Common puppet-refining methods may produce bodies that are tough and feel no pain. But in the end, a puppet is still just a puppet. It has no combat experience of its own and relies entirely on brute force.

Wei Yang naturally disdained creating something like that. A perfect puppet must not only possess a body as hard as metal and be free from pain, but must also have seasoned battle experience and ruthless killing techniques.

Ordinary puppets are controlled through their master’s soul sense.

If the master isn’t paying attention, then no matter how strong the puppet is, it becomes stiff and clumsy. Such a puppet is a dead puppet, far from perfect. To resolve this flaw, the puppet must possess a certain degree of intelligence and combat experience.

Yao Xiaotian was no ordinary figure. To become a Dou Sheng, he naturally wasn’t lacking in battle experience. So if Wei Yang could refine his remnant soul and fuse it into the puppet’s body, the resulting living puppet would become a true killing machine.

Very soon.

”No~”

Under the scorching heat of the Heavenly Flame, Yao Xiaotian’s remnant soul let out a final, shrill howl, and then his consciousness completely faded into nothingness.

As his remnant soul was refined, strand after strand of faint, ethereal energy was extracted and appeared within the black flames. This was the soul origin refined from the remnant soul. Its consciousness had been erased, but all the battle experience it accumulated in life was preserved.

These wispy streams then drifted out slowly and, under Wei Yang’s control, quietly merged into the puppet’s mind. As the ethereal streams seeped in, the originally lifeless eyes of Yao Xiaotian’s former body gradually filled with a cold, metallic gleam.

This gleam held no emotion, but there was a faint hint of liveliness within it. Coupled with the puppet’s black-iron body, from afar it looked imposing and shocking. Moreover, the body that had previously seemed stiff now slowly relaxed, no longer rigid like before.

This relaxation wasn’t laziness or weakness.

Rather, it hid terrifying explosive strength deep within its body. In this way, when it suddenly burst out to kill, its efficiency would be far greater. Next, Wei Yang spent several more days fusing various materials and magic cores into the puppet’s body.

Boom!

At the moment the refining process reached its end, the entire puppet’s body trembled, releasing a powerful aura. The black fire cauldron dispersed, and Wei Yang took a light breath as he gazed at the tall, black-iron figure standing in midair before him.

He looked toward Yao Ming.

”Thank you, Master!” Yao Ming immediately bowed in delight.

Already prepared, he flicked his finger, sending out a drop of blood essence that fell onto the puppet’s forehead. It formed a faint, mysterious blood imprint and sank deep into the puppet’s brow.

As the blood seal took hold, a profound sense of spiritual connection instantly arose.

”From now on, you’ll be called Yao Nu.” Successfully gaining control of the puppet, Yao Ming’s eyes carried a complex emotion as he spoke.

Hearing Yao Ming’s words, the sturdy black figure’s facial muscles twitched slightly. Then a cold, emotionless, hoarse voice slowly came from its mouth: ”Yes, Master!”

Xiao Yan examined the puppet curiously, his gaze circling around Yao Nu a few times before he nodded slightly.

This puppet was different from the Sky Demon Puppet he had refined in the past. The Sky Demon Puppet had no intelligence. When fighting, it relied entirely on its master’s divided attention to control it.

But this Yao Nu was different. With just a thought from Yao Ming, it would take the initiative to attack. In battle, it showed none of the stiffness typical of puppets. Its behavior was almost like Yao Xiaotian had been reborn.

”With its physical strength and pain immunity, its combat power should roughly match that of an ordinary Two-Star Dou Sheng.” Wei Yang carefully examined Yao Nu and even pressed on its body to gauge its toughness before speaking.

”Being able to match a Two-Star Dou Sheng... not bad at all.” Xiao Yan nodded slightly.

After all, a Two-Star Dou Sheng’s combat strength wasn’t something one found on the roadside. It was enough to serve as a sect’s foundation. After resting for a while...

Wei Yang flipped his hand and took out a jade box. Inside was a fist-sized sphere of crimson blood essence.

Divine-Grade Ancient Heaven Serpent Blood essence!

