Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 173: Chapter 173: Seven-Star Dragon Kill Array, Devouring Luck

For Ye Yun, the most ancient ancestor of the Dragon God Sect from a hundred thousand years ago, he barely recognized anyone from the younger generations, aside from Luo Li and a few others. However, Ye Yun was intimately familiar with the previous Sect Masters of the Dragon God Sect, remembering them with vivid clarity.

First, he found his own Ancestral Spirit Plaque. With a slight flicker of his gaze, the plaque dissolved into light smoke and vanished. Being very much alive, he had no need for incense offerings from any descendants. Ye Yun then examined the twelve Ancestral Spirit Plaques before him; they indeed belonged to former Sect Masters of the Dragon God Sect, and all the names were correct.

”Master, is this a branch lineage of our Dragon God Sect?” the Big Black Horse asked softly from the side.

”Let’s observe further...” Ye Yun just smiled, not giving the Big Black Horse a definitive answer.

Luo Li’s branch of the Dragon God Sect had been so tragically persecuted by the mastermind that its lineage was nearly severed. Yet, this branch of the Dragon God Sect was flourishing and well-organized. This seemed to deviate significantly from the mastermind’s intentions. How could this mastermind, possessing such incredible power, idly watch the Heavenly Star Dynasty’s branch of the Dragon God Sect develop? It clearly defied logic.

Ye Yun was filled with doubts, so he decided to investigate underground.

As his gaze swept over the Ancestral Spirit Plaques one by one, Ye Yun discovered they were incomplete, only going up to the two hundred and fifty-first generation, with none following. Ye Yun focused on the plaque of the two hundred and fiftieth generation Sect Master. He recalled Luo Li mentioning that the two hundred and fiftieth Sect Master had offended a powerful faction, after which the Dragon God Sect began to be relentlessly hunted.

The Ancestral Spirit Plaque read: ”The position of Dragon Xuan, 250th Generation Sect Master of the Dragon God Sect.”

Ye Yun nodded faintly. So, this man was named Dragon Xuan. The name was respectable enough, especially his surname, Long, which suited the Dragon God Sect perfectly. Ye Yun committed not only Dragon Xuan to memory but also the names of all the Sect Masters who preceded him.

Then he exited the ancestral hall. The Big Black Horse carefully closed the hall doors and stood behind Ye Yun.

”Let’s go, we’ll take a look underground,” Ye Yun said.

He tore open the void once more, arriving directly in the depths of the earth. Seeing the large black formation barring his path, Ye Yun observed it silently for a moment before stepping forward. The large black formation naturally parted, creating an opening.

Ye Yun stepped in, the Big Black Horse following closely.

As expected of the Master, effortlessly breaking through this great formation... the Big Black Horse thought, filled with envy.

Standing in the dim void, Ye Yun looked down at the colossal Black Dragon below, a faint light flickering in his eyes. This Black Dragon’s bloodline wasn’t pure; it had been cultivated from a Black Flood Dragon that had been dead for well over ten thousand years. Seven small arrows were embedded in the Black Dragon’s body, fixed there like the Big Dipper Sword Array.

Ye Yun reached out, made a gentle grasping motion in the void, and a wisp of faint black qi appeared in his hand. He examined it, and a sudden, baleful glint flashed in his eyes.

”Such a vicious method!” Ye Yun said gravely.

”Master, what is this?” the Big Black Horse asked nervously.

”This is a malevolent qi used to plunder fortune...” Ye Yun stated calmly. ”My Dragon God Sect is an Eternal Level sect, bearing the great fortune of the Cangnan Continent. When its fortune prospers, its purple qi of destiny, spanning a hundred billion li, is like a Divine Dragon, anchoring the continent.”

”Oh...” The Big Black Horse nodded, seeming to grasp a little of what the Master had said. The Dragon God Sect is an Eternal Level sect, carrying immense fortune. To completely annihilate it must be incredibly difficult. Not only must the disciples of the Dragon God Sect be eliminated, but its intangible fortune must also be continuously suppressed and plundered. The Black Dragon before us seems to be plundering the Dragon God Sect’s fortune, the Big Black Horse mused.

