Chapter 3264: Chapter 3265: The Essence of Possession

Angel actually wanted to ask this question for quite some time.

Borrowing a body for rebirth, also known as possession. This exists in the Wizards’ Realm as well. For instance, the ”Little Demon” Glarke from Dusknights’ Blade once borrowed the body of a recently deceased person for rebirth with Sanders’ help. He now goes by the name Spiwey and serves under Flora.

Additionally, Greya lost her body in the Nightmare Realm and had to find a young girl’s body to temporarily parasite her consciousness.

Both situations count as borrowing a body for rebirth, but Glarke completely changed his identity; whereas Greya did not harm the girl’s consciousness and merely parasited. When she retrieves her body, the girl can resume her own life.

Although possession exists in the Wizards’ Realm, it’s not common. The reason is easy to understand: because possession only makes you weaken, without any major change.

Things like life limits reached and then possession for rebirth do not exist either. Wizards have various methods to extend life. If even life extension can’t prevent death, it means your soul, Spirit Sea, and Mind Space are all heading towards decay.

Possession can’t change that.

Because possession only takes someone else’s body, not changes your own soul.

However, the possession by the Crystal Eye Clan seems to evade this iron law? After possession, can they break through the life limit and continue living in a new body?

This is what Angel cannot comprehend.

Glaipnir: ”Your thoughts are not wrong. Only, you overlook the differences between humans and most of the Longevity Tribe.”

Humans are extremely special in all pan-dimensional planes.

Because humans alone possess the most balanced life characteristics.

For example, if a human’s lifespan is a hundred years, then their physiological functions, soul state, and spiritual origin will all age together within those hundred years.

Trinity, extremely balanced. None of them excels, none drags behind.

Thus, the lifespan of humans is the truest lifespan.

But the longevity races generally are not like this.

Take the Crystal Eye Clan as an example; their lifespan is said to be seven hundred to a thousand years, but this limit purely refers to the aging of ”physiological functions.”

While their soul and spirit haven’t reached the limit within those thousand years.

Generally speaking, the soul limit and spiritual origin’s limit of the Crystal Eye Clan are both three thousand years. If they can break through, they can continue extending.

From this, it can be seen that the physiological functions, soul state, and spiritual origin of the Crystal Eye Clan are completely unbalanced compared to humans. Physiological functions reach the end first, while the soul and spirit are far from reaching the limit.

Thus, the rebirth through borrowing a body by the Crystal Eye Clan is considered true rebirth.

Because possessing a youth’s body solves the aging of ”physiological functions.” And the soul and spirit also get reactivated in the new body.

They will gain at least another thousand years of lifespan. As long as they break through during this time, immortality is not an unattainable dream.

”I see.” After Angel realizes, he can’t help but sigh: ”It seems, the Longevity Tribe and humans are really different... No wonder the lifespan of ordinary humans is so short.”

As far as Angel knows, as long as the soul and spirit become powerful, they can nourish the body in return.

The soul and spirit of longevity races are inherently strong, so they have been nourishing their bodies since birth. This might also be why longevity races can live long...

”Actually, you don’t need to feel sad for humans.” Glaipnir: ”From the results, humans are at a disadvantage in this competition of lifespan. But those of the Longevity Tribe also envy humans’ balance, don’t they?”

Angel was puzzled: ”What do you mean?”

Glaipnir: ”I mentioned before, humans are a very special race in the pan-dimensional planes. It is because of humans’ trinity balance. Though balance brings humans’ natural short lifespan flaw, it lets them face fewer obstacles when breaking through barriers.”

”Just think of Tunyta, you will understand. He, as a great unique Great Prophet of the Crystal Eye Clan, how much resources and wealth could he control at his peak? The answer is immeasurable.”

”Yet even under this immeasurable wealth, Tunyta still didn’t break through the wall barrier to enter the Crystal Level. It is because his soul state and spiritual origin are too strong, completely beyond his control.”

”The common issue for longevity races is difficulty in breaking through barriers. Only a very few extraordinary geniuses can become strong, and reaching the ultimate limit is extremely challenging.”

