When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 271: Chapter 109: The Top Star of the 1960s Cultural Troupe (48)

”I... I just feel like I missed out on you growing up, and I’m going crazy with jealousy over that guy!”

By the end, he was speaking with righteous conviction.

Xia Zhaoyun’s heart immediately softened. She chuckled and wrapped her arms around his neck. ”I’m just teasing you. I couldn’t bear to leave you either.”

”Tong Yuanbin doesn’t mean anything to me. He was just someone the adults tacitly approved of me playing with. The Song Family couple was very strict with me, so I rarely got to go out, and Tong Yuanbin was brazen enough to claim me as his.”

”But, because of him, I haven’t really had any suitors. It’s been peaceful until now.”

”Going to Song Zhenbao and Tong Yuanbin’s engagement party isn’t because I can’t let go of Tong Yuanbin. It’s because Song Zhenbao invited me twice in front of so many people. It would have been hard to refuse, right?”

”Besides, it’s not like my man is someone to be ashamed of! I figured, if she dared to invite me, think of all the drama everyone would miss if I didn’t show up.”

”And it’s the perfect chance to introduce my man to everyone!”

Huo Tianhao was satisfied with her explanation, but he was still hung up on the eighteen years he’d been absent from her life.

’We clearly lived in the same factory complex, so how did we barely ever cross paths?’

’Then he thought about how if he hadn’t been a ”dead man” and saved his wife from dire straits, the one standing before Xia Zhaoyun now definitely wouldn’t be him.’

That lingering fear made him even more reluctant to leave. He needed to truly possess her again to calm his inner turmoil.

Huo Tianhao’s voice was husky. ”Wifey, look how late it’s gotten. How about I get a room at the guesthouse?”

Xia Zhaoyun wasn’t some truly innocent girl. How could she not understand what he meant?

’He’s my man, so I should be the one to dote on him.’

She lowered her gaze to her watch and whispered, ”I... I’ll stay with you at the guesthouse for an hour...”

’It wasn’t too late now,’ Xia Zhaoyun calculated. ’An hour from now, it would only be a little after nine.’

’As long as I go home to sleep, no one will have anything to say, right?’

Huo Tianhao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”Wifey, you really have no idea about my stamina, do you? One hour? Is that just the appetizer?”

Xia Zhaoyun glared at him, embarrassed and annoyed. ”I... I have to work tomorrow!”

She was in the middle of choreographing, but she still did morning practice with the other girls every day to ensure her body was always in peak condition.

’If she messed around with him all night, would she even be able to get up tomorrow?’

Huo Tianhao doted on his wife too, so he could only compromise, a wronged look on his face.

Eager to make the most of their time, he pulled her along in large strides the whole way. His urgency made Xia Zhaoyun feel like she was absurdly going along with his crazy whim...

This time, Xia Zhaoyun was fully lucid as she felt the man’s tenderness and his obsessive love, a love that wished they could melt into one.

They embraced, and the feeling of having found their home in each other was inexplicably moving and precious.

Huo Tianhao brought her back on time, lingering affectionately at her door.

”Brother Hao, what time are you leaving tomorrow? Can you leave a little later? I’ll make you breakfast, and you can eat before you head back,” Xia Zhaoyun asked softly, wanting to show him her virtuous and capable side.

Huo Tianhao shook his head apologetically. ”Wifey, I have to leave early. The situation in the city isn’t great. Everyone’s just waiting for others to mess up, using it as an excuse to get promoted and get a raise.”

”I’m an indispensable technical talent at the factory with good pay and benefits, which has long made a lot of people jealous. If they go crazy, they won’t care about the factory’s best interests at all.”

Xia Zhaoyun could only say helplessly, ”In that case, Brother Hao, you have to take care of yourself. Remember to eat on time. Your health is your most important asset.”

”Of course. I have to spend the rest of my life with you,” Huo Tianhao said, ruffling her hair. ”Hurry back inside. There are too many mosquitoes out here. I’ll rush back after work on Saturday and head back early Monday morning.”

’That way, he could stay for two nights...’

Seeing the little spark of joy in his eyes, Xia Zhaoyun’s feelings of parting dissipated. She playfully shut the door on him, only calling out a soft reminder, ”Brother Hao, be safe on the road!”

Huo Tianhao answered in a low voice. Hearing her go inside and the sounds die down, he finally left, a smile playing on his lips.

Time seems to slow down when you have something to look forward to, but once Xia Zhaoyun immersed herself in her work, it flew by.

Within a week, she had finished choreographing the dance. She even put on socks, dipped them in water, and tried it out on the concrete floor. It was just as she had imagined: she could dance gracefully while simultaneously creating a beautiful and auspicious Chinese painting!

However, she still had to choose the right tools for the painting, such as the type of silk cloth and pigments, as well as figure out how to get the girls to step out the predetermined patterns.
