Cursed Immortality

Chapter 971: Living in Fear

Jacob has been within the Infinite Space for over months now ever since he had encountered the Immortal Nimrod. He didnʼt dare to leave because his opponent was out of his league. On top of that, his biggest reliance, the Infinity Pendant, was rendered completely useless against this enemy.

Furthermore, Jacob had been immersed in analyzing Immortikaʼs cryptic words all this time, almost to the point of obsession, because this time, he knew his life was in real danger.

The only solace Jacob had was the Gluttony Mask, which could provide him with some safety. But Immortika had clearly told him that if Immortal Nimrod really brought out the Longevity Path Glory Gem, even the Gluttony Mask will be rendered useless.

Jacob didnʼt feel safe going outside against such an enemy who could find and attack him at any time and whenever they wanted. His biggest fear was Immortal Nimrod might not attack him alone this time.

Furthermore, if he wanted to use the wish to get some information on this enemy, the lowest price was a million years, while the highest was in tens of millions, which consolidated his enemyʼs unreal strength and terror!

Thatʼs why Jacob fell into a strange trance. He wanted to survive and didnʼt want to relive the same event that happened in the Unique Plains. This time, even if Immortika helped him, he wouldnʼt be able to pay the price.

Lastly, the Longevity Path Glory Gem was an absolute requirement if he wanted to progress further into the Cursed Immortality. Now that he knew the person who had been specifically hunting him, he had lost the element of surprise.

In fact, while mulling over this problem, Jacob had a terrible realization: He might not be the first one being hunted by the person who has the Longevity Path Glory Gem. This dilemma was like an endless pit, and the more Jacob thought about it, the deeper he fell.

Nyx, within the Nightmare Realm, was flurried at this moment because Jacob had completely cut her vision after he entered the Infinite Space. She knew his mental state as someone who was directly connected with a part of his soul.

Furthermore, she finds herself in the mess of Virtual Star World at this time, and she is very afraid of telling Jacob about it, given his current mindset.

But right now, she needs Jacob to exit the Infinite Space so she can complete the final step, and after gathering her courage, she decided to do it.

ʼItʼs good news! The process doesnʼt matter…ʼ

With determination, Nyx tried to call Jacob, ”Ahem, can you hear me? I have something important to report. Itʼs about the Virtual Star World and using my ability to farm lifespan, you know, the things we discussed before? I mightʼve found the key to sneakily plant nightmare seeds and reap lifespan through the Virtual Star World!”

After revealing it, Nyx anxiously waited for Jacobʼs response. She also discovered ripples in Jacobʼs stagnant mind when she gave him the ʼgood newsʼ.

Thereupon, Jacob appeared within the Nightmare Realm, this time in his skeletal form. His flaming eyes flared violently, making Nyx shudder as she could feel a hint of madness in them.

”Is it true?” Jacob asked in a voice that was emotionless yet icy.

If it were any other time, Nyx wouldʼve jeered at him, but now, she didnʼt dare to say anything to tick him off.

”Yes. Iʼve stumbled upon a very powerful formation that can work within the Virtual Star World. With my knowledge and comprehension, I can alter it and then use it to instill the nightmare seeds through the virtual star world into strong victims.”

Jacob remained silent as his eyes flickered violently, ”What do you need from me?”

ʼHeʼs not asking how I stumbled upon a formation in the Virtual Star World? Or he didnʼt care?ʼ Nyx was astounded but didnʼt probe.

She replied, ”I can receive that formation while we are in your world. Furthermore, Iʼve captured a very powerful ATLAS higher up through this formation, or to be exact, her true soul. As long as we can bring her into your world, even if she has some trick, she wonʼt be able to escape, and we can get more information about ATLAS through her. Sheʼs an hourglass bearer!”

”You were targeted by ATLAS and an hourglass one at that? How?” Jacob impassively questioned.

Nyx shuddered, afraid of answering this exact question, especially now. Furthermore, she knew Jacobʼs eyes could see through lies, and if she dared lie, sheʼd be digging her own grave, and she might lose Jacobʼs trust forever.

Ultimately, Nyx decided to be honest and tell him about Long Nose. She had already told him about her the last time he tasked her with releasing the information, and this was the exact thing that put her under Long Noseʼs radar.

Jacob heard everything without interrupting Nyx. He spoke only until she finished, and his response was again unexpected.

”How long do we need to stay outside?”

”A few minutes would be sufficient. You just need to connect me with a Soul Star Watch.” Nyx replied with a faint frown.

”Alright.” Jacob impassively agreed before he exited the Nightmare Realm, just as he had come, like a ghost.

ʼI canʼt even tell what heʼs thinking anymore…ʼ Nyx was extremely nervous.

But soon, Nyxʼs vision returned, and as Jacob said, he wore a Soul Star Watch and exited the Infinite Space, letting Nyx connect with her Star ID. Nyx didnʼt dare delay and quickly started to get to work.

Jacob stood on the blackened ground of the Evil Domain, appearing in his real body because the Soulless Ghost Kingʼs body couldnʼt connect with the Virtual Star World. He flickered as he used the Eyes of Judge at full capacity, and his soul senses were on high alert. He had even written a wish beforehand in his mind just in case he needed to flee.

At this moment, Jacobʼs Soul Star Watch suddenly became hot, runes began to surface, and a small vortex formed above his wrist.

The next moment, a tiny marble ball shot out from the vortex!
