Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2430: Chapter 2431: Attraction

Turned into a Treant? Power increased out of thin air?

Isn’t No. 03 a Water System Wizard? How did she suddenly get involved with Treants?

Though Angel didn’t know exactly what happened to No. 03, this kind of power increase from nowhere was definitely abnormal.

”After she turned into a Treant, does she have any abilities? Can she already contend with Lord Night?” Nis asked.

Ferro: ”Currently, I can’t see any abilities, but it seems like some Sea Beasts have gathered nearby. I’m not sure if they are influenced by No. 03 or attracted by the aftershocks of the battle. As for her current strength, she probably still can’t contend with Lord Night, but Lord Night’s state seems a bit strange.”

At this point, Ferro hesitated: ”I always feel like Lord Night seems to have been bewitched.”

Angel and Nis exchanged glances, hastily asking about the situation.

Since Ferro wasn’t in the battle circle, he didn’t know exactly what happened either, but he noticed that after No. 03 turned into a Treant, a fruit grew on top of her head.

It was a fruit shimmering with a red glow.

Ferro couldn’t sense the aura of that fruit, but his Spiritual Sense told him it was extraordinary.

Even gazing at that fruit from afar, Ferro’s mind was continually teased and attracted by it. It felt as if the fruit was a dazzling treasure, capable of captivating everyone.

”It’s not just me. I noticed that Lord Night also kept his gaze fixed on that fruit. His expression was even more obsessed, as if... as if he was mesmerized by that fruit,” Ferro said while gulping with apprehension. Though the fruit emitted an astonishing attraction, Ferro was far away, so the influence on him was minimal; he felt more fear than desire.

While speaking, a wave of Law swept over again.

This time, its power was much greater than before, as its source was from the direction of the laboratory.

This also confirmed a fact that the Law waves were created by No. 01 and the others, as they attempted to weaken the young Seat, but its effectiveness seemed minimal.

The wave of Law caused a brief silence in the Mind Ribbon.

Nis looked at Angel, speaking directly instead of through the Mind Ribbon, ”What do you think now?”

Angel contemplated, ”What Ferro said is just his own view. Lord Kanter may not have been enchanted.”

No matter what, Kanter was a True Knowledge Wizard, and his energy level was a full rank higher than No. 03. Even if No. 03 temporarily boosted her abilities, Angel found it hard to believe she could enchant Kanter.

Though Kanter’s strength might compare to Sanders, his age was greater than two Sanders combined. With his strength, experience, and extensive combat experience, Angel didn’t believe he would easily experience a downfall.

”Regardless of why Lord Kanter is at a standoff with No. 03, it doesn’t seem like a good choice right now. I suggest we go over and see the situation, at least to inform Lord Kanter about the ’approaching pursuit team from Phantom Spirit City.’

Nis thought for a moment, agreeing with Angel’s suggestion: ”Let’s go over now.”

As they quickly approached Ferro’s position, a piercing scream emanated from the laboratory’s direction.

Both Angel and Nis halted briefly before continuing forward.

Nis: ”It sounds like the lament of Seat.”

Angel nodded. Every Law wave was accompanied by Seat’s lament, but this time, Seat’s wailing was even more miserable, filled with despair that could be sensed even across dozens of sea miles.

It likely couldn’t hold out much longer.

Nis: ”Once the young Seat dies, No. 01 will be completely unable to turn back.”

Angel remained silent for a moment, softly saying, ”He hasn’t been able to turn back since he chose to devour the third-class citizens of Phantom Spirit City.”

Nis: ”Do you think his choice was wrong back then?”

Angel shook his head: ”His choice wasn’t wrong. If I were in his situation, I might have made the same choice. But choices are something we encounter daily in life, easy to overlook. No one knows which choice in your life might be fate’s ambush, pushing you towards a dead end.”

Nis nodded: ”Just like this time, if I chose not to come, who knows, my fate might have veered into another direction.”

Pausing, Nis looked at Angel: ”Speaking of choice, I remember you once encountered the Thief of Time. After that, have you encountered it again?”

