!” Ian sighed repeatedly, ”Lawrence, you can’t be like this, you’re being perfunctory. I might take back the promise to treat your uncle!”

Lawrence got anxious, ”Professor Lothrop, that’s not what you said just now!”

”What did I say? I have memory problems, don’t remember.” Ian flatly denied his words and mocked Lawrence, ”I told you before, you don’t know me well, I’m so unreliable even my daughter doesn’t trust me hahaha!”

Looking not ashamed but rather proud.

Lawrence was dumbfounded for a long time, then nodded, ”Alright, you win, but I still want to say, when I felt my uncle’s injuries with my hands, I was extremely angry at that moment, angry enough to wish to tear the perpetrator to pieces.”

”And then I just had a sense of it, at that moment I knew how much strength to use and from what angle to cause identical injuries, no more, no less. You know, I’m with the Celestial Path Sect.”

”We people of the Celestial Path Sect are known for this.”

Ian didn’t fully believe it, deeply pondering, ”You mean, people in the Celestial Path Sect, can all achieve this level?”

”What level?”

”Like when striking back, can create injuries exactly like those received?”