While humans are different. Although wizardry is also difficult, due to their trinity balance, what hinders human wizard development is mostly ”big barriers,” such as Apprentice breaking through to Official Wizard, Official Wizard breaking through to True Knowledge, True Knowledge stepping into Legend... these types of big barriers. The small category level-up barriers generally do not hold back wizards for too long. Even if stuck, they can eventually grind through it with time.

But longevity races face issues equally with both big and small barriers.

Therefore, despite having a naturally long lifespan, once embarking on the transcendent path, humans often hold a higher ceiling than the longevity races.

Angel nodded in understanding.

From his perspective, this is a form of balance.

The Longevity Tribe receives convenience in their inborn traits, but they must pay a greater price in the acquired traits.

If there really exists a creator in this world, then perhaps this is the ”fairness” planned by the creator?

”Fairness?” Hearing Angel’s mumbling in the Mind Ribbon, Gutalace suddenly laughed: ”I don’t know if there is a creator, but you are completely wrong using this point to illustrate fairness.”

”Think carefully, Glaipnir always preceded his comparisons of longevity races and humans with ’generally’ or ’most.’”

”In other words, a very small portion of longevity races actually have trinity balance like humans.”

”I don’t know which specific special longevity races exist; but there are certainly some, and Glaipnir shared this with me.”

Angel gazed toward Glaipnir, who gently nodded: ”Yes, this kind of inherent trinity balanced longevity races, though rare, do exist.”

”However, from a research perspective, such special cases can be mentioned but cannot be generalized in study. For example, humans’ general attribute is the trinity, but some humans naturally have stronger spiritual power, which is what you call abilities or talents. Some humans are innately gifted, which is also a manifestation of strong spiritual power and soul.”

”A singular case cannot represent the general example.”

Angel nodded; what Glaipnir said is correct, singular cases and general examples are completely different. But personally, he still envies those races with naturally long lifespans and trinity balance...

But envy is one thing, he wouldn’t really choose to swap places.

These races at most have a higher lower bound, but in terms of upper bounds, humans are not bad themselves.

...

”The topic drifted again.” Gutalace looked at Glaipnir: ”You haven’t answered Luigi’s question yet; how do you plan to help Lita?”

Glaipnir: ”I haven’t figured out a method yet. However, if forced to take him away, it’s not impossible...”

At this, Glaipnir glanced at Laplace beside him.

As a Temporal Body, she can fully leverage her true form’s power to pull them away from Crystal City.

However, after truly leaving, how to deal with the subsequent issues becomes somewhat troublesome. The Giant City Spirit has a mark on Lita, and it will surely know her location.

And this mark has already merged with Lita, even Laplace cannot remove it.

However, it’s not entirely without methods.

Throw Lita into the Sea of Void Mirror, and wait for the mark to be washed away, then fish her out from the Sea of Void Mirror. This counts as an alternative method. It’s just that by then, Lita is likely to become one of the Empty-hearted People.

Becoming one of the Empty-hearted People is very unfortunate, but it’s better than constantly being targeted by the Crystal Eye Clan.

But this is only the last-resort, the helpless method.

If there is a more suitable method, Glaipnir wouldn’t resort to this most extreme method. After all, if Lita truly becomes one of the Empty-hearted People, she won’t be able to explain it to Hiluda.

Just as Glaipnir was pondering, Angel suddenly spoke: ”Actually, I have a method.”

Angel’s words immediately caught everyone’s attention.

Gutalace directly asked, ”What method? You’re not saying open a portal from Crystal City to the Reality Realm and send Lita there...”

Angel: ”...” Is this a method you thought of yourself? But honestly, sending Lita to reality seems feasible.

Of course, Angel’s method is not this kind of escapism.

He organized his thoughts and said, ”I previously inquired about the essence of rebirth through possession, and now I have a rough understanding... Simply put, it’s soul and spiritual power possession.”

”This also means that inside the Holy Corpse Crystal, Tunyta’s soul and spiritual power are preserved.”

Everyone nodded in agreement; although it couldn’t be confirmed how it was done, it’s likely the ceremony’s effect, allowing the Holy Corpse Crystal to preserve the deceased’s soul and spiritual power for long periods.

”Since soul and spiritual power can be possessed, what is the most crucial core? The answer is consciousness.”