Angel shook his head.

Nis: ”I feel like your fate hasn’t reached a dead end yet. It’s likely still watching you. The Thief of Time loves to steal the choices of fate. In the future, when making choices, be cautious... no matter what the choice.”

Angel responded with a ”hmm,” and Nis said no more. These matters were far away from them, and he believed Angel was aware of them.

After approximately two more minutes of flight, during which Seat’s wail never ceased but became increasingly despairing,

As Seat’s cries dwindled to mere whimpering, Angel said, ”We need to hurry, preferably before Seat dies, to get out of here.”

Nis said nothing, solemnly nodding his head.

At this time, the distance to Ferro’s position was only ten sea miles in a straight line. From there, they could already feel the tumultuous ocean energy in the distance.

Beneath the sea, numerous dark shadows converged toward the distance.

”These are the Sea Beasts hiding in the Mist Belt. Sea Beasts living in the Devil’s Sea forbidden zone should know not to spy when the energy is turbulent, even without the talent to seek fortune and avoid disaster,” Nis said sternly. ”Yet all these Sea Beasts are converging on Ferro’s side. This clearly isn’t right. Perhaps Ferro’s guess is correct; this is No. 03’s ability after transforming into a Treant.”

Angel also noticed the congregation of Sea Beasts, their eyes slightly red, their excitement almost visibly palpable.

This was definitely not a normal phenomenon.

”Let’s go and have a look.”

Angel and Nis accelerated instantly, leaving a light arc across the sky.

But halfway across the sky, the light arc was suddenly disrupted.

The disruption wasn’t due to an attack but because the sky suddenly darkened, and a wail of despair echoed in everyone’s ears.

The moment this wail appeared, it completely overshadowed the wave of Law. The sky dimmed, the ocean fell silent, as if the heavens and the sea mourned along with the wailing.

From the direction of the laboratory, a light was falling.

The moment the light completely fell into the sea, the once-quiet ocean instantly erupted.

This eruption wasn’t limited to the laboratory’s location; the entire Mist Belt, and even a small portion of the Devil’s Sea, exhibited terrifying weather phenomena.

It seemed as though the sea grieved and raged over this loss.

...

Devil’s Sea, near the Death Ring, Shaloo Ridge.

In a garden filled with strange flowers and plants, a little girl was originally swinging silently on a white-dyed iron art frame, but suddenly stopped, looking at a middle-aged woman beside her wearing a black luxurious dress and flowered veil.

”Madam Pei, the atmosphere at sea seems a bit off.”

Madam Pei gazed at the distant sea, not noticing anything unusual. She paused for a moment and said, ”Miss, this is the norm for the Devil’s Sea.”

”I think it’s a bit different from usual.” The little girl suddenly gave a sly smile. ”Want to bet? The stakes are your intestines.”

Madam Pei: ”Miss, the intestines of an Oil Beast are not suitable for me. If I were to transplant the intestines of an Oil Beast, even if I do not eat or drink, I will continuously excrete oil just from swallowing air. It’s inelegant and would shame you.”

The little girl stared into Madam Pei’s eyes. Madam Pei’s expression remained unchanged. After a long time, the little girl admitted defeat: ”Forget it, being serious with you means I’ve lost.”

”Let’s head back.” The little girl jumped off the swing, and at the moment she landed, a splendid basket caught her precisely.

”Miss, still want to bet?”

”Not interested anymore.” The little girl waved behind Madam Pei and leisurely flew deeper sitting in the basket.

...

Endless Sea, in a sea area close to the Devil’s Sea.

A giant ray fish shimmering with iridescent colors leapt out of the water. On the back of the ray fish sat a man fully cloaked in black robes.

He looked up towards the distant Devil’s Sea, muttering softly, ”Long-lost feeling... When was the last time? When the sky and sea’s favored one departed.”

...

Nis, feeling the sorrowful atmosphere in the air, spoke softly: ”Is it dead?”

