Chapter 539, The Best Choice for Refining the Ancient God Source

That being said, the effects of this Ancient God Source were truly Heaven-defying!

However, Lu Fan could not possibly just listen to the Devouring Dragon King’s explanation and then contentedly give the Ancient God Source to the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings to consume.

Previously, the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings had been mere Utility Dragons in Lu Fan’s eyes. Even if they died, once the Respawn Cooldown passed, he could simply summon them again.

But now, things were different. After fighting alongside the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings for so long, these two silly Dragons had gradually become part of Lu Fan’s Family.

Unless absolutely necessary, Lu Fan did not want anything untoward to happen to them. Therefore, it would be better to clarify the uses of the Ancient God Source before deciding whether to give it to the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings.

So Lu Fan asked the Devouring Dragon King. “Is using an Ancient God Source really so simple and direct? If my Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings swallow it and successfully advance to become Dragon Kings, then how will Divine Bone use his Ancient God Source to revive years later?”

“Also, if the Ancient God Source is so powerful, why don’t you consume it yourself? As the Devouring Dragon King, you should also be able to turn the Ancient God’s Power into your own, right?”

The Devouring Dragon King glanced at Lu Fan, clearly finding him somewhat long-winded, and impatiently said. “What’s this? Are you worried that your two Pets might have some adverse reaction after eating it, or become possessed by Divine Bone?”

Lu Fan nodded without concealing anything.

*Tch!* The Devouring Dragon King sneered, “You really do worry about all sorts of unnecessary things. Sure, after consuming the Ancient God Source, even if one can refine it and gain power from it, the Ancient God Source will continue to exist within their body. In the end, regardless of whose body the Ancient God Source is in, once the Ancient God awakens, he will gradually possess the person who ate it, occupying their physical form.”

“If you let your other Pet Dragons eat it to obtain the Ancient God’s Power, after you die ten thousand years later and your Pet Dragon survives alone in this world, they will inevitably be parasitized by the Ancient God, which will gradually occupy their body and replace them.”

“But your Twin Dragons are different from the other Pet Dragons. They’re already dead, summoned by your Skill. They exist between the living and Skill Effects. Even if they evolve to become Dragon King, they can never come back to life. In short, they exist only through that Skill of yours. If you die or choose not to summon them, they would no longer exist in this world.”

“In that case, according to the mechanics of this world, when the Ancient God realises it cannot descend to the world, he will strive to randomly condense another Ancient God Source, finding another way to return to this world.”

“Of course, this would take even longer. So having your two Dragons consume the Ancient God Source is all benefit with no drawbacks. Not only will it make them stronger, but it will further prevent the Ancient God from being reborn in this world, delaying its rebirth by thousands more years.”

After a pause, the Devouring Dragon King spread her hands and said. “So, you should understand why I’m unwilling to consume this Ancient God Source, right? The Ancient God’s Power is definitely tempting, even to me, but I don’t want to be possessed by this filthy thing in my twilight years. I can’t imagine having that filthy thing occupy my flesh and be reborn through my body. In comparison, your Twin Dragons are practically born for refining Ancient God Sources.”

After hearing the Devouring Dragon King’s explanation, Lu Fan nodded to indicate his understanding.

Looking at it this way, letting the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings consume and refine the Ancient God Source was indeed the wisest choice.

However, there was one thing the Devouring Dragon King had got wrong.

The Skill to summon the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings was not Lu Fan’s, but Xiao Cui’s.

When Lu Fan dies of old age someday, Xiao Cui would regain her freedom and would still be able to summon the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings. Therefore, the danger of Divine Bone being reborn through the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings still existed.

Nevertheless, this danger could still be safely navigated. For instance, thousands of years later, Xiao Cui could simply stop summoning the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings, permanently sealing Divine Bone within their bodies.

Ultimately, this was not really something for Lu Fan to worry about, as it concerned matters thousands or even tens of thousands of years in the future, and there was not much he could do about it.

Focusing on the present, having the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings refine the Ancient God Source was absolutely the best possible choice for handling the Ancient God Source.

However, with the release of Fury of All Dragons, even Xiao Cui, who had not participated in the battle, had been recalled to the Pet Sub-Space and could not be summoned temporarily, let alone having Xiao Cui summon the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings.

Therefore, to have the Fallen Corpse Holy Dragon Kings consume the Ancient God Source, they would need to wait until his Pet Dragons could be summoned again.

The Devouring Dragon King also showed signs of fatigue after this battle.

She yawned, and without waiting for Lu Fan to speak, directly said. “Alright, in the end, how to deal with it is your business, not mine. Although I’ve recovered a little from some of my injuries, I don’t want to stay out here for too long. After all, the Pet Sub-Space is better for healing my wounds. In the future, I’ll help you two more times. My assistance is limited, so cherish each time well.”

“I’m going back to rest now. When you complete your Third Profession Change, you can contact me through our spiritual connection, and I’ll take you to find the Blade Armour Dragon King Egg.”

With that, the Devouring Dragon King did not even wait for Lu Fan’s agreement. She waved her hand to create a Summoning Array, stepped into it, and departed from this place.

Lu Fan thought to himself. [Yeah, the contract I had signed with her really does not constrain her. She truly can come and go as she pleases. If all my Children could act so freely, in the future, when I face a powerful enemy, would they escape on their own?]

As Lu Fan was pondering this while planning to return to Jianghai City to see the casualties from the Monster Tide, he suddenly heard sounds of collapsing buildings and citizens’ cries coming from somewhere below.

Lu Fan looked toward the sound, his brows immediately furrowing tightly.

Due to Lu Fan using Fury of All Dragons, not only were his Pet Dragons recalled, but even the Fallen Corpse Puppets had been put away.

Thus, the Skeletal Monsters, which had been numerous and were scattered throughout Jianghai City, despite the Fallen Corpse Puppets’ all-out hunt, still had some left. These remaining ones were still causing death and destruction in Jianghai City.

Still, Lu Fan was glad. After all, these Skeletal Monsters were summoned by Divine Bone, not parts composed of Divine Bone himself, this relieved Lu Fan’s concerns about Divine Bone escaping from this place.

But with such powerful Skeletal Monsters rampaging through Jianghai City, there was simply no one who could stop them!

Lu Fan could see that right now in Jianghai City, there were still three Bone Dragons, continuously crashing into skyscrapers and attacking citizens with Dragon Breath, causing casualties in Jianghai City to continue to rise.
