Ancient Dragon Island.

Inside a spacious secret chamber, Wei Yang, Xiao Yan, and Yao Ming were gathered together. This time, they had secluded themselves for a single purpose: to refine the bodies of the two Dragon Kings, as well as Yao Xiaotian’s corpse, into puppets.

Three corpses—restored to human form—lay horizontally on the ground.

Yao Xiaotian’s corpse needed no introduction, but the other two middle-aged men’s bodies were the real focus. One of them, in life, had possessed the strength of a late Three-Star. The other was the Northern Dragon King, whose strength had already stepped half a foot into Four-Star.

More importantly, the Ancient Void Dragon Royal bloodline and physical bodies of these two Dragon Kings were far tougher than the flesh of a typical human Four-Star Dou Sheng. They were essentially the best possible material for puppet refinement.

The puppets they planned to refine would be living puppets—possessing a degree of thought, awareness, and battle instinct. Without a doubt, they would become tremendous combat power, whether for their personal use or for Falling Star Pavilion.

At the current stage, they were extremely important.

Wei Yang’s gaze swept over the three corpses, finally stopping on Yao Xiaotian’s body: ”Let’s use this one to warm up first.”

Xiao Yan nodded, then gestured with a smile: ”Senior Brother, you go ahead.”

Wei Yang shrugged.

Beside him, Yao Ming flipped his hand and took out a black demon core radiating a bone-piercing chill. Within the demon core, an illusory human face twisted and roared in a ferocious manner. It looked exactly like Yao Xiaotian when he was alive.

Refining his own younger brother’s corpse into a puppet didn’t stir even the slightest emotion in Yao Ming. Waste should be reused. Wei Yang waved his hand, and immediately, hundreds of oddly glowing materials floated into the air before him.

These were all precious materials required to refine puppets. For bodies of Dou Sheng level, the ingredients needed were extremely strict and high-grade in order to match the vessel.

Fortunately, their own collections were abundant, and both the Ancient Void Dragon Clan and the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan had contributed as well, so gathering them wasn’t too difficult.

What they had taken out now wasn’t even the best batch—they had two more sets of supreme-grade materials prepared for the two Dragon Kings. Wei Yang carefully inspected each material floating before him.

After confirming everything was correct, he nodded in satisfaction. He took a slow, steady breath. He didn’t dare be careless.

After all, in order to collect all three complete sets of materials, they had scoured the Ancient Dragon Clan and the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan’s warehouses clean.

They had no extras to spare.

Just thinking about the heartbroken expressions of the elders guarding those warehouses made him want to laugh.

Everything was ready.

Wei Yang lifted his hand, and Yao Xiaotian’s corpse was pulled into the air, suspended before him. The corpse’s eyes were tightly shut, its complexion pale, and all signs of life completely gone. Yet its skin and muscles remained firm and smooth, the body still filled with impressive toughness.

Even if struck with blades or swords, it would be impossible to leave a mark.

Magic beasts were naturally sturdier than humans—let alone the body of a Nine Serene Deep Ground Python royal bloodline Dou Sheng. It was truly a natural treasure. Ordinary human One- or Two-Star Dou Shengs couldn’t compete in sheer physical strength.

Wei Yang withdrew his gaze and waved his hand.

WOOOM—

A mass of black flame appeared, swelling rapidly in the air before transforming into a massive fire cauldron that enveloped Yao Xiaotian’s corpse.

Sizzle—

Very soon, under the burning of the black flame, the skin surface of Yao Xiaotian’s corpse began to emit a continuous sizzling sound. Thin streams of blood plasma seeped out from the skin, only to be instantly scorched into nothingness by the high heat.

Wei Yang’s expression remained calm.

He had never refined a puppet before, but he was already familiar with the process. He had refined physical bodies for Ah Da and Yao Lao before—this was similar to tempering medicinal ingredients, just with different fire control.

Under the tempering of the Heavenly Flame, the body would only become more terrifying and resilient.

This tempering step seemed simple, but it lasted a full seven days. During these seven days, under the uninterrupted smelting of the black flame, Yao Xiaotian’s originally burly figure shrank by nearly three sizes, appearing much thinner.

But this body, after being burned and tempered by the Heavenly Flame, had become far tougher than before—like raw iron forged into refined steel.

Outside the fire cauldron, Wei Yang and the other two calmly watched Yao Xiaotian’s body, now completely tempered into a dark, black-iron color.

Even without any Dou Qi supporting it, the sheer sense of power radiating from that body was overwhelming. It felt as if this body could punch a hole through heaven and earth with a single casual blow.

”The blood in his body has been completely refined into his muscles and bones. This body can truly be called a perfect killing machine.” Wei Yang smiled slightly as he looked at the steel-like, oppressive corpse.

He lifted his hand and pulled the demon core from Yao Ming’s hand. With a light pat and a pull—

A faint, illusory remnant soul was forcibly dragged out from within the demon core.

”Ah—Yao Ming!” As soon as the remnant soul appeared, it let out a shrill, crazed scream, whipping up gusts of cold wind throughout the chamber.

”Noisy.” Wei Yang frowned, squeezed the remnant soul until it nearly tore apart, then slapped it directly into the body inside the fire cauldron.

FWOOM—

The black flames surged upward, burning even more fiercely.

”AH—!”

Inside the cauldron, Yao Xiaotian—whose eyes had been tightly shut—suddenly snapped his eyes open, two blood-red lights shooting out from them as he let out a chilling, agonized roar.

That dry, black-iron-like body began violently thrashing. Then, shockingly, he managed to regain control over the body and slammed a fist toward the cauldron, attempting to shatter the confinement and escape.

”Heh.” Wei Yang let out a cold chuckle and willed the cauldron to respond.

BOOM!

The surface of the fire cauldron solidified as black flame and lightning crackled across it, reinforcing it with a new layer. Even the space inside became condensed and hardened like a solid shell.

CRACK, CRACK, CRACK—

Yao Xiaotian continued his frenzied struggle. His monstrous physical strength tore at the nearly-solidified space within the cauldron, causing it to crack open inch by inch.

Seeing this, Wei Yang extended a finger and tapped forward.

BANG!

At that tap, Yao Xiaotian’s struggling body suddenly froze. Streams of black flame erupted from within his flesh, engulfing him from the inside out.

The invasive flames surged through his meridians like venomous snakes, racing into his mind and surrounding the remnant soul controlling the body—and then began burning it.

”Bastard! What are you doing to this king?! Ah—stop!” Yao Xiaotian shrieked, his expression twisted in torment.

The agony of having one’s soul burned by Heavenly Flame was not something any creature could endure.

Wei Yang remained expressionless, unwilling to waste breath on the final hysteria of a dead man. Let alone the dead version— even when Yao Xiaotian had been alive, he would not have been Wei Yang’s match. Not now.

Wei Yang’s soul power was far beyond Yao Xiaotian’s—let alone a mere fragment of his soul. Thus, all of Yao Xiaotian’s struggles were doomed to be meaningless. He couldn’t make the slightest ripple.

”He” was only being used as practice material. Still, this reaction was exactly what Wei Yang wanted to see. Only through such resistance could the puppet retain maximum ferocity and compatibility.