Angel listened carefully. He could still vaguely hear low sobs, but couldn’t ascertain whether they came from Sits.

”I don’t know, but even if not dead, it’s close.”

Nis: ”Anyway, let’s go find As Night Your Lord.”

Angel nodded, glanced towards the laboratory, and together with Nis flew towards the coordinates provided by Ferro.

This time, without any obstruction, they quickly reached Ferro’s location.

Just as they regrouped with Ferro and before speaking, Angel was captivated by the scene in the distance.

Hundreds of meters high sea waves pounded against the sky’s ”Nightfall Star,” with rolling mist blending into the surrounding mist, making the surroundings increasingly hazy.

Sometimes clear, sometimes obscured.

When Angel arrived, it was during a moment when the mist had faded, so he could see Kanter merging into the night, the towering waves, and the person standing on those waves...

Although entwined with numerous branches, with skin turned to bark, even bearing fruit, let’s still call it a person. After all, she was indeed a person before.

Number 03.

Ferro, while describing Number 03 through the Mind Ribbon, mentioned the fruit atop her head, full of allure, making it impossible to look away.

And seeing the fruit with his own eyes, it was as Ferro said. Angel’s gaze was subconsciously drawn to the red fruit. This attraction even made Angel forget their purpose for coming.

It felt like gazing at the only bright light on frosted glass...

That light, is everything. The surrounding scenery blurred by the frosted glass was negligible.

Fortunately, the attraction didn’t last long. When the mist veiled the distant waves, Angel gradually regained his thoughts.

”That fruit is definitely not right.” Nis’s voice sounded beside him, turning to Ferro: ”You mentioned you could try not to gaze at that fruit. Can you really do it?”

Nis’s complexion turned slightly pale, the attraction was terrifying. If not for the mist’s veil, he could hardly consciously avert his gaze, which was contrary to what Ferro described.

Ferro smiled wryly: ”Before, I could forcibly avert my eyes, but somehow, over time, its allure intensified. Whenever the mist dissipates, my entire mind gets drawn to that fruit.”

Nis: ”What’s going on? Can the fruit’s allure increase?”

Ferro also looked puzzled: ”I don’t know either.”

As they spoke, the mist slightly dispersed again, revealing the distant figure standing atop the waves, Number 03.

Nis hurriedly closed his eyes, Ferro also turned his head. Yet, an inexplicable allure relaxed their defenses, turning them to gaze at the fruit, expressions intoxicated.

At that moment, a light shield suddenly engulfed Nis and Ferro.

The intense allure dramatically diminished. The intoxicated thoughts regained self-awareness.

Nis and Ferro turned to look, discovering Angel’s right eye emitting a faint green glow – the light shield originated from Angel.

Nis and Ferro simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief. Though unsure how Angel managed to reduce the allure, merely regaining normal thoughts was already good.

However, Angel’s brow furrowed tightly at the moment. The light shield he released was precisely the Domain Field of his right eye’s green pattern.

Angel clearly knew the Domain Field’s effect, powerful enough to ward off Nightmare Light, even slightly resist the Observer’s twisting Law, yet this time was unexpected.

The Domain Field indeed reduced the fruit’s allure, but didn’t completely block it.

Angel could distinctly feel that even enveloped by the Domain Field, he still wanted to look towards the fruit. Only by forcing himself to divert attention could he obtain a moment of peace. But once attention slightly weakened, there was an urge to gaze at the fruit again.

This was the first time a certain ability bypassed the Domain Field’s effect.

The Domain Field can block curses and many negative effects, but now merely reduces allure. Does this imply the fruit’s allure isn’t actually a negative effect?

Nis: ”What is that fruit Number 03 concocted? If its allure continues to grow, who can resist?”

Ferro could not answer, remaining dazed.

Angel silently watched the distance, not placing his gaze on the fruit but still focusing on the stirring great wave.

”The color of the seawater over there seems a bit off.” Angel suddenly spoke.

Nis followed Angel’s gaze: ”It does seem a bit off, why is it red?”
