Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Nangong Jade and the Ancient Demon Violin

”Thank you for saving our lives, respected Elder!”

The two middle-aged men hastily fell to their knees, kowtowing sincerely to express their deep gratitude.

Ye Yun turned to face them, his expression calm.

He had intervened to save these two for two main reasons.

First, he was touched by the deep bond of affection among the three siblings.

Second, Ye Yun was curious about their ancestral teachings and what the three of them were searching for in the Ancient Demon Abyss.

”All of you, rise!”

Ye Yun glanced at the ever-churning Demonic Qi around them. With a wave of his great sleeves, a force effortlessly lifted the two men to their feet.

Then, looking into the distance, he saw that the middle-aged woman had already reached the exit of the Ancient Demon Abyss. He grabbed the two men before him and instantly vanished from that spot.

「Outside the Ancient Demon Abyss.」

Ye Yun placed the two men on the ground and waited quietly for the middle-aged woman to join them.

After a few deep breaths, the middle-aged woman, pale and panting, finally emerged from the Ancient Demon Abyss.

When she saw her two brothers unharmed before her, she was utterly astonished and momentarily speechless.

”Little Sister, this benefactor saved us!”

One of the middle-aged men quickly stepped forward to explain what had happened to the middle-aged woman.

”Thank you, Elder!”

The middle-aged woman was deeply moved, tears welling in her eyes. She immediately fell to her knees and kowtowed three times resoundingly to Ye Yun.

”Please, rise.”

Ye Yun offered a gentle smile.

Although he could directly read the memories of these three people, he generally chose not to do so. After all, as a transmigrator, Ye Yun understood the importance of individual privacy. And he had always been uninterested in and disinclined to intrude upon others’ privacy.

Then, Ye Yun asked with a smile, ”What were you looking for in the Ancient Demon Abyss?”

The middle-aged woman, hearing this question from the Elder, found herself in a dilemma.

The middle-aged man sent a serious telepathic message to her, Sister, the Elder before us is a peerless master. It has been almost a hundred thousand years since that incident; there’s no need to conceal anything anymore. Just tell him...

He had formed a shocking suspicion from the moment the Elder, wreathed in divine white light, had so effortlessly saved them. The Super Divine Dragon Breath emanating from this Elder was definitely not from the Eternal Realm. As a cultivator at the Peak of the Ten Layers of Life and Death Realm, he was no stranger to the Super Divine Dragon Breath of the Eternal Realm, so he could judge this. This Elder might actually be a True God—the very True God who countered the terrifying celestial phenomena today! Such an extraordinary figure, capable of suppressing the entire Cangnan Continent. If this Elder harbored malicious intentions, would the three of them even be alive? Besides, cultivators of the True God Realm were legendary beings, possessing heaven-defying methods. Searching the memories of the three of them would be a mere trifle for such an existence.

The middle-aged woman also came to her senses. She immediately cupped her fists and bowed, saying softly, ”Respected Elder, we were searching for an ancient violin.”

”An ancient violin?”

Ye Yun was slightly taken aback.

The mention of an ancient violin immediately made him think of Nangong Jade’s Ancient Demon Violin.

”Yes, an ancient violin. Our ancestor used it tens of thousands of years ago. However, just before her passing, she threw this violin into the Ancient Demon Abyss...” the middle-aged woman explained in detail.

Ye Yun blinked, scrutinizing the three of them once again. It seemed he had grasped something. He then asked, ”Does this ancient violin have a name?”

The middle-aged woman replied, ”Respected Elder, this violin is known as the Ancient Demon Violin. It is said to have originated from the Ancient Demon Abyss. Just before our ancestor’s passing, she returned it to the Ancient Demon Abyss...”

Ye Yun’s breathing hitched. Looking at the three people before him, he felt an indescribable excitement welling in his heart.

These three people are actually descendants of Nangong Jade! This is utterly inconceivable! After a hundred thousand years, on his first return to the Ancient Demon Abyss, he has unexpectedly encountered descendants of Nangong Jade!

”The ancestor you mentioned... must be Nangong Jade, right?”

Having regained his composure, Ye Yun asked calmly.

The three of them were instantly shocked.

Their ancestor had been dead for more than ninety thousand years, and virtually no one outside their family knew of her. How could this Elder possibly know?

”Elder, could it be that you knew our ancestor?” the middle-aged woman asked, mustering her courage.

”Yes.” Ye Yun nodded.

He suddenly felt a wave of disinterest and decided not to inquire further.

With his hands behind his back, Ye Yun gazed towards the distant Ancient Demon Abyss. Tiny, star-like runes began to shift within his eyes.

He began searching for the Ancient Demon Violin.

The three siblings standing nearby were filled with unease. They watched this Elder keep his gaze fixed on the Ancient Demon Abyss without uttering a word, and they couldn’t help but wonder if something they had said earlier had offended him.

After several tens of seconds, Ye Yun retracted his gaze and shook his head. ”The Ancient Demon Violin is not within the Ancient Demon Abyss. You don’t need to come looking for it anymore. Someone must have already taken it.”

The three of them were immediately stunned.

To think that the relic left by their ancestor had been claimed by someone else first!

Their spirits instantly plummeted.

The middle-aged woman’s eyes, in particular, turned red, tears threatening to fall.

Ye Yun suddenly sighed.

At that moment, his Sky Exterminating Phantom Eye activated once more.

The three descendants of Nangong Jade before him were instantly drawn into the Annihilation Region.

Ye Yun read their memories.

The matter concerning Qin Yao was of great importance, and currently, all clues pointed towards Nangong Jade. Ye Yun didn’t want to overlook anything. Therefore, he read through the memories of these three individuals completely, solely in search of new clues.

After reading their memories, Ye Yun felt both joy and sorrow; a maelstrom of emotions churned within him.

One pleasant surprise was that Nangong Jade had never married in her life. Instead, she had adopted a child who took her surname. This child was the true progenitor of these three siblings. When this child grew up, he also became a powerful cultivator of the Life and Death Realm. He established a tradition: his adoptive mother, Nangong Jade, was to be revered as the founding ancestor of the Nangong Family. This tradition was then passed down through the generations, for nearly a hundred thousand years.

What saddened Ye Yun was that, at some point, Nangong Jade had inexplicably gone mad. Her sanity would come and go, and she would often mutter incomprehensible things. Later, during a moment of lucidity, Nangong Jade sealed herself away. This self-imposed seal lasted for the rest of her life. When her life neared its end, she left behind her last words, departed from the Nangong Family, and journeyed alone to the Ancient Demon Abyss to cast the Ancient Demon Violin into its depths. Afterwards, she vanished completely. Her last words did not mention where she went. She only instructed her descendants that, after ten thousand years, if they had the opportunity to enter the Ancient Demon Abyss again, they should retrieve the Ancient Demon Violin, for within it lay her final messages.

The Nangong Family passed down this directive through generations: only those who reached the Peak of the Ten Layers of the Life and Death Realm were permitted to venture into the Ancient Demon Abyss to search for the Ancient Demon Violin. This current generation of the Nangong Family was particularly strong, producing three cultivators who had reached the Peak of the Ten Layers of the Life and Death Realm. Thus, the three of them had journeyed together, hoping to find their ancestor’s Ancient Demon Violin, only to unexpectedly encounter Ye Yun.