”If the consciousness within the Holy Corpse Crystal never existed, with only soul and spiritual power present, then possession is impossible.”

Angel’s words were somewhat convoluted; Gutalace didn’t understand the meaning, but Luigi, Glaipnir, and Laplace immediately got it.

What enters the Crystal Origin of Dreams through the log-in device? It’s consciousness.

The body manifested in the Crystal Origin of Dreams is actually a consciousness.

Even if your soul is shattered, your Spirit Sea turbulent, if your consciousness containing all your memories and emotions still exists, it can manifest in the Crystal Origin of Dreams.

This is also the origin of those Indigenous People in the Crystal Origin of Dreams and the Wilderness of Dreams.

Their bodies in reality have died, and even their souls have returned to the void, but their consciousness was pulled into the Crystal Origin of Dreams, forming new entities.

This is the Indigenous People.

Similarly, what’s fundamental for the Crystal Eye Clan’s soul and spirit to possess is consciousness. If Tunyta’s consciousness was pulled into the Crystal Origin of Dreams initially, then the Holy Corpse Crystal in reality is nothing but waste.

Naturally, possession wouldn’t be possible either.

Moreover, obtaining inheritance through the Holy Corpse Crystal would likely be impossible, because inheritance surely contains memories, and memories are closely tied to consciousness; once consciousness leaves, the inheritance disappears too.

As for the talent of soul and spiritual power, it might be passed on. But this is just speculation.

The only certainty is that once consciousness departs, possession cannot proceed.

”This is indeed a good method.” Luigi first gave affirmation, but his approval was ignored by everyone.

Laplace was the second to speak. She also found the method feasible, though many details need to be addressed.

Glaipnir pointed out the most crucial question directly: ”The method is feasible, but how do you let Tunyta’s consciousness from the Holy Corpse Crystal log-in to the Crystal Origin of Dreams?”

Facing Glaipnir’s inquiry, Angel quietly said: ”Is this... not something you should consider?”

Glaipnir was startled, only resuming after a good while: Angel’s words seem correct...

Whether to save Lita or if she gets possessed doesn’t have much to do with Angel.

What’s related to Lita is Glaipnir herself.

Angel now provided quite a good plan, far surpassing her own thoughts; he’s practically done her a great service.

Solving the method’s detailed defects should be Glaipnir’s own consideration.

After a moment of silence, Glaipnir nodded: ”You’re right, it’s my problem to consider.”

Pausing, Glaipnir began to express her insights: ”In my view, there are only two ways to let Tunyta’s consciousness enter the Crystal Origin of Dreams.”

”First, contact Tunyta’s Holy Corpse Crystal in advance, allowing his consciousness to enter the Crystal Origin of Dreams.”

”But this method has several difficulties. According to my knowledge, Tunyta’s Holy Corpse Crystal is placed within a forbidden zone where outsiders cannot enter; in fact, even the Crystal Eye Clan doesn’t have the right to enter the forbidden zone.”

”Moreover, the Giant City Spirit is also an issue to consider. With its surveillance, sneaking into the forbidden zone is even more difficult.”

This is why Glaipnir personally doesn’t recommend prematurely contacting the Holy Corpse Crystal.

Then, there’s only the second method left.

”Second, when Tunyta is about to possess Lita’s body, Lita first sends Tunyta’s consciousness into the Crystal Origin of Dreams.”

”But this method also has difficulties, since Lita is supposed to host the Crystal Eye Clan’s greatest prophet. So, when Lita undergoes the ceremony, many eyes will be watching; he might not be able to complete the process under such scrutiny.”

”And outsiders certainly cannot enter the ceremony; we cannot assist Lita.”

In sum, both methods have significant flaws; these are the detailed defects Laplace previously referred to needing urgent attention.

If Glaipnir had to choose, she personally leans towards the second option.

Because the first has more variables, and with the second method, as long as Lita doesn’t collapse, the success rate is still fairly high.

After Glaipnir finished speaking, she looked up at everyone: ”What do you think?”

Though she was looking at everyone, her inner focus was on Angel.

After all, this method was proposed by Angel, and to succeed would require Angel’s assistance. So, she really wants to know Angel’s opinion on these two different plans.