Upon seeing the blood, Yao Ming’s eyes lit up instantly, filled with fiery excitement. Wei Yang smiled, waved his hand, and opened the jade box. A surge of dense killing aura rushed out, spreading into the air.

”No wonder it’s an Ancient Heaven Serpent. Even its blood essence is this ferocious!”

With a stroke of his hand, the mass of blood essence split into two portions.

One sixty percent, one forty percent.

With a thought, the forty-percent portion floated toward Yao Ming. Wei Yang said, ”This portion is yours. How you use it is up to you. I won’t interfere.”

”Thank you, Master!” Yao Ming dropped to the ground in excitement.

”Get up.”

”Yes.” Yao Ming rose, took out a jade bottle, and carefully stored the blood essence.

With this blood essence, not only he but also the entire upper echelon of the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan—especially with the Nine Nether Underworld Staff as support—would gain immense benefits. It would greatly ease their crisis of bloodline depletion.

Wei Yang placed the remaining sixty-percent portion into another jade bottle, sealed it with a flick of his hand, and handed it to Yao Ming: ”Take this back and send it into the Nine Serene Spring for Qing Lin.”

”Yes.” Yao Ming accepted the jade bottle respectfully and put it away.

”Take Yao Nu with you, then head down to the bottom of the Nine Serene Spring and enslave that Grand Elder who’s still sealed.”

”First use Yellow Spring Divine Anger to seriously injure him, then enslave him—no need for me to teach you that, right? With that, your Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan, plus you, will have three Dou Shengs sitting in guard.”

Wei Yang then reminded him, ”For now, don’t bother with the Heaven Demon Phoenix Clan. When the Ancient Void Dragon Clan moves to retaliate, just take your people and follow behind them to pick up some advantages.”

”Do not act high-profile. At least for the next three to five years, everything must be kept stable. The most important thing is that you must ensure the safety of the Nine Serene Spring.”

”Yes, Master. Rest assured. I will definitely ensure the safety of Mistress and the others.” Yao Ming nodded respectfully.

”You have the jade slip I gave you. If there’s anything urgent, crush it, and I’ll come immediately.” Wei Yang waved his hand.

”Go.”

”Mm.” Yao Ming bowed, then nodded to Xiao Yan before leaving the chamber with Yao Nu, heading back to the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan.

Bang!

As the chamber door opened and closed—

”With Yao Ming bringing Yao Nu back, and adding that Grand Elder who’s sealed at the bottom of the Nine Serene Spring, there’ll be three Dou Shengs guarding the place. The Nine Serene Spring should be very safe now.” Xiao Yan exhaled and smiled in relief.

Wei Yang also smiled and nodded.

With such power guarding it—and being their home ground—the Nine Serene Spring would surely be safe. This way, Wei Yang and Xiao Yan didn’t need to split their attention worrying about that place anymore.

Qing Lin and Ah Da should break through fairly soon as well. Only Medusa would take longer. Her evolution from Seven-Colored to Nine-Colored wouldn’t happen quickly. Next, it was time to refine the two Dragon Kings into puppets.

Perfectly one for each of them.

”You go first this time.” Wei Yang gestured toward the two corpses.

”I’ll pick this one then.” Xiao Yan shrugged casually and chose the slightly weaker Southern Dragon King, leaving the Northern Dragon King for Wei Yang.

Wei Yang chuckled at that and raised his hand, pulling the Northern Dragon King’s corpse over with a wave.

In terms of puppet refinement, the Northern and Southern Dragon Kings were basically the same. Both belonged to the Ancient Void Dragon royal bloodline, and their realms weren’t fundamentally different.

So it didn’t matter which body they chose.

Unlike in the original story, where the Northern Dragon King used the Dragon Demon Formation to devour the other two Dragon Kings and several Northern Dragon Island experts—creating a terrifyingly powerful body that reached a level comparable to a Six-Star Dou Sheng.

”Let’s begin.”

The two of them summoned their Heavenly Flames, forming fire cauldrons that wrapped around the corpses as they began the refinement.

Just like that, more than ten days quickly passed.