As the Big Black Horse was lost in thought, Ye Yun pointed his finger.

WHOOSH!

The colossal Black Dragon suddenly flipped over, revealing seven deep black holes beneath its body, each exuding a faint, dark aura.

”These are...” the Big Black Horse stared at the seven black holes in astonishment, finding them unfathomably deep, as if they reached into the very core of the earth.

”This Black Dragon has had a Divine Skill tied to its fate cast upon it, representing the fortune of the Dragon God Sect here. And those Seven-Star small arrows form a formation called the Seven-Star Dragon Kill Array... Every night, the great formation activates automatically, emitting an invisible malevolent aura that permeates the Dragon God Sect above, plundering its fortune. And those seven black holes channel the plundered fortune back into the earth pulses of the Cangnan Continent...” Ye Yun explained calmly, looking at the black openings.

Hearing this explanation, a chill ran down the Big Black Horse’s spine. Just what kind of person could possess such formidable methods? An ordinary Eternal Realm Cultivator definitely couldn’t achieve this. This even involved the manipulation of fortune. It would require a great Cultivator, proficient in Divine Skills related to fate and numerology, to execute such a grand design.

”What kind of an enemy did our Dragon God Sect provoke,” Ye Yun’s faint voice echoed through the void, ”to be hated so intensely, to the point they wish to annihilate us completely?”

The Big Black Horse shuddered. In a daze, he too sensed the power of that invisible, hidden hand, as if it originated from the highest heavens, manipulating events in this world from across dimensions.

”Master, I’ll go destroy this Black Dragon and shatter the Seven-Star Dragon Kill Array!” the Big Black Horse declared indignantly.

”Breaking it is useless!” Ye Yun suddenly said with a mysterious smile, his expression enigmatic.

The Big Black Horse was stunned, unable to comprehend his Master’s words. This Black Dragon represents the Dragon God Sect on the surface. The Seven-Star Dragon Kill Array draws a malevolent aura from it daily, absorbing the Dragon God Sect’s fortune, which then flows into the depths of the earth through seven openings beneath its body. Day after day, year after year, it continuously depletes the Dragon God Sect’s fortune. Shouldn’t it be destroyed?

Ye Yun turned to look at the Big Black Horse and chuckled, ”Actually, what truly needs to be destroyed is the Dragon God Sect on the surface.”

These words were earth-shattering. The Big Black Horse felt as if a heavy mallet had struck his head, leaving it ringing. He was utterly bewildered. What did the Master mean? Why was it more imperative to destroy the Dragon God Sect on the surface? Isn’t the surface Dragon God Sect a branch of our Dragon God Sect’s lineage? Why destroy it? Is it just to prevent the Seven-Star Dragon Kill Array from continuing to devour the Dragon God Sect’s fortune?

Ye Yun looked at the Big Black Horse’s expression and merely offered a faint smile. He could understand the Big Black Horse’s current turmoil.

If Ye Yun hadn’t personally descended into this subterranean world today, even he could not have imagined the depths of the mastermind’s treachery. The Dragon God Sect on the surface, a Low-grade Major Sect numbering seventy to eighty thousand disciples, was actually a cobbled-together False Dragon God Sect. Based on the Dragon God Sect’s authentic Three Ultimate Techniques, they had pieced together a hodgepodge of three new, inferior ones. These were the techniques used to perpetuate its lineage.

The mastermind allowed this Dragon God Sect to survive in the Heavenly Star Dynasty because the true Dragon God Sect’s fortune was vast and unending. It couldn’t be easily severed by mortal means; a single misstep could allow the dragon to rise again. To prevent this, the mastermind, while continuously suppressing the true Dragon God Sect, simultaneously created this False Dragon God Sect, allowing it to ’inherit’ the Dragon God Sect’s fortune.
